1 Installation Requirements Installation of the Collins pedicure unit is straightforward and comparable to installation of a residential hot tub or whirlpool. The utility requirements are as follow: 1 ½ drain stub out. Depending on the height of the stub out, an evacuation pump (obtained from local plumbing supply) may be required. Refer to local plumbing codes. ¼ hot and cold water supply lines. 10 amp 110 volt electrical service. GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) breaker may be required. Refer to local electrical codes. Install pedicure unit far enough away from the wall to provide reasonable access to the plumbing and pump service doors. Pedicure unit may be anchored to the floor with construction adhesive /4 Plumbing Centers

2 II. Operating Instructions On / Off Switch Turns electrical power to the pump motor on or off. Push once to start, push again to stop. Drain Handle Opens or closes the drain. Pull up to close the drain, push down to open the drain. Faucet Provides water to fill the pedicure unit. Turn handles counter clockwise to start water flow turn counter clockwise to stop water flow. The proportion of hot and cold water controls the temperature. Jet Control Adjusts the introduction of air into the circulated water. Turn knob clockwise to decrease air flow and increase water flow. Turn knob counter clockwise to increase air flow and decrease water flow. Jet Control or Drain Handle Jet Control or Drain Handle Faucet or Metal Caps Faucet or Metal Caps On / Off Switch

3 bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity which must be used according to the manufacturer's instructions, then Flush the system with low sudsing soap and warm water for 10 minutes then rinse and drain. Make a record of the date and time of this cleaning and disinfecting. Every Other Week: After following the outlined required cleaning procedures for the end of each day, fill the footspa tub (5 gallons) with water and 4 teaspoons of 5% bleach solution (a dose of 50 parts per million ppm: 0.64 oz. Circulate the solution through the footspa system for 5 to 10 minutes. Let the solution sit overnight (at least 6-10 hours). The following morning (before the first customer) drain and flush the system. Make a record of the date and time of this cleaning and disinfecting. In addition to the procedures outlined above, the following procedures are included in the Bureau's health and safety rules and must be followed to ensure proper disinfection: Non-electrical instruments and equipment must be washed with soap or detergent, rinsed with clean water, dried with a clean cloth and then totally immersed in an EPA-registered disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal activity used according to manufacturer's instructions. [16 CCR Section 979 (a)] All foreign matter must be removed from electrical instruments. Then, an EPA-registered disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal activity must be used on the electrical instruments according to manufacturer's instructions. [16 CCR Section 980] Any instrument or supply that comes into direct contact with a patron and cannot be disinfected shall be disposed of in a waste receptacle immediately after use. [16 CCR Section 981 (a)] Disinfectant solutions must be in a properly labeled container and remain covered at all times. Disinfectant solutions must be changed at least once a week or whenever visibly cloudy or dirty. [16 CCR Section 979 (b)] All disinfected items must be stored in a clean, covered place that is properly labeled to identify the items as clean. [16 CCR Section 979 (d)] All instruments/equipment that have been used on a patron or soiled in any manner shall be placed in a properly labeled receptacle. [16 CCR Section 979 (c)] No establishment shall knowingly permit a person afflicted with a transmittable infection or parasitic infestation to serve patrons or train in the establishment. 4 III. Cleaning Instructions Artesian Pedicure System The primary responsibility of the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology (Bureau) is to protect consumers from harm. The Bureau found that the demand for pedicure services is popular and fast growing. With summer approaching, there will be an even greater demand by consumers for this service. Consequently, the Bureau would like to remind you it is critical you follow proper health and safety procedures to protect the well being of your clients. The Bureau cautions you not to sacrifice a clean and safe environment for speed and profit. If you neglect to follow proper health and safety procedures, your clients can contract serious infections for which you will be held accountable. With the increased use of whirlpool footspas to provide pedicure services, it is necessary that all licensees follow the health and safety laws, and rules and regulations adopted by the Bureau. In addition, it is equally important that you follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions for all instruments and equipment. Please take the time to read the footspa manufacturer's cleaning instructions carefully and ask your manufacturer and/or distributor to show you how to keep them clean. Improperly sanitized instruments/equipment may harbor bacteria that may spread disease or infection to clients and/or operators who come in contact with such equipment. The Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology recently adopted regulations requiring that salons using whirlpool pedicure footspas use the following disinfection procedures to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the equipment, and to prevent bacterial infection: Between Each Customer: Drain all water and remove all debris from the footspa. Clean the surfaces and walls of the footspas with soap or detergent and rinse with clean, clear water. Disinfect with an EPA-registered disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity used according to manufacturer's instructions. Wipe dry with a clean towel. At the End of Each Day: Remove the screen. All debris trapped behind the screen of each footspa shall be removed, and the screen and the inlet shall be washed with soap or detergent and water. Before replacing the screen, perform 1 of the following 2 procedures: 1. Wash the screen with a chlorine bleach solution of 1 teaspoon of 5% chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of water, or 2. Totally immerse the screen in an EPA-registered disinfectant with demonstrated

5 No establishment shall knowingly require or permit a licensee or student to work upon a person with a transmittable infection or parasitic infestation. [16 CCR Section 984 (b)] No person working or training in an establishment or school shall massage any person upon a surface of the skin or scalp where such skin is inflamed, broken (e.g., abraded, cut) or where a skin infection or eruption is present. [16 CCR Section 984 (e)] Every licensee performing services shall wash his or her hands with soap and water immediately before serving each patron. [16 CCR Section 983 (b)] The Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology would like to remind its licensees, once again, that the health and safety laws, rules and regulations are for the protection of the consuming public as well as for the licensee. These laws, rules and regulations are meant to prevent the spread of disease, infection or other communicable conditions. Establishment owners and licensees are responsible for ensuring that the health and safety laws, rules and regulations are carefully followed. Screen Removal The screen is the elevated stainless steel plate in the bottom of the pedicure unit. At times (such as cleaning), the screen must be removed. To remove the screen, lift the plate up and maneuver it up and out past the water jet housings. The water jet housings may be unscrewed and removed to provide extra clearance.

7 Attach adjacent cabinets, end panels, and support legs by fastening through the pre-drilled holes with the provided connector bolts. These bolts will thread into a factory installed threaded fastener, t-nut or provided matching connector nut depending upon the application and visibility of the fasteners. Some applications may require drilling holes on-site and the use of 1 ¼ wood screws and decorative washers. This item needs to be fastened to the floor to prevent tipping. Attach 2x4 blocking to the floor with fasteners appropriate to the floor type. Set the toe kick base over the floor blocking. Fasten through the toe kick base or through the cabinet bottom into the floor blocking. Counter top joints and seams in proximity of sinks, shampoo bowls, or pedicure basins are to be sealed on-site with clear silicone caulk to prevent water intrusion and damage. All plumbing work is to be performed by a licensed plumbing contractor and to be performed in accordance with all applicable state and local codes.
