1 CHAPTER THREE UNIFORM COMPONENTS SECTION 4: INSTRUCTOR UNIFORMS 1. GENERAL NOTES INSTRUCTOR DRESS BLUE INSTRUCTOR DRESS WHITE INSTRUCTOR SUMMER WHITE INSTRUCTOR WINTER BLUE INSTRUCTOR NAVY WORKING UNIFORM INSTRUCTOR CAMOUFLAGE UTILITY INSTRUCTOR UNIFORMS 3401 GENERAL NOTES 1. Uniform of the Day. Section 1200 outlines the authority for the prescribed uniform of the day, based on local command authority, safety considerations and climatic considerations. 2. Required Uniforms. While Section 1202 delegates prescribed uniform requirements to the local command authority. The following uniforms should be considered a minimum for participation as an instructor in the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. a. Dress Blues b. Summer Whites c. Service Khakis 3. Optional Uniforms. These uniforms are optional, and may be required to participate in additional activities or training evolutions as an instructor in the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. While a member is not required to maintain a set of those items listed, they are included to provide guidance for wear in case the need arises, member chooses to obtain, or safety of personnel dictates the wearing of the referenced uniform. a. Winter Blues b. Navy Working Uniform c. Camouflage Utility Uniform 4. Uniformity. Uniformity is paramount. Personnel will wear the appropriate uniform for the occasion. It is unprofessional to wear working uniforms to ceremonies, parades, public appearances, or when Cadets are in dress uniforms. 5. Safety and Comfort. Uniforms prescribed for wear should be selected when all issues in regards to member safety and comfort have been reviewed and considered. 3-35

Optional Components 1) Coat, All-Weather, Black ) Earmuffs ) Gloves, Black/White ) Jacket, Service, Black ) Overcoat, Black ) Reefer ) Scarf, White ) Sweater, V-Neck, Black ) Name/Identification Tag ) Medals c. Occasion for Wear 1) May be prescribed for wear year-round to all official functions when civilian equivalent dress is coat and tie. 2) Full Dress Blue when worn with large medals. 3) Dinner Dress Blue when worn with miniature medals and bowtie. d. Notes 1) Service Jacket or V-neck sweater is authorized for wear while commuting, in public places, and for attending workinglevel meetings/briefings, but not authorized for ceremonies and meetings where the Service Dress Blue Coat is more appropriate. 2) Black gloves will only be worn with outer garments/foul weather clothing. 3-36
