2 General Contestants will be required to register themselves and their models at the venue, one day in advance on the 7th of January. All contestants must report one hour prior to the start of their competition for the checking of models hands and the competition supplies. Competitions will begin at 9.30am and end with the Awards Ceremony at 6pm. All contestants and models are expected to remain at the venue till the Awards Ceremony Once a contestant has registered they cannot change categories. No refunds of competition and entry fees are given. Competition and entrance fees are nontransferable. An individual cannot compete in more than 2 competitions. Every contestant is required to be the only person working on the nails in any category, she/ he is registered. Except in the case of Salon Team Challenge. Contestants must carry ALL necessary products and supplies, including lamps. Products must be in labeled containers. All files and buffers must be unused; electric files and buffing products may be used. No nail molds may be used. Unless specified all nail work must be done at the site during the competition itself. All photos/video taken by NAILATHON personnel are the sole property of the organizer, to be used in whatever fashion deemed appropriate by the organizer. All forms of photography and videography is strictly prohibited and can lead to deduction of points for contestants. NAILATHON takes no responsibility for the contestants and/or model s belongings. No consideration will be given for lack of tools or effects in the competition.

3 Floor The pink and white shades to be used for the Salon Fast & Perfect and Salon Team Challenge contests should be devoid of any glitter or sparkle or sheen. The contestants will have 10 minutes to set up their station prior to the start of the contest Once the competition begins, Contestants or their models may NOT leave the competition area. Failure to comply will result in disqualification When a competition ends, Contestants must immediately stop working, and move away from their workstations. Contestants are NOT allowed to touch their models again until they have been judged. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. Any prohibited products or supplies found at a contestant s workstation will be confiscated, and the contestant may be disqualified. Products will be returned at conclusion of Awards Ceremony, and then only by request. Mobile phones cannot be used during the competition except as silent timers. A ringing or vibrating or answered mobile phone will lead to disqualification or deduction of points for the contestant. Incomplete nails will be judged with an automatic point deduction from the contestant s final score. Any draws or ties in scores are investigated and a winner awarded by the judges. Judges will observe and make note of working practices, cleanliness and organization of the contestants The underside of both hands must look the same.

4 Model Models must not wear any garments which has sleeves below the elbow. Models cannot wear any jewelry below the elbow except a wedding ring. In the case of Bridal Nails only bangles are allowed. No rings or other decoration should be on the model s hands. Henna or similar products are strictly prohibited. Models will be required to stay in one position for a long period of time during the competition and judging process. Please inform the registration desk or any NAILATHON professional if you or your model has any medical condition that requires special attention before the start of the competition. Models must remain at the venue till the Awards Ceremony to display the winning nails. In the case of Bridal and Fantasy Nails the model must also remain in costume.

6 French Jazz Contestants must re-invent the traditional French manicure using nail art techniques and have only 2 visible colours. The work must be done on a model s natural nails and no external embellishments are allowed. The design must be based on a specific concept chosen by the contestant. The contestant must be able to present the concept to the judges. Duration 60 minutes To be done Both hands This competition is done on natural nails only. Contestant can use only two visible colours to complete the nail art. Model s natural nails must be longer than half of the nail bed from tip to free edge The nail art must resemble a French manicure but yet be different and creative Contestants cannot use more than two visible colours to make the art. If a third colour is seen on the nail, the contestant will be disqualified on the spot. Clear base coat and top coat can be used. Designs plagiarised from the internet or from other competitions will disqualified. Extensions of any kind are not allowed. The model must come with prepared hands with only the nails left to be manicured. Water and soap may be used in finishing. Products like cream, oils and lotions may be used No consideration will be given for any pre-existing damage to a model s natural nails, cuticles, or hands.

