2 DIY Aromatherapy Play Dough The cold weather usually means more time indoors. Entertain your kids this season by turning play time into learning time by making aromatherapy play dough! This activity is a great way for children to learn about aromatherapy and essential oils. Use a variety of oils and colors to help kids learn new scents. Some fun essential oils could include: Wild Orange, Peppermint, Lemon, Rosemary, or Lavender to help turn play time into nap time. 2 cups flour 2 cups colored water 1 cup salt 1 TBL olive oil 2 tsp cream of tartar 5 drops essential oils 1. Combine all ingredients, except for essential oils, in a large saucepan and stir until combined. 2. Once combined, put over medium heat. Using a spatula, continue to stir ingredients together until it forms a ball. Note: Don t overcook as it will lead to dry play dough. 3. Remove from heat and cool on parchment paper. 4. Once cool, add 5 drops of your favorite essential oil and knead until thoroughly combined. 5. You re done! Just store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for months of fun.

3 DIY Bath Salts We all like taking baths for different reasons. Even though a nice warm bath can be exactly what you need to make your day better, there are a couple extra ingredients that can make your soak in the tub even more beneficial. Ingredients 1 cup Epsom salt 10 drops favorite essential oil 1. Add essential oil to Epsom salt and stir together. 2. Draw a warm bath and add 1/4 cup - 1/2 cup of Epsom salt to bath

4 DIY Bubble Bath Bubble bath is great to use for all ages! However, most commercial bubble baths are full of artificial chemicals and fragrances and can be irritating to your skin. Making your own bubble bath out of essential oils is a great way to reduce chemicals in your home while still enjoying the fun and relaxing elements of a bubble bath. This bubble bath is gentle on your skin and can be customized with your favorite essential oil. Use Lavender or Serenity for relaxing benefits or Citrus Bliss or Peppermint to help wake you up. 1 cup unscented castile soap 1/2 cup vegetable glycerin 2 tablespoons water 15 drops of your favorite essential oil 1. Combine castile soap, glycerin, and water into glass bowl. 2. Add essential oils. 3. Stir until well combined. 4. Pour into glass container. To use, add 1/4-1/2 cup of bubble bath mixture to warm, running bath water. Note: These bubbles are not going to provide big fluffy bubbles that last a long time since it doesn't contain the synthetic ingredients that make them. However, this chemical-free bath will provide enough bubbles for a relaxing and therapeutic bath you will still enjoy.

5 DIY Chemical Free Fabric Softener Yield: 32 oz. Time: 10 minutes active Difficulty: Easy ½ gallon (2 cups) vinegar 1 cup baking soda 15 drops essential oil (optional) Glass storage container such as a large mason jar 1. Add baking soda to a bowl. 2. Very slowly drizzle in vinegar, allowing fizzing to slow down or stop before adding more. Whisk or stir constantly. 3. Add essential oils and stir. 4. Pour mixture into desired glass storage container. To use, give glass storage container a gentle shake to mix contents. Add to fabric dispenser in washing machine, or add ¼ cup to the washing machine.

6 DIY Glass Cleaner Yield: 2 cups (16 oz) Time: 5-10 minutes active Difficulty: Easy 1 cup Rubbing Alcohol 1 cup Water (distilled or tap) 1 TBL white Vinegar 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil (optional) Spray bottle 5. Combine all ingredients in your spray bottle. 6. To use, gently shake spray bottle to ensure ingredients are combined. Spray surface, and wipe with a soft cloth or paper towel.

7 DIY Chemical Free Soft Scrub Yield: 1 cup, enough for 2 4 applications Time: 5-10 minutes active Difficulty: Easy 3/4 rounded cup baking soda 1/4 cup unscented liquid castile soap 1 tablespoon water 1 tablespoon vinegar 5-10 drops Lemon essential oil Glass storage container such as a small mason jar 1. In bowl, combine baking soda and castile soap. 2. Add water and stir. 3. Add vinegar and essential oil. The consistency should be a soft paste. 4. Store in airtight container. 5. To use: a. Add ingredients directly to partially drained toilet bowl. As it reacts, scrub toilet. b. Spread ingredients around shower floor, kitchen sink, or bathroom sink. Allow to sit for several minutes, then scrub.

8 DIY Clay Mask Help cleanse and nourish your skin with this easy clay mask. It is great for all skin types and can be customized with your favorite essential oils. This recipe makes enough for one facial mask and should be applied to skin at least once a week for best results. 2 teaspoons bentonite clay 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar 1 drop Frankincense 1 drop Lavender 1 drop Melaleuca Note: Bentonite clay can be purchased at your local health food store. Do not use a metal bowl or spoon with bentonite clay as it can make it less effective 1. Combine clay and vinegar in bowl and stir until well combined. Tip: For a thicker mask, add an additional 1/2 teaspoon of clay. 2. Add essential oils. 3. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the areas around eyes and mouth. 4. Let dry for 5-15 minutes. 5. Rinse with warm water and follow with moisturizer.

9 DIY Coffee Scrub This coffee scrub is a great way to remove any dry skin that has built up over the winter. 1 cup ground coffee (preferably organic) ½ cup brown sugar (preferably organic) ¾ cup Fractionated Coconut Oil or other carrier oil ¼ cup vitamin E oil 20 drops essential oil such as grapefruit 1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl. 2. Apply on wet skin and gently rub in circles to help remove dry skin. 3. Store in airtight container.

