3 ATTENTION... ARE YOU OUR AUTUMN BEST DRESSED LADY? THE STYLE AWARDS HEAD JUDGE Finding autumnal fashion fit for the field can be challenging. As we move away from the bright colours of the summer wardrobe, a darker, more earthy colour palette with shades of burgundy work well. The choice of headwear is still important and will be the key to completing any race day outfit. Structured hats, more dramatic shapes and heavier fabrics such as felt pill box styles usually work well. I still think tweed is a racing staple and in autumn I love to see layering and even a staple pair of gloves to accessorise an outfit. We know it will be chilly, so a coat is a must; tights and full toe shoes or boots are a necessity, and an umbrella just in case should always be kept handy. Key trends for A/W16 that I predict to see this Autumn Ladies Day are velvet, bell sleaves and slick 80s power suiting. Accessories will be important, and ladies who wish to add a fashion statement to an otherwise plain outfit may consider statement fur embellishments, guitar bag straps, charms, chokers and 70s-inspired platform shoes. Autumnal hats tend to become more practical than statement; they need to be securely fixed, so don t be tempted to select a structural masterpiece. One gust of wind and it will be gone, along with your lovely coiffured hair style! 5 FOCUS ON FASHION GET SET FOR AUTUMN IN AW16 S NEW SHAPES, STYLES AND COLOURS.