7 Salon Fast & Perfect The contestants must apply gel/acrylic extensions on the model s nails. The nail tips must be half the size of the nail bed when finished. The nails must then be finished with a permanent pink/white French. The contestant which finishes the fastest with the most flawless work will be declared the winner Duration 45 minutes To be done One hands Extensions must be of gel or acrylic only Extensions must be in 2:1 ratio from nail bed to nail tip Use only clear or natural tips Use only clear adhesives to attach tips to the nail. Competitors must finish the nail with a permanent French manicure with pink/white colours. Enhancement products containing glitter and/or any other colour are NOT allowed. No coloured or clear products of any type may be applied to tips prior to attaching them to the natural nail. Water and soap may be used in finishing. No cleaning whatsoever should take place after the competition is over. Pre-existing damage to the model s nails or hands will not be considered Products like cream, oils and lotions may be used but excessive oil will lead to point deduction

8 Fantasy en Vogue Theme Wicked Witches Contestants will have to design nail art using extensions and nail embellishments on the given theme. Embellishments, piercings and other decorations are allowed. Contestants must come prepped with the nail extensions already attached to the model s nails. Contestants can also come with pre-made 3D nail attachments as long as they are made by the contestant themselves. No other pre-preparation should be done to the nails. Duration 90 minutes To be done Two hands Contestants must come prepped with the nail extensions already attached to the model s nails. No other preparation beyond that allowed on the model s nails. The pre-made 3D attachments must be made by the contestant themselves. Judges may ask for a real time demonstration from the contestants. Three dimensional embellishments, feathers, decals, gems, accessories, ornaments or any form of fantasy are allowed. Nail piercings with hanging ornaments are also allowed. Contestants will be required to bring their own drills with an extension cord if need be. Competitors may not use any copyrighted art, designs or logos. Contestants must carry present their concept explaining their interpretation of the theme for the nail art. Failure to do so will lead to a deduction in the points. Model The model must be in costume according to the theme at the beginning of the competition and be prepared for judging at the start of the competition. Models must be able to walk in costume without assistance. Please make sure that your costume or look does not overpower the nail art. Only the model and competitor are allowed on the competition floor. The costuming, make-up and hair must be assembled before the competition. Finishing Water and soap may be used in finishing. No cleaning whatsoever should take place after the competition is over. Pre-existing damage to the model s nails or hands will not be considered Products like cream, oils and lotions may be used but excessive oil will lead to point deduction

9 Bridal Chic Theme Pinks & Peaches Contestants must create nail art on the model s natural nails for an Indian bride on her wedding day. The nail art and costume must follow the given colour theme. Embellishments and other decorations are allowed. The model must be dressed in full bridal costume Duration 60 minutes To be done Two hands To be done on the models natural nails without any added extensions or tips Naturals nails must be approximately 1cm long from the free edge All nail art must be made from professional nail products Three dimensional embellishments, feathers, decals, gems, accessories, ornaments or any form of fantasy are allowed. Competitors may not use any copyrighted art, designs or logos. Henna or similar products are strictly prohibited. Model Models must be dressed in bridal costume as benefitting a modern Indian bride on her wedding day and be prepared for judging at the start of the competition. Model s costume should not extend beyond the wrist. Bangles, rings and other hand decorations are not allowed. Models must be able to walk in costume without assistance. Only the model and contestant are allowed on the competition floor. The costuming, make-up and hair must be assembled before the competition. Finishing Water and soap may be used in finishing. No cleaning whatsoever should take place after the competition is over. Pre-existing damage to the model s nails or hands will not be considered Products like cream, oils and lotions may be used but excessive oil will lead to point deduction

10 Salon Team Challenge In this category a team of 3 contestants create a set of 1:1 extensions on one of the model s hands. The contestants will work in turns to complete one set of nails. The nail tips must be as long as the length of the model s nail bed. The contestants will not be allowed to speak to one another when they switch turns. The finished nails must be finished with a permanent pink/white French. Duration 60 minutes To be done One hands Extensions must be 1:1 ratio from nail bed to tip. A Salon Team will consist of 3 members and must have a unique name and costume The 3 team members will have 20 minutes each to finish their portion of the work on the nails before they step away. Exceeding the time limit may lead to disqualification or point deduction. Competitors must finish the hand of the model in a permanent French manicure with pink/white colours. Team members are not allowed to consult one another at any point during the competition Use only clear or natural tips Use only clear adhesives to attach tips to the nail. No coloured or clear products of any type may be applied to tips prior to attaching them to the natural nail. Finishing Water and soap may be used in finishing. No cleaning whatsoever should take place after the competition is over. Any contestant seen cleaning the nails/hands after the time period will be immediately disqualified. Products like cream, oils and lotions may be used but use of excessive oil may lead to point deductions. Team Support and Cheer Teams must be in a team costume which clearly identifies the team and team member. Teams are allowed to bring supporters and banners to encourage them throughout the competition. However misconduct will lead to deduction of points from the team participating. The best supporters and best team costume will win additional prizes that are not connected to the Salon Team Challenge results

