2 Introduction: The lips are a very important part of our face and are responsible for the articulation of speech and sound as well as the intake of food and drink. These soft movable areas of our face are comprised of just three to five layers of skin and have no sweat or sebaceous glands making this thin area very delicate with only saliva as it s source of natural moisture. Blood vessels appear through the skin of the lips and give a much redder colour to those with paler complexions compared to those with darker skin. The lips don't produce melanin, the pigment which gives the skin its colour and is produced by the body as a natural way of protecting itself from ultraviolet light, this means the lips are at a much higher risk of getting sunburned and can develop skin cancer like the rest of the body. When the lips are cared for and healthy they provide a sponge like action, when they are moisturised and hydrated they have a much plumper full appearance but allowed to become dry and dehydrated will result in the lips becoming shrunken, cracked and crinkled; the latter can happen at any time of the year but is more prominent in the winter months. Research has shown that women with fuller lips are perceived to be more enticing to males than those with thinner lips. This trend has resulted in the growing demand of lip plumping products in the consumer market and clients looking for lip enhancing treatments. The Perfect Pout! Lip Treatment is an easy to perform customisable treatment to offer to clients with concerns of dryness, dehydrated cracked lips or for those who wish for a softer plumped lip appearance. Indications for use: Dry flaky lips Dehydrated tight lips Lips in need of a smooth, full appearence Consultation: Carry out a full and thorough consultation using the Eve Taylor Consultation Card. This is vital to the effective treatment of your client s skin and will allow you to assess their lifestyle and current skin care habits which may be impacting on their skin condition. You will also have the opportunity to identify any skin care products that may be contributing to their skin dehydration which will allow you to give homecare recommendations and advice later. Contra-indications to exfoliation: In the event that your client is using Roaccutane/Isotretinoin, we would advise to omit the exfoliation element of this treatment as use of this prescribed medication can cause severe dryness, cracking and bleeding of the lips. pg. 1

3 Products needed: Soothing Eye Make-up Remover Ultra Soothing Cleanser Exfoliating Scrub Hyaluronic Acid Serum Time-line Response Serum Lip Contour Masque Rose Hydrolat / Peppermint Hydrolat Seal & Protect Moisturising Lip Balm Treatment time: 15 Minutes. Treatment protocol: 1. Cleanse lips at start of treatment with Soothing Eye Make-up Remover. 2. Mix a very small amount of Ultra Soothing Cleanser and Exfoliating Scrub and apply to lips. Use light circular motions to soften and smooth lips. Remove thoroughly and blot dry with a tissue. 3. Apply a thin layer of Hyaluronic Acid serum to the lips. 4. Apply a thin layer of Time-line Response Serum above the top lip and around the mouth and perform the Perfect Pout lip massage (below). 5. Mix half of the Lip Contour Masque sachet with 15ml of Peppermint Hydrolat (for those requiring fuller lips), or Rose Hydrolat (for those with very dry/dehydrated lips) into a paste consistency and apply generously to closed lip area. 6. Allow masque to set for for 5-7 minutes before peeling away and wiping any residue away with the edge of a sponge. 7. Finalise with a thin application of Seal & Protect Moisturising Lip Balm. Lip Massage Routine: 1. Using both index fingers and thumbs, press over and under the lips and slide over Orbicularis Oris in an outward movement towards the Buccinator. Repeat this movement x6 progressively increasing pressure each time. 2. Using cushioned finger tips of both index fingers, press under the centre of the bottom lip and hold for 5 seconds, repeat above the top lip. Using both index fingers, simultaneously press the corners of the mouth and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat x6. 3. Using index and middle fingers of both hands, press below the mouth and drain outwards and upwards, flicking upwards towards Buccinator x6. 4 Treatment course: If the client is experiencing dry, dehydrated flaking lips this treatment may be performed at weekly intervals and may be performed as a standalone treatment or incorporated into an Eve Taylor facial. Homecare products and retail: At the end of the first treatment complete the Eve Taylor Prescription Sheet to offer recommendations for products to use at home. The consistent use of homecare products is vital for your clients to see ongoing improvements to their lip area. To maintain the results of the Perfect Pout!
