11 Customized Gift Options Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions 1. What do you mean by 'harmful chemical' free? a. We use Paraben-free preservatives that are used in baby care formulations and are thus very gentle on the skin. Most commercial products use Paraben based preservatives. A number of researchers and skin care experts have discovered that this preservative can be toxic. It can increase the tendency of developing estrogen - dependent diseases like breast tumors, decrease the sperm cell count among males, promote skin allergic reactions like contact dermatitis and rosacea, spur the development of skin cancer and may cause problems to foetal development for pregnant women. b. All our products are synthetic surfactant (SLS, Cocobetaine) free. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (or Sodium Laureth Sulphate) is an ingredient employed in most Soaps, Body Washes and Shampoos for 3 reasons - it's cheap, it makes the mixture foam well and thickens it appreciably. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) may have several side effects - improper eye development in children, cataract, nitrate absorption (nitrates are known carcinogenic agents), penetration into systemic tissues (brain, heart, liver), skin irritation and skin dryness. 2. My Soap / Body Wash does not lather like commercial soap? It is the biggest misconception that lather assists in the cleansing process. Most commercial soaps contain synthetic surfactants like SLS, side effects of which are mentioned above.

12 3. My lotion foams into a white residue which lasts for two minutes after application? This residue is completely normal and infact is a testimony of our 'pureness'. This residue lasts for approximately 1-2 minutes after application. This can easily be avoided by gently massaging Puro Body Lotions well into the skin. Puro products do not contain synthetic silicones (Dimethicone) used in most commercial moisturizers that help avoid foamy residues. Silicone emollients are occlusive - that is they coat the skin, trapping anything beneath it, and do not allow the skin to breathe. Some synthetic emollients are known tumour promoters and accumulate in the liver and lymph nodes. They are also nonbiodegradable, causing negative environmental effects.
