7 FAQ S HOW DO I HEAT THE HOT WAXES AND STRIP WAXES? Lycon Hot Waxes and Lycojet Waxes are packaged in 1kg/2.2 lb blocks. To break up a block, place into a freezer bag and seal. Next, simply drop the block on a hard surface or hit with a mallet. The block will break into small pieces and can then be stored in the freezer bag. Lycon Strip Waxes are packaged in plastic containers. The 800ml jars can be heated directly in the LYCOpro Duo Heater and can be left in the heater all day long to keep the wax warm. The jar can be heated like this on a daily basis, over and over, without any effect to the jar or wax. The containers may be warmed in the microwave and then poured into our Wax Heater Inserts. WHAT IS THE NOTED LYCON STRIP WAXING TECHNIQUE? The Lycon Strip Wax application is very thin. Holding the Metal Spatula or disposable spatula of your choice at a 90 o angle to the body, spread wax as thinly as possible using reasonable pressure in the direction of hair growth. It is important to spread the wax very thinly and evenly. Place a Gentle Waxing Strip at a slight angle on the wax, rub firmly and remove briskly against the direction of hair growth. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LYCON HOT WAX AND LYCOJET WAX? Lycojet Waxes are applied at 1/3 the thickness of Lycon Hot Waxes, therefore, less wax is used per treatment, making Lycojet a more economical alternative for hot waxing. WHAT TEMPERATURE SHOULD I USE FOR THE HOT AND STRIP WAXES? All wax warmers heat differently, so it is best to warm the wax based on consistency versus temperature. As a general guideline, initially heat the Hot and Lycojet Waxes to 212 o F and then turn down to 131 o F for constant heating. Maintain strip waxes at 174 o F. The consistency should be like thin honey. I M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE HOT WAX. WHY IS IT BREAKING WHEN I REMOVE IT? Incorrect application is typically the cause for breaking. Follow these instructions for Lycon Hot Waxes and Lycojet Waxes. After cleansing the skin with Lycotane Skin Cleanser, massage a light application of Pre-Waxing Oil to the area. While holding the skin taut, firmly apply hot wax with and against the direction of hair growth using a wooden spatula using a motion similar to frosting a cake. Using firm pressure will create smooth and even edges. Make long oval shapes no thicker than the width of 3 fingers. When the wax is still pliable but no longer tacky, remove with a flexible wrist using a strong, confident pull. DO YOU PROVIDE TRAINING ON LYCON PRODUCTS? Prior to using Lycon Hot Wax, Pre-Waxing Oil is applied to the area and acts as a barrier between the skin and the wax. This allows the wax to shrink-wrap tightly around the hair and not stick to the skin, reducing client discomfort.
