4 Hairdressing Shelley Pengilly Shelley is the UK Brand Ambassador for milk_shake hair products and part of the z.one concept creative team. Her passion is hair up and styling and she lives to push her creative boundaries. She is also an International Educator for milk_shake. Shelley has over 20 years of industry experience and is the owner and creative director of the award winning boutique salon Shelley s Salon in Wales, which has been successfully trading for over 12 years. Shelley s Personal accolades include winning Women s Stylist of the Year in 2014 and 2016, being a finalist for the Alternative Hair Show s International Visionary Award in 2016 and 2017, and being selected as a finalist in the Avant Garde hairdresser of the Year Category in the British hairdressing Awards in World of Up Dos Overview: This course is for any qualified stylists who want to improve their confidence in hair up and learn exciting new techniques. Goal: To leave the course feeling inspired and confident in the foundations and finishing of hair up. Content: Creating the perfect foundation for hair up and styling, Getting to know your kit and products and how best to use them, Hands-on workshop, Creating bespoke styles for clients, Consultation guide how to get to know exactly what your client wants. There are areas of this course that can be taken into Bridal styling. The course always involves classic styling techniques but with an added contemporary twist based on current trends and styles. Goal: To leave the course inspired and with confidence in your braiding abilities. Content: This course will teach students how to create different types of braids using various techniques and products. Starting with a back to basics guide and working up to more creative braiding, the course is suitable for all skill levels. Drawing on inspiration from fashion and red carpet styles, Shelley will teach you how to adapt the latest trends to create gorgeous commercial styles. The course includes guidance in both commercial and editorial braiding including teaching you how to incorporate braids into hair up styling. 5 Hairdressing Hary Denning Joss Smith-Reynolds I trained at Vidal Sassoon, an experience that has helped shape my personal style and approach. I have spent the last 15 years as a salon owner. Alongside countless fashion shows and photo shoots I still spend much of my time behind the chair. It s incredibly important to me to stay hands-on and to be in touch with the challenges you face every day. I am still driven by a passion to raise the profile and the knowledge in our industry and I believe that the only way to do this is to better educate ourselves to be more proficient at what we do it s never been just a job for me, it s my profession. My sessions are designed to be exciting, fun and personally challenging for both you and me. I understand how a great cut can have a positive impact on someone s life and I want to share that with you. Our education team have developed courses that are interesting and innovative, we recognise the different levels of learning and are able to flex the courses to the different needs of the group and the individual. Harry started his career with Toni&Guy working his way to top stylist whilst being involved with both session hair and photo shoots, also being offered the chance to teach in the Toni&Guy Academy as an Art Director. In order to broaden his horizons and learn different styles of work and techniques he moved to a smaller yet growing company. After working with Anthony Mascolo and Nick Irwin on the Inspirational Youth project where he was selected as one of ten inspiring young hairdressers in the UK, he then began to share his experiences and knowledge back in the salons colleges. His aim is to bring all this experience and knowledge to our courses at PHAB, his goal is to change the way we develop and progress learners into becoming inspired and motivated hairdressers. The revolution is coming. Smith + Denning - Taking it to the next level Overview: This cutting course focuses on how to build and create haircuts using easy to learn simple techniques. Your work will become more polished and creative. As your confidence and skill increases so will your clientele. The better you are, the busier you are. 6 Hairdressing James Beaumont James has been in the hairdressing industry for eleven years. His passions include styling and colouring both women and men, but his true specialty lies with barbering. He s been working with Keune UK since 2011, teaching, training and presenting. When he s is not away presenting, you ll find him in working in either of his two Devon salons. James has a natural flair for working with short hair and he s always focused on staying ahead of the curve. His client base comprises of 50% men s and 50% ladies styling and he s at the forefront of many trends and innovations in the Hairdressing world. During the course of his career, he s undertaken many editorial challenges, culminating in several barbering awards as well as recognition in magazines. Recently he was a finalist at the British Master Barber awards finalist and became a British Barber Association Hall of Fame Winner. Ladies Bespoke Short Styling Overview: This course will be a day of inspirational techniques from disconnections to texturizing and will inspire stylists, developing classic cutting techniques and showcasing the versatility of short hair. This course will be broken down into two sections with two demonstrations taking place in the morning and a practical session in the afternoon where James will be on hand to assist and advise stylists whist they work on models. Content: This course will feature a demonstration of the Garren Blowout followed by the half up style and ponytail into chignon. Brand Philosophy, consultation, demonstrations on toss dry, sectioning, direct blow-dry, half up style and chignon. Model Qualification: Graduate, Intermediate, Expert Course Educator: Natasha Briggs Leading R+Co salon product knowledge education, Natasha has immersed herself in the R+Co know-how becoming a dynamic mentor, leading teams at both Milan and London shows on the fashion circuit. Natasha has quickly become the go-to with a solid working knowledge of the complete brand. R+Co Global Artist for the UK & Ireland is AIPP global award winner Jason Hall. His catalogue of work has been noted within the British Hairdressing Awards as Scottish Hairdressers of the Year and specialist category Men s Hairdresser of the year finalists. With 30 years of industry experience and an enviable body of creative work, Jason leads the UK + Ireland Education team. Course Educator: Natasha Pearson Known for her expertise in both editorial and avant-garde styling, Natasha has had a wealth of work published with a global footprint. 