10 DIY Diaper Cream Commercial diaper cream can be made of ingredients that can irritate a baby s delicate skin. This easy recipe is free of irritants and is great for soothing and softening skin. Just apply as needed. ¼ virgin coconut oil 15 drops Lavender essential oil 15 drops Melaleuca essential oil Glass storage container such as a small wide mouth mason jar 6. Melt coconut oil in a glass cup in the microwave or a double broiler on stove. 7. Add lavender and melaleuca essential oils. 8. Store in glass container and let cool. 9. Leave in a cool place and apply as needed.

11 DIY Dryer Balls Substituting chemically-driven fabric softeners for an all-natural, toxic-free alternative is much easier and more affordable than you might think. Follow this step-by-step tutorial to make your own wool dryer balls that can last for many years and can easily be scented with essential oils leaving your fabrics fragrant and soft. 100 percent wool yarn or other 100 percent animal yarn Pantyhose Upcycling Idea: Reuse pantyhose with runs in them 1. Take the end of the yarn and wrap it around your middle and index finger 10 times. Remove it from the fingers and wrap 2 3 times around the middle (it should look like a bow). This will be the start of your ball. 2. Continue tightly wrapping the yarn around the start, working toward making a round shape. Once your ball is roughly the size of a tennis ball, cut the yarn and tuck the ends into the sides of the ball. Repeat this process until you have created four or more balls of yarn. 3. Cut one leg off of the pantyhose. Place one ball into the bottom of the leg and tie a knot right above the ball to secure it in place. Repeat until all the balls have been added and secured. 4. Once the balls are tightly secured in the pantyhose, put them in the washer (can be with a load of dirty laundry) and wash on the hottest setting. This will allow the yarn

12 to felt. Felting will make the yarn fuse together, resulting in a solid ball. Once washed, dry the balls thoroughly in the dryer at the highest heat setting. 5. After the balls are completely dry, remove them from the pantyhose and they re ready for use! Before drying your next load of laundry, add your favorite essential oil to 4 6 dryer balls, toss them in the dryer, and enjoy the soft, fluffy, wonderful-smelling fruits of your labor. Tip: 2 3 drops of essential oil per ball should last a few loads. Add more drops if you would like a stronger scent.

13 DIY Moisturizing Lotion Bars Having a hard time dealing with dry skin? Made with beeswax, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and essential oils, these natural moisturizing lotion bars will nourish and soothe dry skin. Just rub the bar on your skin and let your body's natural heat melt the lotion. After one use, you won't know how you lived without it. ⅔ cup beeswax ½ cup coconut oil ½ cup cocoa butter 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil 15 drops essential oil such as Lavender, Wild Orange, or Serenity 1. Measure all ingredients, except for essential oils, in large glass jar. 2. Place jar in saucepan with inches of boiling water. 3. Stir ingredients until combined. 4. Once melted, remove from heat. Let rest 3 minutes. 5. Add essential oils and stir. 6. Pour mixture into silicone mold Tip: For an exfoliating lotion bar, add oatmeal to the bottom of the mold. Note: Could also put in a small 4x6 baking dish lined with wax paper and cut into rectangles. 7. Let mixture harden 2-3 hours. Wrap in plastic wrap and store in container until ready to use. Just rub lotion bar on skin for extreme moisture.

14 DIY Hand Purifier Spray This doterra On Guard hand cleansing spray is an easy and convenient way to clean your hands. Keep a bottle in your purse, car, or office for any time you need it. 1 TBL Aloe Vera Gel 20 drops OnGuard Essential Oil Water 4 oz. spray bottle 6. Add Aloe Vera Gel and OnGuard to spray bottle. 7. Fill spray bottle with water. 8. To use, give spray bottle a gentle shake, spray on hands, grocery cart handle, table, etc.

15 DIY Shaving Cream Fortified with natural lubricants and essential oils, this shaving cream improves razor glide for a close, comfortable shave. Great for men and women, this shaving cream will leave skin smooth, healthy, and moisturized. 1/3 cup shea butter 1/3 cup coconut oil 1/4 cup Fractionated Coconut Oil 5 drops Sandalwood essential oil 5 drops Peppermint essential oil 5 drops Melaleuca essential oil 1. Place all ingredients except for essential oils in double boiler. 2. Once melted, remove from heat and let sit 3 minutes. 3. Add essential oils and stir until combined. 4. Let shaving cream rest until hard. Tip: You can put it in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process. 5. Using hand or stand mixer, whip shaving cream until light and fluffy. 6. Place in container of choice.

16 DIY Sugar Scrub This scrub takes only a few ingredients and can easily be customized with your favorite colors and essential oils. 3/4 rounded white or brown sugar, preferably organic 1/4 cup coconut oil, may alternately use almond, avocado, olive or jojoba drops your favorite essential oil Glass storage container such as a small mason jar 9. In bowl, combine sugar and oil. Use more or less oil to get the consistency you like. 10. Add essential oil. 11. Store in glass container. 12. If giving as a gift, add a pretty bow and tag.

17 Citrus Bliss Dish Soap Everyone uses liquid dish soap so why not make your own? This super simple recipe is great for removing grease, adding shine, and waking up your senses. Ingredients 2 cups Castille Soap (I like Dr. Bronner s unscented) 20 drops Lime essential oil 8 drops Lemon Essential oil 6 drops Citrus Bliss Essential oil blend Fill a large, clean bottle with castille soap Add essential oils. Shake bottle before each use. You're done! Just add 1-2 tablespoons to dish water for use.
