DETAILS OF THE VET STANDARD 1. Vocational education level 3 rd. 2. State code S Qualification awarded hairdresser. 4. Basic education secondary. II. CONTENT OF THE VET STANDARD 5. Brief description of occupational activity: 5.1. The VET Standard for a hairdresser (hereinafter referred to as the Standard ) has been developed taking into account changes on the labour market, findings of the qualification study carried out by the Standards Development Working Group and based on experience in other countries A person having completed the established Hairdresser vocational education and training programme acquires competencies for working in the following main activity areas: organisation of a hairdresser s work; choosing of equipment, working tools, use and care; providing hairdresser services A hairdresser uses different tools, electric appliances, special beauty saloon and hair saloon equipment; assesses the state of one s hair; performs different hair care, cutting, curling, straightening, dyeing and fashion modelling services; chooses cosmetic products for the procedures and for individual use; consults customers on hair care issues; communicates ad cooperates with the colleagues and customers; uses information technologies; applies the knowledge of economics and business, labour law, hygiene, safety at work, professional ethics, customer service psychology at work; is interested and applies and promotes new technologies and techniques in practical work. A hairdresser works in beauty saloons individually and in a team and looks after the working place A hairdresser is characterised by the following personal qualities: good will, personal responsibility, honesty, creativity, accurateness, stamina. 6. The objective if a hairdresser to provide hair care services. 7. A hairdresser s activity areas and competencies are listed in Appendix 1 of the Standard. 8. The scope of a hairdresser s competencies, training objectives and competency assessment are provided in Appendix 2 of the Standard. 9. Successful work as a hairdresser requires the following general capabilities: 9.1. communication skills; 9.2. independent work; 9.3. tolerance; 9.4. partnership; 9.5. correctness; 9.6. attention to the client; 9.7. desire for personal development. 10. Final qualification assessment:

Qualification of a hairdresser is awarded to a pupil who has completed the whole training programme, acquired competencies defined in the Standard and has been given a positive final qualification evaluation In accordance with the competency assessment criteria listed in the Standard, the following is tested and evaluated: during the training process - all competencies defined in the Standard; during the final qualification assessment - selected competencies Organisation and performance of the final qualification assessment and issuance of documents is regulated by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania.