8 Barbering Tom Chapman Tom is a barber, educator and lover of men s hair. He works with many top brands to help test and develop new innovations before they hit the market, as well as developing how-to videos and images. He s also a celebrated session stylist and his work has graced front covers. Tom opened Tom Chapman Hair Design in Torquay UK five years ago and has been educating all over the world since. He s been on stages in the UK, the US, Brazil and across Europe. He s been a competition finalist four times, including for the Wahl Barber of the Year contest. In September 2015, Tom founded The Lions Barber Collective, which started as a group of international barbers raising awareness for suicide prevention. The collective has grown and now also promotes mental health awareness with the barbershop as a safe space for men to talk at its centre. He s in the midst of developing BarberTalk, a form of suicide intervention and mental health awareness course designed especially for barbers. Bespoke Beginners Barbering Overview: This is a great day where you will learn how to create those classic looks which are very current and on trend. We will have a full day with demo s in the morning showing you exactly how to take these client pleasers to the next level. In the afternoon a workshop will take place (so don t forget that model!) Tom will spend time with each stylist making sure to help you iron out those techniques which will set you apart from the rest. Each day will hold a discussion before to ensure we get the most out of our time for those attending. Who Should attend: Stylists with less than 2 years clipper experience. On this day you will learn about: Clipper care, Tapering, Blending/fading, Building weight, Creating strong masculine shapes, Hairlines, Styling, Blow drying, Product knowledge, Crowns. Qualification: Graduate, Intermediate Bespoke Advanced Barbering Overview: On this Advanced Fading day you will learn how to use fading as your ally. It is a great tool which many of our clients ask for all the time in many different ways, so on this day you will be shown how to use skin fades as well as the more adventurous techniques such as 4am fades and using your detailers to create more points of interest. In the afternoon a workshop will take place (so don t forget that model!) Tom will spend time with each stylist making sure to help you iron out those techniques which will set you apart from the rest. 9 Barbering Barber Fusion Mark Gaughan Mark has been in the industry for over 15 years and has worked in cities all around the world, before founding The Groom Room Barbershop in Torquay 8 years ago. More recently Mark has expanded his business into Newton Abbot with his second barbershop. In his shops, he has a focus on a strong team culture and roots that date back to over 100 years of Barbering history, though he can link his success to his early days coming up through a salon. Locally, he has worked on pop up events, collaborating with other businesses to expand the Groom Room brand. Mark also led the team responsible for styling the hair of competitors in the Mr World competition. Overview: Applying and developing transferable skills from hairdressing to create a men s look, texture is everything right now and men are moving in this direction. 10 Barbering Simon Shaw One of the most inspiring and motivating hairdressers within the industry, Simon Shaw, European Artistic Director of Wahl (UK) is known for his innovative and fun approach to hairdressing and education. Simon s innovation with the fantastic Wahl product range has been phenomenal. Providing inspirational cutting techniques using clippers, he is renowned for pushing the boundaries of design and cutting hair. Magazine editors across the world love seeing Simon and the Wahl (UK) Artistic Team s work, as it is both innovative and stylish. Simon is also considered a Grooming Guru within the industry with his very own monthly column which provides a host of quotes and advice for all of the trade magazines. Simon is known for his passion towards education, he designs, develops and hosts Wahl seminars and courses. As a result of their enthusiasm and innovation for hairdressing Simon and the Wahl (UK) Artistic Team are huge attractions at all of the major hairdressing exhibitions within the UK such as Salon International as well as overseas. In recent years Simon has travelled extensively to the USA, Africa, and Europe and was the first British hairdresser to undertake a hugely successful tour of Saudi Arabia. In 2014 Simon s hugely successful wet goods range, part of the Academy collection, won the Hair Awards best men s range. He then went on to win the first ever Grand Master Barber award. Now after many successful years with Wahl (UK), Simon is one of the most popular and highly regarded hairdressers within the industry. Passionate and committed with a desire to make every presentation, stage show or Academy seminar that he is part of fun and exciting, Simon is undoubtedly one of the leading stars within hairdressing. Carl Blake Leading the way in male grooming techniques, Carl Blake brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity that guarantees attention to detail and an inimitable quality that is rarely surpassed. With an impressive 25 years experience in the industry, Carl is an instrumental member of the Wahl Artistic Team. Carl s work is always in demand as he runs his own successful shop in West Sussex whilst he has also conducted and directed many photoshoots which have graced the front covers of Hairdressers Journal and Creative HEAD. Wahl - Specialist: The Shave Overview: The demand for male grooming has been steadily increasing over the last few years leading to a fantastic opportunity to grow salon profits by taking advantage of this expanding market. A wet shave can add an element of sophistication and luxury to your salon and offer your clients a new experience setting you apart from the competition. It doesn t take a long to learn the basics of traditional shaving however it is important to ensure that you and your staff are trained sufficiently to maintain professional standards and make sure that they have the confidence to deliver this special treatment. 