2 Introduction Huntsman Textile Effects is committed to a textile industry that produces no unnecessary environmental harm and has a positive impact on the people and communities associated with its activities. In support of the Joint Roadmap Version 2: Towards Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals, Huntsman Textile Effects has developed a list of dyes and chemicals which do not intentionally contain any of the substances in the priority chemical groups above the limits listed in the ZDHC MRSL and therefore can be used to supply textiles to Brands that have signed up to the version 2 of the Joint Road Map. In addition, we do not intentionally introduce the listed substances that would be subsequently found on the textile above the limit values as stated in the AFIRM Group RSL guidance, when the products are applied as recommended. 3 In a Marketing Alliance with DuPont, Huntsman Textile Effects is selling products, which are used for the oil, water and stain repellent finish of textiles under the tradenames ZONYL / OLEOPHOBOL / PHOBOL. Among others these sales products contain perfluorinated chemicals as active ingredients. In line with the objective to eliminate products associated with PFOS and PFOA DuPont and Huntsman are already proactively engaged. PFOS and perfluoroalkyl sulfonates are not at all associated with ZONYL / OLEOPHOBOL / PHOBOL products for textiles manufactured by DuPont and sold by Huntsman. DuPont/ Huntsman fluorotelomer-based products are not made with, nor do they use, PFOA in the manufacturing process. However, PFOA is an unintended reaction by-product that is present at trace levels in some of these products. As part of our global product stewardship commitment since 2007, DuPont/ Huntsman commercialized a process for all concerned sales products, which removes nearly all trace levels of PFOA and direct precursors to PFOA in our products. Our objective is to have only textile products showing PFOA contents below LOQ (limit of quantification), which is defined as 2 ppm (Parts per Million) according to a peer-reviewed, published method (J. Chrom Sci. 2006, 110 (1-2), ). New DuPont Capstone / Huntsman PHOBOL CP products are based on shortchain chemistry that cannot break down to PFOA and provide a step-change reduction in trace impurities below the limit of detection, offering customers the same or better performance than their predecessors without a compromise in fluorine efficiency. 14 DYES Metal complex dyes/inks Textiles dyed or printed with metal complex dyes/inks must be tested to confirm that the highest fastness levels have been achieved in order to comply with the extractable metals limits. It is possible that an aftertreatment may be needed, please consult TDS or our technical representatives. Please refer to Chapter 12 of the SDS for data on the metal content of our products and identification of the metal complex dyes/ inks. Metal complex dyes are restricted (particularly extractable chromium) in some brand/retailer RSLs. Please consult the specific RSL, and discuss with Huntsman representatives.
