The NIC Natinal Esthetics Practical Examinatin is the licensure examinatin fr Esthetics, which is develped by the Natinal-Interstate Cuncil f State Bards f Csmetlgy (NIC). This bulletin cntains IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding the NIC Natinal Esthetics Practical Examinatin cntent and administratin fr Esthetics cre services and additinal sectins. Fr each NIC Natinal Practical Examinatin, there are multiple parts t every Candidate Infrmatin Bulletin (CIB) stred as separate dcuments. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS D nt leave the examinatin area withut permissin. Permissin must be btained t leave the examinatin area fr any reasn, including restrm usage r at the cmpletin f the examinatin. Picture ID is required fr re-entry int the examinatin. Candidates are required t bring a supply kit fr their wn use. It is the candidate s respnsibility t make certain they have a sufficient quantity f supplies that have been prperly cleaned and disinfected and that implements are in prper wrking rder. The kit will be used during the examinatin as dry strage and is cnsidered part f the wrk area. The kit must be kept clsed (e.g., cmpletely zipped r lid tightly clsed) except when remving materials fr a particular service. Candidates may remve items, supplies, etc., frm the kit at any time, hwever nthing may be returned t the kit. All examinatins are administered in a testing envirnment. 2 2 Due t standardizatin f the NIC Natinal Examinatins. Prctrs and examiners are required t adhere t the fllwing standards: The verbal instructins will be read twice fr each sectin f the examinatin. With the exceptin f verbal instructins, the prctrs are nt allwed t cmmunicate with candidates. Examiners are nt allwed t speak with candidates. Candidates requesting infrmatin during the examinatin will be tld ne f the fllwing statements: D the best yu can with what yu have available. D as yu were taught. If a candidate experiences an emergency situatin, please ntify the prctr by raising yur hand. Candidates will be given time t set up the universal (als knwn as general) supplies they will use thrughut the examinatin. Each sectin f the examinatin has a maximum time allwance, with the exceptin f thse specified as untimed sectins. Once a candidates have cmpleted all tasks in the sectin, please step back r turn the hand tward the examiner (in the case f nail sectins) t indicate they have finished. In the event that all candidates cmplete a sectin befre the time has elapsed, the examiners will prceed t the next sectin f the examinatin. When the timer ges ff, all candidates must stp wrking and step back r turn the hand tward the examiner (in the case f nail services) IMMEDIATELY. During all phases f the examinatin, candidates must fllw all apprpriate public prtectin and infectin cntrl prcedures and maintain a safe wrk area. The fllwing prvides examples f materials and actins that are prhibited during the examinatin administratin: Pssessin f cellular phnes, pagers, tablets, cmputers, prjectrs, cameras, r any ther electrnic r recrding devices, printed materials, r handwritten ntes. Purses, bags, cats, hats, and any ther persnal items nt directly needed t cmplete the examinatin, are nt allwed. Exhibiting disruptive behavir. Cmmunicating t ther candidates r any examiner. The abve referenced items r actins are nt an exhaustive list. Failure t cmply with any f these cnditins r exhibiting ANY behavir that suggests an effrt t cheat will result in the immediate dismissal frm the examinatin and the candidate s actins reprted t the prper authrities. All supplies must be labeled in English. When an riginal manufacturer's label is required, there can be NO handwritten r any ther type f labeling. Original manufacturers labels must have English and may als include ther languages. All nn-manufacturers created labels must be nly in English. Original manufacturer s labels are required fr all disinfectants and hand sanitizers. An EPA-registered, hspital-grade disinfectant that demnstrates bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal prperties must be used. Please refer t the Suggested Examinatin Supplies sectin t see any further state specific requirements fr supplies and prducts. Simulated prducts are nt allwed fr disinfectants and hand sanitizers. 2

NIC MODEL OR MANNEQUIN REQUIREMENTS Please refer t yur state specific guidelines fr mdel and mannequin requirements. If yur state requires that yu use a mannequin head(s) r hand(s): Candidates wh are required t use a mannequin head(s), it is the candidate s respnsibility t cme prepared fr the examinatin. Mannequin heads that are premarked r presectined are nt allwed fr any part f the practical examinatin. Candidates wh are required t use a mannequin hand(s). It is the candidate s respnsibility t cme prepared fr the examinatin. Mannequin hands must be an entire hand and cannt have remvable digits. Mannequin heads and hands must be apprved by the examinatin state/vendr prir t admittance int examinatin. SPECIAL ATTENTION! A new client is intrduced and must be prepared fr during the curse f the examinatin (see Esthetics Practical Examinatin Cntent Dmains Sectins). The fllwing sectins are new t the Esthetics Practical Examinatin: Bld Expsure Prcedure (Cntent Dmain Sectin 9) Candidates are expected t brace any time they are wrking arund the eye and muth areas. 5 5 CONTENT DOMAINS 1. WORK AREA AND CLIENT PREPARATION, AND SET UP OF SUPPLIES (15 minutes) Yu will prepare yur wrk area fr yur client. Yu will set up the universal supplies yu will use thrughut the examinatin. (Review yur state examinatin guidelines) Yu will prepare yur client fr services. Yu will have 15 minutes t cmplete this sectin. Yu will be infrmed when yu have 8 minutes remaining.
