1 The Only Thing Your New Windows Can t Do Is Clean Themselves Window Cleaning Guide Our windows do a lot of things they save you money, they insulate your home, they brighten your rooms, they even guarantee themselves for life. What can t they do? Clean themselves. Our proprietary Low-E4 technology makes the exterior glass easy to clean, but you still need to spritz and clean them about every 6 months. Windows need to be lubricated too. Everything you need is right here in your Clean and Shine Kit. Kit includes: Window Cleaner, Window Lubricant, Micro Fiber Cleaning Towel. Additional supplies are available at Cleaning Your Double-Hung Windows The first thing to do to clean your windows is to raise the bottom sash. At the top of the window, inside the track, you ll find a plastic clip on each side. Slide these clips down into the bottom sash until they click in place. Pull the sash firmly towards you. Rest the lower window sash on a chair or stool if possible. Now push the plastic clips back to the top of the window. 5. Lower the top window sash to just above the bottom sash s edge. Inside the top of this frame are two sliding clips. Slide both of these clips toward the center, which releases the window, and pull the window out toward you. Spray WINDOW CLEANER on the outside glass of the top window sash and clean it with the micro fiber towel in your Clean and Shine Kit. Note: any outside grilles are not detachable, so you ll need to clean around them. Next, spray silicone LUBRICANT in the window tracks when the sashes are open. Spray the outside and inside tracks on both sides of the window with Mr. Rogers Easy Glide, or other silicone window lubricant. Lubricate both the upper and lower sections of the window. 8. Lift the top window sash and push it back into its track. It will click into place. If your window has interior grilles, pop them off and put them aside. Then spray and clean the inside glass of the top sash, and snap any grilles back into place. 9. Repeat the same process with the bottom sash, cleaning both the outside and inside glass surfaces. Lift the sash, push it back into the frame. LOWER THIS SASH TO RELEASE THE SAFETY BRAKE that secures your window while cleaning. Then the window will move up and down easily. 10. There, you re done! Lock the window or open it fully and enjoy the easy-clean shine. After cleaning your windows, you may encounter a couple of problems. Problem: you cannot raise your bottom sash. The safety brake that holds your sash in place during cleaning is still engaged. Simply lower the window sash completely then it will raise easily. Problem: window will not lock. If your window is misaligned after cleaning, it will not lock. To fix this, raise the top sash firmly until you are sure it is all the way to the top of the window frame. Then lower the bottom sash firmly and try the lock again. Raise bottom sash 6-8 inches. Move plastic clips down from the top of the frame. Press plastic clips firmly into bottom sash Pull the sash firmly towards you; it pivots on its bottom edge, opening like an oven door. 1 cont.

2 5. Provide some kind of support for the sash so that it s easier to reach when you clean it. 9. Raise the clips out of the way so you can bring down the top sash. 1 1 Spray some cleaner on the outside glass and clean it in with the towel Raise the sash and firmly press it back in its track. Spray lubricant on the tracks in the upper section of your window. 1 Push the frame firmly back into its track and remove interior grilles. Spray and clean the outside of the bottom sash. 18. Grip any interior grilles firmly and gently pull to remove them. 1 Remember to lubricate both the interior and the exterior tracks. 1 Also spray lubricant on the tracks in the lower section of your window. Wash release clips slide toward the center of the frame to release the sash. Lower the top sash, leaving some room between the two sashes. 10. Pull the top sash out to rest on the chair as well Before raising the window, LOWER THE BOTTOM SASH to release the safety stop. Clean the inside glass before replacing your grilles. 2 Correctly aligned lock and lock plate will close easily. 2 If the sashes are misaligned, the sliding lock will miss the lock plate.

3 Removing the Screen on your Double Hung Window To remove your screen, first open the bottom sash of your window, then release the two latches on either side of the screen by moving them towards the center and pushing the screen out slightly. Take hold of the screen on both sides. Tilt the screen down until it is flat. Then angle it so that it can fit between the jambs of your window. Pull the screen through your window. To clean it off, take it outside and run a hose over it, or use a sponge. 5. To replace the screen, simply reverse the steps you took to remove it. Reach through and unlatch the screen on both sides. Push the screen out slightly and hold it on either side. Tilt the screen down and angle it diagonally across the open window. Pull the screen inside through your window. Cleaning Your Gliding Windows First, slide the interior sash to the center of the window opening. Lift the interior sash into the head jamb and pull the bottom end out toward you. Now lower the sash and move it entirely out of the frame. Repeat the same process with the other sash. Spray WINDOW CLEANER on the outside glass of each sash and clean the window using the micro fiber towel. 5. If your window has interior grilles, pop them off and put them aside. Then spray some cleaner on the interior glass of each sash and clean the window with the micro fiber towel. Snap your grilles back into place when you are done. Next lubricate the window s sliding tracks while the window sashes are out. Spray the exterior and interior tracks on the bottom of the window with Mr. Rogers Easy Glide, the silicone window lubricant in your Clean and Shine Kit. To replace your windows, take the sash that fits in the outside track first and lift it at a slight angle into the head jamb, then push the sash toward the window and lower it into the track. Repeat with the second sash. 8. There, you re done! Lock the window or open it fully and enjoy the easy-clean shine. Center the sash before removing it. Lift the sash into the head jamb and pull the bottom towards you by lifting it over the bottom track. Remove the whole sash from the window frame and set it on the floor. Move the second sash to the center of the frame. 3 cont.

4 5. 8. Lift it into the head jamb and tilt the bottom towards you to remove it completely. Spray window cleaner on the outside glass of each sash and clean them with a towel. Grip grilles firmly and gently pull to remove them. Be sure to lubricate both the inside and outside tracks Lift the outside sash into the exterior head jamb and tilt it back into its track. Lift the inside sash into the interior head jamb and tilt it back into its track. Removing the Screen on Your Gliding Windows To remove your screen, release the two latches on either side of the screen. Release the latches and take hold of the screen on either side and lift it inside by moving them toward the center and pushing the screen out slightly. To clean it off, take it outside and run a hose over it, or use a sponge. To replace the screen, simply reverse the steps you took to remove it. Unlatch the screen on both sides. Push the screen out slightly and hold it firmly. Tilt the screen slightly and bring it inside. 4

5 Cleaning Your Casement Windows Before you clean your casement windows, you need to remove the screens. Pull the two clips on the bottom of the screen in toward you, pull the screen toward you and lift over the hardware, if needed. Window screens can be cleaned by hosing them off. Now open the window until it s at a 90 degree angle to your house. Reach out between the frame and the sash and spray some WINDOW CLEANER on the glass and clean the exterior glass surface with the micro fiber towel. Next LUBRICATE the metal moving parts that keep it functioning smoothly. Spray the metal bar where it rotates, spray under the sash where the bar connects to the sash and spray the snugger handle joints with Mr. Rogers Easy Glide, the silicone window lubricant in your Clean and Shine Kit. 5. Close the window to clean your interior glass. Replace the screens. There, you re done! Lock the window or open it and enjoy the easy-clean shine. Grip both clips and pull them in towards the center of the screen. Pull the screen toward you slightly, then lift and pull it inside. Crank the window open 90 degrees you will be able to reach through easily. Reach through and clean the outside surface from inside your house. 5. Spray the metal lever and cranking mechanism with lubricant. Spray lubricant on the snugger joints on the inside of the frame Close your window, spray some cleaner on the inside surface, and rub it in with a towel. 5
