2 RAINWEAR WITH AUTHENTIC RUGGED QUALITY Our story begins in Grundsund, Sweden where Carl A. Grundén, the son of a North Sea fisherman, started producing oiled garments commonly known as oilskins. The people of this Swedish West Coast village were focused and driven to produce raingear made with the best quality and durability to protect professional fishermen working the stormy waters of the North Sea. Today, more than one hundred years later, Grundéns is still growing and producing the very best raingear for professional fisherman. Our organization has grown, with larger factories and warehouses in more countries, but the focus and drive and ambition to develop and produce top quality rainwear remains unchanged. More and more people in all outdoor occupations and outdoor pursuits now enjoy the quality, function and joy that comes from wearing a true Grundéns Quality garment. 6 THE HISTORY OF GRUNDÉNS RAINWEAR The son of a fisherman, Carl A. Grundén founded a factory for oiled garments in Grundsund, Sweden. The production seized in 1914 because of material shortage linked to the onset of World War I. Carl A. Grundén once again started to produce oiled garments in Grundsund. The company was named Grundéns Regnklädesfabrik AB ( Grundéns Rainwear Factory Inc. ) and has ever since developed and manufactured rainwear. During the 190s, Grundéns introduced rubberized fabric as material for rainwear. Rubberized fabric was a lot more comfortable and durable than oiled cloth. In the beginning of the 1950s, Grundéns began using PVC-coated fabrics. This material is still the world-leading fabric for professional rainwear that demands outstanding durability Grundéns introduced the Herkules bib pant to the commercial fishermen on the West coast of Sweden. Herkules quickly became the standard most fishermen preferred. That is still true today. No other item for the professional fisherman is as proven or has stood the test of time like Herkules. The company reached its peak of expansion in Grundsund. During the summer of 1955 the factory was moved to Uddevalla, Sweden. 6

The headquarters and parts of the production remained in Sweden. Grundéns sponsored the racing boats Sverige, Independence, Enterprise and Courageous in their America s Cup endeavor. All crew members wore Grundéns rainwear. Brothers Mike and Dave Jackson, both commercial fishermen, acquire the distribution rights for North America and Grundéns USA is launched. Grundéns South America was established in Santiago, Chile. Grundéns moves its world headquarters to Boras, Sweden and launches a new website, product catalogue and graphic identity. Grundéns relocates its production factory to a larger facility in the same region of Portugal and increases production to keep up with growing demand. 7

Grundén made his first pair of oilskins on the Swedish West Coast over a century ago, Grundéns has been dedicated to producing professional rainwear for rugged outdoor individuals who harvest the oceans for food, build shelters for families and construct the factories, roads, bridges, and airports on which the world s industries depend. HDX - THE MATERIAL WITH RAW DURABILITY HDX is the name of our garments made from PVC-coated fabrics (Polyvinylchloride).
