3 ILSE SUN is the latest addition to the ILSE by ILSE JACOBSEN spa- and beauty product line from the lifestyle company ILSE JACOBSEN HORNBÆK, which is rooted in the universe and DNA of Ilse Jacobsen. Ilse is inspired by Hornbæk s stunning countryside, beach and ocean. Having lived by the beach all of her life, Ilse is very aware of the harmful effects of the sun and knows how important it is to protect yourself against sun damage. The main ingredient in the ILSE SUN line is Nordic coastal seaweed, which grows in the coastal waters of Scandinavia, and also in Hornbæk. I started reading up on seaweed and soon realised that this was a resource with great potential. Using the sea and its resources as inspiration is part of my lifestyle and closely connected to the basic DNA of my brand, Ilse Jacobsen explains. The sea is a life-giving resource with its own rich ecosystem, of which seaweed is an essential part. Until now seaweed from the very clean and cold Nordic waters has been a relatively untapped resource. Historically, seaweed has been known primarily for its unique nutritional properties. We must take care of our skin our entire life, and protect it from the harmful effects of nature, and what could be more natural than doing this with the help of nature itself? 13 SUN PROTECTION ADVICE Do not use sunscreen as your primary protection against the sun. Protect yourself with clothes and shade. Do not use sunscreen as an excuse to stay in the sun for a long time. Always apply sunscreen when the UV Index is anything over 3. Use a waterproof sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15. If in doubt, use at least SPF 30 every day, especially in warmer climates. The effect of sunscreen depends on the intensity of UV, your skintype, how much sunscreen you apply and which factor you use. Use generous amounts of sunscreen - 2 tablespoons for your whole body. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, after swimming, towel drying or sweating. Find shade, especially when the sun is at its strongest between 11 am and 3 pm.
