3 History of Melaleuca Oil Indigenous Australians of the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales first used crushed tea tree leaves to create healing compresses for a variety of wounds and skin problems The commercial TTO industry was born after the antimicrobial properties of the oil were first reported by Penfold in the 1920s Production declined after World War II as demand for the oil fell, presumably due to the development of effective antibiotics Interest in the oil was rekindled in the 1970s as part of the general resurgence of interest in natural products 1970s and 80s - commercial plantations were established Researched conducted widely over last 20 years Page 3
4 mundicare Melaleuca Oil 100% pure - we do not use blended oil Sourced from a single origin plantation in Northern NSW utilising sustainable practices in production and processing One harvest annually Consistent climate conducive to high grade oil Australian Tea Tree Industry Association (ATTIA) members - ensure the strictest quality controls are followed that begins on the farm and continues throughout the processing and supply chain to the end user Page 4
5 mundicare Melaleuca Oil mundicare uses tighter specifications for the quantities of active components in Melaleuca Oil, compared to ISO and AU Standards The antimicrobial active in mundicare melaleuca oil, terpinene-4-ol, is at least 45% greater than that of ISO and AU standards 1-2 mundicare melaleuca oil contains a low para-cymene content - a potential irritating agent that can be found in essential oils, and also an indicator of poor quality oil 1-2 Page 5
