High Fashion Make-up High Fashion Make-up is the type of make-up used on individuals, most likely talents, during fashion event. The objective is to create appearance that match and suit with the colour, event theme, costume, accessories, lighting effect and environment. High fashion make-up is achieved using cosmetic, paint, wigs and other accessories. The person who is competent in this competency unit shall be able to examine talent s face, apply make-up according to event requirement and perform post make-up according to client s requirement The outcome of this competency is to produce unique look of talent who are performing stage performance. 1. Analyse high fashion make-up job scope 2. Prepare work area, tools, equipment and make-up products 1.1 Job specification is defined and confirmed with client through discussion 1.2 Event theme is indicated and defined with client 1.3 Talent s costume and accessories are indicated and confirmed with client 1.4 Lighting requirement with regard to the job specification is determined through discussion with photoghraper and event manager 1.5 High fashion event schedule is obtained from the client 2.1 Work plan is prepared with regard to the event schedule 2.2 Work area is organised with regard to emergency procedure 2

3 2.3 Make-up tools, equipment and products are arranged accordingly 2.4 Work area ergonomics, deportment and posture are practised. 2.5 Workplace cleanliness and personal hygiene are maintained 3. Examine talent s face 3.1 Talent s face structure, skin type and skin is checked to identify any defect 3.2 Talent s contra indication is identified 3.3 Face analysis result is explained to the talent 3.4 Suitable product is selected and recommended to the talent 3

Carry our high fashion make-up to the talent 4.1 Face and selected boody area are cleaned 4.2 Base products are selected with regard to the face analysis result and applied on the talent s face guideline 4.3 Suitable eyebrow pencil is use to colour talent s eyebrow. 4.4 Suitable eye-shadow colours are chosen, blended and applied on the talent s upper eyelid. 4.5 Suitable eyeliner colour is chosen and applied on the edges of the talent s eyelids. 4.6 Suitable mascara colour is chosen and applied on the talent s eyelash 4.7 Suitable blusher colours are chosen, blended and applied on the talent s cheek. 4.8 Suitable lip liner colours are chosen, blended and applied on the edges of the talent s lips 4.9 Suitable lipstick colours are chosen, blended and applied on the talent s lips 4.10 Suitable lip gloss colours are chosen, blended and applied on the talent s s lips 4

5 4.11 Work area, tools and equipment cleanliness and hygiene are maintained 5. Carry out make-up finishing 5.1 Refreshing water ( such as: charge water, thermal spray water ) is sprayed on the talent s face for make-up lasting 5.2 Finished make-up is checked to ensure quality furnishing 5.3 Talent is dressed and accessorised accordingly 5.4 Talent s hair is styled 5.5 Talent s make-up is touched up and enhanced to maintain pleasant make-up 5.6 Make-up is carried out according to allocated time/ duration 6. Perform post make-up activities 6.1 Effectiveness of high fashion make-up is checked to ensure client s requirement is complied. 6.2 Feedback from client is recorded and analysed for service improvement. 5

6 6.3 Make-up products residues are cleaned and tidied up in accordance with company housekeeping practice. 6.4 Make-up tools are disinfected, sanitised and sterilised in accordance with company SOP 6.5 Make-up products are counted, listed, replenished, arranged and stored in accordance with company inventory procedures. 2. Body Art painting Body Art Painting is a service offered to individuals who want to have painted artwork on their body. This could be for the purpose of an event, making a statement to draw attention to a specific cause, or as a mere fashion accessory. Body Art Painting can be as simple as drawing and colouring a pattern on a single part of the body, or as complicated as painting the whole body in intricate work of art. The objective of Body Art Painting is to highlight the artwork to match the theme and purpose of the event for film production purposes 1. Identify client requirements 1.1 Job specification is defined and confirmed with client 1.2 Body art design and concept is determined and proposed to the client through discussion 1.3 Costume and accessories are indicated and confirmed with client 2. Prepare body art tools, equipment, products and work area 2.1 Work area is organised with regard to emergency procedure 2.2 Make-up tools, equipment and products are arranged accordingly 6

