2 L ART DU SOIN FOR THE FACE For years, diptyque created original personal and home fragrances as well as candles and surprising collections dear to the brand s avid followers and founders all captivated by precious scents. But gradually this enchanting world expanded, adding delightful new wonders to the offering. In 2009, the desire to explore fresh horizons emerged sparking the launch of L ART DU SOIN FOR THE BODY. Inspired by traditional Mediterranean rituals, this comprehensive product line includes six body care components (for cleansing, moisturizing, exfoliating and more), orchestrated like journeys to as many enchanting destinations. From Cordoba to Byzantium and Florence to Alexandria... the pure essence of Orange Blossom and Rose waters, Argan and Sweet Almond oils, honey or Olive Tree flowers ensure both exquisite pleasure and genuine benefits. So it was only a matter of time before the next branch blossomed on the diptyque family tree! This maker of fine fragrances since 1961 is truly an expert in plants, not only in terms of their olfactory virtues but also their therapeutic benefits, naturally beckoning its foray into the cosmetics field. In 2014 the brand therefore launched L ART DU SOIN FOR THE FACE (Chapter 1), based on several key elements spawned from a singular, very distinctively diptyque vision of tradition and modernity: --Exceptional quality raw materials, mostly in the form of floral waxes --Little known but remarkably effective floral waters (also known as hydrolates) --Fascinating, futuristic morphing textures Thus ushering in a fresh new beauty concept: Infused Cosmetics. After the essential steps of cleansing and moisturizing (Chapter 1), it s time for special treatments and targeted care. That s where Chapter 2 of the ritual begins, with three novelties to enrich L ART DU SOIN FOR THE FACE product line.

3 INFUSED COSMETICS diptyque created a way to combine ancient know-how with cutting-edge science by blending waxes that were inaccessible until today with oils that have probably been used since the beginning of time. The technique, undoubtedly used by our prehistoric ancestors, entails placing the naked flowers in various aqua simplex baths. Just as a tea leaf releases aromas more or less quickly depending on whether it is whole or crushed, fragmented or pulverized, and whether the water temperature is at 0 C or 100 C, brewing / slow maceration varies according to the same vagaries and the chosen vehicle. A week, a month, sometimes more... Extracting nature s amazing juices requires great patience. And although time is an ancestral luxury that is increasingly rare, given its years of experience and respect for the natural rhythms, diptyque understands that it is a crucial investment. A 2 nd chapter of the Infused Cosmetics story begins with oleates. Following the gentle hydrosols and waxes dedicated to the cleansing rituals, new elements oleates provide deep treatment, enabling the product range to meet all skin types needs in terms of nutrition, radiance and/or repair. So what s an oleate? A scientific term for the result of macerating a flower or a part of a flower in oil. Loyal to our brand s cornerstones, this technique enables us to preserve all the active ingredients of the fragrance world s most precious treasures: flowers! All their sensorial richness are carefully highlighted by ever more surprising, fun, futuristic galenics. Paraben, silicone and other mineral oils, aluminum salts and surfactants, however, all remain off limits. No traces, not even a nano-gram! 5 Infused Face Oil BOOSTS RADIANCE, REVITALIZES, SMOOTHES. Countless rose petals floating in a feathery oil. Gorgeous? Yes indeed, but it s not only beautiful, it s effective! For the petals continue to diffuse their moisturizing powers as they steep in the oil, further enhancing this remarkable potion, which includes: White iris oleate is an amazing radiance booster smoothing, silky, ultra-sensual. Sweet almond oil provides the skin with vital nutrients. Meadow grass oil, harvested in the Great Plains of the American Midwest, adds a distinct, satin pillow-like dimension. Pastel flower oil ensures a dry feel that allows for use at any time. The fragrance is absolutely exhilarating, like a bunch of fresh rose petals wrapped in the nourishing sweetness of bitter almonds and a powdery iris base.

When the velvety potion meets the warmth of the face, it transforms into a sorbet-like, ultra-soothing elixir, giving the impression that the face actually cools with the bliss of well-being. What s the secret? Prickly pear flower oleate is a replenishing antioxidant, drenched in vitamin E and omega 6. Orange blossom hydrosol nourishes and most importantly revitalizes the skin. It also refreshes skin of any age. Nasturtium extract reinforces and protects the skin s outer layer, caressing and replenishing it. Bluebonnet extract oxygenates the skin cells and stimulates renewal which enhances the skin s radiance. In keeping with the brand s renown, this cream smells truly divine. 9 GLOSSARY Infusion: An ancient method of perfumery that entails leaving the matter to rest in a warm, oily or aqueous liquid. This is how perfumes were made before Avicenna invented the technique of using steam to extract fragrances from various matters in the 11 th century. Maceration: The principle of prolonged immersion is the same as that of the infusion. Except that maceration is carried out lukewarm or cold. Distillation: By submitting fresh plants (bark, seeds, petals or leaves) to steam, the still separates the essential oils of hydrosols, also referred to as flower water. Extraction: A very contemporary method of expert chemistry, «supercritical CO2» extraction appeared in the late 1970s. It is carried out at low temperatures (37 ), without damaging the slightest molecule. It renders a concrete, which contains the soul of plants, fragrant molecules and waxes all together, which are then separated. It is with the absolute, or noblest part of the aroma, that perfumers make their honey, the very core of this art form.
