4 ABOUT GHEE BUTTER The oldest tradition of using Ghee comes from the area of what is today the Indian subcontinent. Ghee, also known as clarified butter, is used globally primarily in cooking, and by some customs as a personal care product. Ghee is different from your regular butter. Made through the process of purification, whereby regular butter is heated to a certain temperature. First it liquefies and eventually separates into a few layers, namely: water, milk solids and butter. Removing the water and milk solids yields 100% clarified butter. This process ensures that only the healthy butter remains for use. In fact, Ghee is even appropriate for use by people with lactose intolerance, since once purified, it no longer contains lactose. Ghee is known to help reducing blisters and appearance of scars, and therefore can in itself be suitable as an ointment, or as an interesting base for the cosmetic emulsion. It works well with other herbal ingredients, often times enhancing their nourishing qualities. Clarified butter is a lipid, which helps to nourish the cells with natural lauric and linoleic acids.
