2 A SPECIFIC SKIN CARE PRODUCT FOR MATURE WOMEN? With age, the skin loses its cohesion and structure, it becomes disorganised and thinner, which leads to the development of irregularities, with more or less deep wrinkles. DHE.AGE and PHYTO HORMONES Conscious of the Scientific promise of DHEA, our Research departments worked to restore its positive effects on skin cells. For this, they worked to identify the natural sources for cosmetic use, which have the greatest influence on skin youth mechanisms. Several studies showed that wild Yam could produce a naturally similar action. Indeed, this plant contains a particular substance, Diosgenin, which acts like a skin boost, producing what we call in cosmetics phytohormones. 3 WHAT IS DHEA? [DHEA] plasma (µg/l) It is mainly the adrenal glands which produce DHEA (DeHydroEpiAndrosterone). DHEA: CONCENTRATION IN BLOOD ACCORDING TO AGE DHEA and skin ageing In the skin, DHEA plays a fundamental role: it controls and guarantees the action of regulator messengers so that they carry out their cell stimulation functions to the full. The more DHEA levels fall, the more disorganised the regulator messenger network becomes and they can no longer guarantee optimal cell function. Hormones: androgens, oestrogens and progesterone have many functions involving the different skin constituents, notably on collagen and elastin fibres. Indeed, a fall in DHEA level in the skin may promote the development of various dermatological pathologies. At skin level, DHEA: - Inhibits the production of collagenases. The collagen fibres are therefore protected, thus increasing the dermal support network. - Makes the skin less sensitive to contact allergic reactions. 4 VITAMIN A and RETINOL Vitamin A or retinoic acid Vitamin A or retinoic acid was first used to treat acne until it was noted that it also had effects on the texture of the skin, its aspect, thickness and elasticity. RETINOL Retinol is in fact vitamin A: indeed, it is the natural precursor of retinoic acid. It must be converted to retinoic acid in the body. It acts on both the dermis and the epidermis. AT EPIDERMAL LEVEL: - Retinoic acid is essential to epidermal keratinocyte differentiation; it binds to specific nuclear receptors (RAR, Retinoic Acid Receptor) and induces the expression of genes involved in epidermal differentiation. A vitamin A deficit is reflected by alterations in epidermal keratinisation. At dermal level: - Vitamin A interferes directly with fibroblast metabolism. Retinol reduces dermal atrophy by inhibiting collagenase synthesis, stimulating glycosaminoglycan synthesis and increasing the skin s elasticity. It is also an excellent antifree radical agent. Therefore, retinoic acid limits the installation of the four signs of skin ageing: dryness, loss of elasticity, skin thinning and wrinkles. It acts at skin level by: - Stimulating fibroblasts - Stimulating collagen synthesis - Stimulating angiogenesis: producing small vessels responsible for the healthy complexion effect - Regulation of melanine synthesis: limiting hyperpigmentation marks - Anti-inflammatory action. But although retinoic acid is well tolerated on thick, oily skin, it is less so on finer, drier mature skin. To attenuate the irritation problem, the research laboratories now propose a complex with similar clinical efficacy to that of Retinol, without its disadvantages. This efficacy is based on the action of a key protein, LOX (Lysyl Oxidase), which is essential for keratinocyte differentiation and triggering collagen function, thereby improving skin density to a similar level to that of young skin. Many tests have been performed, showing similar or greater efficacy than Retinol. 4

5 LOX-AGE, SKIN ARCHITECTURE IMPROVEMENT LOX AGE is a phyto-complex extracted from Cichorium Intybus (wild chicory) leaves, which stimulate LOX protein, thus promoting an improvement in epidermal stratification and cohesion through the synthesis of specific differentiation markers, with no action on cell proliferation, i.e. without impoverishing the skin s natural resources. LOX AGE also contributes to the functionalisation of collagen 1, thus improving the skin s density. CHROMOSOME 5 LOX PROTEIN AND LOX GENE - At skin level, Lysyl Oxidase (LOX) is an enzyme produced following stimulation of the LOX gene found on DNA in fibroblast and keratinocyte cell nuclei. - Acts at epidermal level, more specifically during keratinocyte differentiation to ensure good cell cohesion and thus the maintenance of epidermal homeostasis. - It is also involved in the production of collagen and elastin fibres, therefore ensuring dermal integrity. The epidermis is continually regenerated and this constant turnover is generated into the basal layer by epidermal stem cells which have a high proliferative potential, high self-renewal rate and the ability to generate daughter cells. Reticulation involves the creation of chemical bonds between collagen fibres. This facilitates their assembly and leads to the production of fibre network which provide tissue support and tone. This causes: - A slowing in keratinocyte differentiation and reduced production of the various differentiation markers. CLEANING Cleanse face and neck with 1 REGENERATING CLEANSING 2 MILK E312, then with cotton soaked in with REGENERATING CLEANSING TONER E314. SCRUB According to skin sensitivity, proceed to a scrub of face and neck with DERMA- GUM E73 or DERMA SCRUB E605 or GOMMAXX E37. Clean the skin with sponges soaked in REGENERATING CLEANSING TONER E SERUM Apply a full ampoule of ULTRA INTENSIVE REGENERATION SERUM E315 on the entire face and neck. Allow to penetrate without massaging. Prepare strips of gauze 1st strip: strip for forehead: distance between the left temple and right temple. 2nd strip: strip for nose and cheeks: length of the first strip + 8 cm.
