Experimental stations invite the visitors to explore the vast product variety and offer a personalized skin care experience. New hair care trends in the initiative Turning Heads, innovation seminars and the color forecast for spring and summer 2019 are further highlights of this year s event. Heading into its 28 th edition, the in-cosmetics with its roughly 780 exhibitors is the leading platform for the Personal Care Industry. Under the tagline Made to Experience, visitors can literally come into contact with Merck s products. Three experimental stations provide a rich variety of active ingredients, functional fillers and effect pigments to explore and combine. Supported by Merck specialists, visitors can create their own tailored cosmetic product. The first station is the Active Solutions station. Using a short questionnaire, visitors can choose from a range of innovative as well as natural ingredients that are specifically chosen to meet individual skin demands. These unique ingredients offer a variety of positive effects such as moisturizing, protecting or improving the skin. 2 In addition, guests can also learn more about a new in vivo study on RonaCare Cyclopeptide-5 alcoholfree, which confirms its strong anti-aging efficacy. The Functional Fillers experimental station is all about touching, feeling and creating. This station offers visitors a chance to explore a broad selection of multi-functional fillers from the RonaFlair -range and experience their mattifying, skin correcting and texture improving capabilities. The station also enables guests to formulate the perfect foundation for their individual skin color. The last experimental station is dedicated to the colorful world of effect pigments. Merck s new Color Palette presentation tool for the first time enables guests to discover their eclectic pigment portfolio in its entirety. This also includes the company s newest creations: Ronastar Iconic Copper and Ronastar Quantum Gold. These two new pigments in the Merck color portfolio are a combination of interference and color pigments that creates a multi-dimensional metallic effect that plays directly with current trends. With intensive color and mirror-like reflections, these new pigments are predestined for spectacular lip, nail and eye makeup. They also make for a dramatic impression in liquid cosmetics and personal care products like soaps, lotions or shampoos. Both pigments provide a brilliance that appears larger than the actual particle size, combining a unique optical effect with a surprisingly smooth feeling when applied to the skin. Merck also expands its Smart Effects innovation program with a new range of crystal-lustrous effect pigments under the name Effects of Light. Their new, highly engineered Ronastar Golden Lights pigment features a golden, crystal-like sparkle, combined with metallic shimmer and a great visual depth. The pigment plays with the incoming light, adding a new dimension of sparkle to cosmetic formulations. Another highlight for curious visitors will be the first appearance of Merck s new luminous matte pigment Ronastar Black Allure in a sneak peek presentation. With Eusolex S, the company presents the newest member of their Light Protection portfolio. Eusolex S is a key organic UV filter that has high efficiency UV-A and -B absorption as well as an excellent photo stability. What s more, it also has a strong Seite 2 von 5

3 stabilizing effect on other, photo-unstable UV filters. This makes it excellent to create modern anti-aging products as well as anti-pollution and alphabet creams. Another key focus topic will be the initiative Turning Heads. From black beard cream to temporary hair coloring, the new Turning Heads kit presents the latest trends in hair care. It showcases a broad variety of formulation examples for non-permanent coloring products and new textures. The company s wide range of special effect pigments and active ingredients for powerful hair care will be available for detailed exploration. Head lice are generally transferred by close physical contact with a person who has lice. Having head lice is unpleasant and scratching itchy louse bites can lead to bacterial infection. Products that contain IR3535 can help avoid the potential side effects of traditional lice treatments. A bio-clinical study with IR3535 has given the proof that one application protects for at least two days if the product is not rinsed off with water: An outstanding result in comparison to some natural actives used as repellents. The tolerance was excellent. Nor irritation, redness or itching in any of the groups was found. A preferred formulation as a pump spray against head lice has been authorized according to the Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR) in Europe and the mutual recognition process today is completed.