11 Colour & Theory Andrew Smith Andrew Smith is a highly sought after session stylist, stage artist and owner of 3 Hampshire salons who has been recognised for his commitment to British hairdressing a finalist for the Ultimate Stylist in 2017 s Salon Business Awards. Andrew Smith has had an incredibly successful career in hairdressing to date and is recognised as a top educator and trainer by some of the worlds largest professional brands in hairdressing. He has a huge passion for education and training and is a highly sought after session stylist and stage artist and is a part of the milk_shake UK Creative Artist Team. Education with Andrew Smith offers incredible inspiration and expert training! Not only does Andrew run 3 successful Hampshire salons, he has also been recognised for his commitment to British hairdressing as a finalist for the Ultimate Stylist in 2017 s Salon Business Awards. He is a regular backstage on fashion shows with brands that include L.K Bennet, Versace and Henry Holland. Andrew is in high demand with local clients and celebrities alike, he can often be found taming the tresses of celebrities including Alexa Chung and Sophie Ellis Bexter. His work has been published in trade journals & glossies and he has invaluable advice to offer regarding photo-shoots, social media promotion and competitions. Look out for more courses with Andrew Super Balayage Overview: A brand new course in which Andrew empowers colourists with the knowledge and confidence to take their balayage skills to the next level. During the half-day course, delegates can sit back and be inspired by watching Andrew demonstrate Super Balayage which has become his trademark colour technique. 12 Colour & Theory Becky Wardrop Since I first started my hairdressing career, I have always had a passion for colour. I have gained my knowledge working alongside many talented colourists and hairdressers and involving myself into as much education and competitions as possible during the early stages of my career. I trained with Rush Hair, working my way up the ranks onto their workshop team, this gave me the opportunity to work with the Art team on photoshoots, stage work and education seminars. It was here that I realised education was the role I wanted to take my career to. That s when the wonderful world of milk_shake came to my attention. In 2014 I started working as a colour educator for milk_shake, this lead onto becoming a member of the milk_shake Artistic team as a colourist, taking part in staged events throughout the UK and Europe. In 2015 I became the brands Education Manager, looking after and arranging the education for milk_shake and No Inhibition. For me education is the key to becoming a successful and knowledgeable hairdresser, but it is also about having passion for what you do and I 100% LOVE what I do. Milk_Shake Discover Me Overview: This course is for any hairdresser on all levels that is new to the wonderful ways of milk_shake colour. Goal: To increase your confidence and give you a clear understanding of how the milk_shake colour brand operates. Content: The course will cover theory on its three main ranges; Creative, Smoothies and Direct Colour. The afternoon will involve a hands-on practical session using the ranges. Date: Monday 22nd January Cost: 50 + VAT What to Bring: FHK and model Qualification: Graduate, Intermediate, Expert Milk_Shake Enlighten Me Overview: This course is for any qualified stylist with at least 1 years experience on the salon floor. It is designed for the hairdresser that wants to gain more understanding and learn new techniques with lightening and toning hair. Goal: To expand the stylist s knowledge of lifting and toning hair with new techniques. 27 Terms & Conditions Booking conditions: We recommend you try to book PHAB Wholesale Education course as soon as possible as places may be limited and early bookings will reserve your place. Price & payment: All prices quoted in this brochure are subject to VAT. The full cost of the course will be payable at the time of booking. If full payment is not received at this point, your place will not be guaranteed until the full payment had been received. You will then receive your booking confirmation. However if you do not receive this confirmation please check with PHAB Wholesale before attending. This may be sent or ed to you. Cancellation of events by PHAB Wholesale: PHAB Wholesale may cancel the event if a minimum number of bookings are not received. If PHAB Wholesale has cancelled a training event the fee(s) will be refunded. PHAB Wholesale is not liable for any subsequent costs that are incurred as a result of cancellation. Course key Cancellation of bookings by you: For those unable to attend an event, a substitute delegate may be sent at any time at no extra charge. The full fee will be payable where cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to the event. We must be notified of any cancellations by to education@phabwholesale.com in all cases, cancellations after the course has been invoiced will be charged at the full rate. Charge for non-attendance at our events: Please note if you fail to turn up at the event for which you booked a place the full cost of the course will be charged. Please note: To ensure the very best results can be achieved for you and your model, it s important that the hair condition and porosity of each model is suitable for the proposed services. Are they the right model for you? Please remember, that to achieve the true objectives for the education session, you need to ensure your models are in tune with what you would like to achieve. If the educator feels the service may compromise the models hair then they may decline to offer the service. PHAB wholesale are not responsible for providing models for delegates, the responsibility lies with the person who is booked a place on the course. Hair Graduate A stylist starting to work on the salon floor. 1-2 years experience, needing confidence building around a specific area. Greater knowledge. Intermediate A stylist working in salon daily. 3-4 years experience. More knowledge, confidence and inspiration. Expert - 4+ years experience, inspiration and/or motivation required.