7 The personnel who are competent in this competency unit shall be able to draw art on the client s selected body area using make-up colour or washable paint, accessories and colour the drawing creatively according to the client s desire. The outcome of this competency is to produce creative body drawing for certain purposes and to portray creating look on the individual s body according to job specification and client s requirement 2.3 Workplace cleanliness and personal hygiene is maintained 2.4 Work area ergonomics, deportment and posture are practised. 2.5 Safe keeping of the client s/ talent s belongings and make-up area for client/talent privacy is advised 3. Carry out skin cleansing 3.1 Client s /Talent s skin condition is indicated through visual check 3.2 Oil and dirt is removed from the selected body area in 3.1 Unnecessary hairs are indicated and removed from selected body area 7

Cary out body art drawing and colouring 4.1 Body art colours are selected and blended 4.2 Body art is drawn on the selected body area 4.3 Body drawing is coloured in accordance with job specification 4.4 Body art is accessorised in accordance with job specification 4.5 Coating spray is applied on the drawing to ensure art drawing lasting. 4.6 Finished body art is checked to ensure quality furnishing 5. Perform post body art painting 5.1 Feedback from client is recorded and analysed for service improvement. 5.2 Body art painting products residues are cleaned and tidied up in accordance with company housekeeping practices 5.3 Body art painting tools are disinfected, sanitised and sterilised in accordance with company SOP and post make-up procedure 8

9 5.4 Body art painting products are counted, listed, replenished, arranged and stored in accordance with company inventory procedures. 1. Special Effect make-up Special Effect Make-up is used on actors in a film or drama production. Similar to film make-up, Special Effect make-up plays a big role in transforming the actors into their played characters as required by the script. Dramatic effect such as the face of a ghost or a monster, scars, bullet wounds or blood is created using cosmetics, liquid latex, liquid silicone and other materials. Artificial blood, accessories such as painted masks and specially-designed wigs are normally used to make the character look more realistic. The person who is competent in this compotency shall be able to develop special effect mould, apply make-up on the special effect mould and talent to meet client s requirement. 1. Analyse client s requirement 1.1 Client s requirement is identified and confirm with client through discussion. 1.2 Film script and storyboard is analysed to identify the requirement 1.3 Job scope and job specification is defined and confirmed with client 1.4 Type of special effect is indicated with regard to the script and storyboard requirement. 1.5 Specially effect budget is estimated with regards to the job specification and confirmed with client 1.6 Film shooting schedule is obtained from client The outcome of this competency is 9

10 to produce special effect on the talent s body according to the script and storyboard requirements 2. Prepare special effect make up materials, tools and equipment 2.1 Work area is organised with regard to emergency procedure 2.2 Tools, equipment and products to execute special effect make-up are arranged accordingly 2.3 Workplace cleanliness and personal hygiene are maintained 2.4 Work area ergonomics, deportment and posture are practised. 3. Develop special effect mould. 3.1 Special effect shape is designed and developed according to the job specification 3.2 Special effect mould is coloured in accordance with job specification 3.3 Main talent s is explained with regard to the special effect mould 4. Apply make-up on the special effect mould and talent 4.1 Special effect mould is fixed to the talent 4.2 Make-up applied on the special effect mould and talent. 10

11 4.3 Special effect is accessorised with regard to the script requirement 4.4 Main talent Test Look approved by the client. 5. Carry out post make-up 5.1 Accurateness of special effect is checked with regard to the job specification and client s requirement 5.2 Feedback from client is recorded and analysed for service improvement. 5.3 Special effects material and make-up residues are cleaned and tidied up in accordance with company housekeeping practice. 5.4 Tools are disinfected, sanitised and sterilised in accordance with company SOP 5.5 Make-up products are counted, listed, replenished, arranged and stored in accordance with company inventory procedures 11

Make-up Artistry Customer Relations Services Make-up artistry customer relation services is an activity that aim to build up relationship with customers in make-up artistry job area that include distributors, dealers and general public. The person who is competent in this competency unit shall be able to assess customer relations service specification and requirements, perform customer relations service, evaluate customer relation services effectiveness and report customer relation service activities to maintain and sustain customer relationship and to meet company s goal. The outcome of this competency is to create business sustainability by providing excellent customer service and creating good relationship with customers in accordance with company Client Charter 1. Assess customer relations service specification and requirements 2. Prepare customer relations services action plan 1.1 Company make-up services are defined 1.2 Customer relations status is analysed 1.3 Customer complaint issue is defined 1.4 Company client charter is interpreted 2.1 Customer relation activities to be implemented are arranged accordingly 2.2 Customer relations service activities proposal is prepared 2.3 Budget needed to implement customer relations activities is estimated 2.4 Corrective actions to solve customer complaint are listed out 2.5 Meeting with customers (such as distributor and dealers) is arrange 2.6 Product sample, catalogue, flyers, gift voucher are arranged 12

15 3. Airbrush Make-up Airbrush Make-up is a type of makeup used on individuals using airbrush machine and water-based cosmetic. The objective is to create an extra-ordinary and attractive make-up output for the purpose of photography session, stage event, wedding or film production. This ensures safe and clean to the individual who is worn the airbrush make-up.. The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to analyse client s requirement, examine client s face, perform face cleansing and base product application, apply make-up using airbrush machine, carry out make-up finishing and perform post make-up according to client s requirement. The outcome of this competency is to produce excellent look to cater high definition (HD) version using airbrush machine according to client s requirement. 1. Analyse client s requirement 1.1 Client s requirement is identified 1.2 Purpose of airbrush make-up is indicated and confirmed with client 1.3 Job specification is defined and discussed with client for confirmation 2. Prepare work area, airbrush machine, tools, equipment and products 2.1 Work area is organised with regard to emergency procedure. 2.2 Airbrush machine is prepared in accordance with SOP 2.3 Make-up tools, equipment and products are arranged accordingly 2.4 Workplace cleanliness and personal hygiene are maintained 2.5 Work area ergonomics, deportment and posture are practised. 2.6 Safe keeping of client belongings and work area are advised and maintained for client privacy 15

Examine client s face 3.1 Client s face structure, skin type, skin texture and skin defect defined to determine client s contra indication. 3.2 Client s face condition is explained to the client. 3.3 Suitable products are recognised with regards to the skin analysis result. 4. Perform face cleansing and base product application 4.1 Oil and dirt removed from face and selected body area in accordance with face cleansing technique 4.2 Unnecessary hairs indicated and removed 4.3 Primer and ampoules or moisturiser are applied on client s face 4.4 Client s eyebrow is shaped and client s skin radiant is enhanced 5. Apply make-up using airbrush machine 5.1 Selected base products are applied on the client s face using airbrush 5.2 Eyebrow is coloured 16

17 5.3 Suitable eye shadow colours are chosen, dropped into the solution cup, mixed and sprayed on client s upper eyelid 5.4 Suitable blusher colours are chosen, dropped into the solution cup, mixed and sprayed on client s cheek 5.5 Suitable lipstick colours are chosen, dropped into the solution cup, mixed and sprayed on client s lips. 5.6 Suitable lip liner colours are chosen, dropped into the solution cup, mixed and sprayed on the edges of the clients lips 6. Carry out make-up finishing 6.1 Suitable mascara colour is chosen and applied on the client s eyelash 6.2 Fake eyelashes is fixed 6.3 Lip gloss is applied on the client s lips 6.4 Coating is sprayed using airbrush machine for makeup lasting 17

Perform post airbrush make-up 7.1 Effectiveness of airbrush make-up is checked to ensure client s requirement is complied. 7.2 Feedback from client is recorded and analysed for service improvement. 7.3 Airbrush make-up products residues are cleaned and tidied up in accordance with company housekeeping practice 7.4 Make-up tools are disinfected, sanitised and sterilised in accordance with company SOP 7.5 Make-up products are counted, listed, replenished, arranged and stored in accordance with company inventory procedures. 7.6 Airbrush machine is cleaned and up-kept. 18

19 8. Hair Styling Hair styling aims to transform individuals hair look to their desired look by cutting, colouring, shaping and accessorising the hair according to the client s requirement. It creates an attractive appearance and personality that suit with the make-up as required by fashion event, film shooting or photography session. In some dramatic effect, hair styling creates different look such as ghost and monster as required by the script and film production. The person who is competent in this competency unit shall be able to analyse client s hair and scalp condition, carry hair curl and wave styling, braiding, and hair up style and style client s hair in various shape, form and style according to client s requirement. The outcome of this competency is to produce various types of hair style to match with client s make-up look, event theme and individuals character. 1.