11 Classique Flat Art Theme Cartoons Contestants will have to create a fantastic piece of art spread across 10 nail tips using only flat art painting techniques. This is a submission based competition, only entries that have been pre-submitted at the given date will be displayed. Contestants cannot make changes or improvements to the nail-art on the day of the competition. Last minute entries are not allowed. Entry will consist of 10 nail tips, hand-painted with the given theme. Design can use all 10 tips as a single canvas as well. The tips cannot be longer than 2 inches and wider than ¾ of an inch. The tips must be graduated in size according to the individual nails. Finished tips must be wearable. Original tip colour does NOT matter. All work must be done by hand painting only. Absolutely no airbrushing is allowed. Only paint and nail polish may be used. Surfaces of the tips must be completely flat without any raised surfaces Top coat or UV gel sealant MUST be used but must NOT contain any glitter. Plagiarised designs from other competitions or from the internet will be disqualified instantly and the artwork will not display at NAILATHON. Competitors must submit a written statement in two parts: one telling the story of your interpretation of the theme. Failure to provide this information will result in a point deduction in overall score. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME OR SALON NAME, and one detailing the products and processes used to create the art (DO NOT NAME SPECIFIC BRANDS OR MANUFACTURERS) The entries must be sent in a proper display box with a clear lid. The nails must be securely attached to a plain black (no texture or colour or pattern) background in the box. They should not be secured to each other and should only be secured to the background. There must be a clear distance of 2 inches minimum between the nails and the edge of the box on all sides. The entries must be mailed or couriered to StyleSpeak magazine by 15th January. Do not mail the entries after this date. Entries can also be directly dropped off at the office in person by the contestant or their representative. 12 Luxe Soak-Off The gel mania is taking over the country and its time to see how well the nail techs know their gel basics. Here contestants will perform a soak-off gel manicure on the model and create a pink/white permanent French on one hand and have a red creamy polish on the other hand. Duration 30 minutes To be done Two hands Contestants must complete a Soak-Off gel manicure in 30minutes. No enhancements except Soak-Off Gel products can be used. Model s nails should be at least 1cm long after the free edge Model s nails should be prepared for soak-off gel polish application before the competition. Cleansing products and moisturizing products are not allowed. Contestants will have to do a French-style pink and white soak-off gel polish combination on one hand and a red cream polish on the other on the model s natural nails. No artwork is allowed. No glitter allowed Contestants must follow all steps of the Soak-Off Gel manicure or risk disqualification

13 Stiletto Amour Contestants will be demonstrating their finesse with gel extensions in this category. They will be making two inch long gel extensions on one hand of the model in the shape of a sharp stiletto. These extensions must be finished with a permanent pink/ white French. Duration 90 minutes To be done One hands Contestants will have to make a set of sculptured stiletto nails on one hand using flat paper or metal forms only. Tips and adhesive are NOT allowed. Contestants will have 75mins to make the sculptured nail with a permanent pink/white French Stiletto nails must be a minimum of 2 inches long. This measurement is from the lowest point of the cuticle to the end of the free edge. Contestants must use Gel for gel extensions or light cured products only. Products containing glitter are not allowed. Cover pink is allowed. No embellishments allowed. Model s nails must be ready for product application before the start of the competition. No consideration will be given for any pre-existing damage to a model s natural nails, cuticles, or hands. All smile lines must be done with a brush by hand. No help can be taken from other tools No plastic type moulds of any kind may be used to form the sculptured nail. Free edge must be sculpted with white sculpting products only. All files and buffers must be clean and unused; electric files and buffing products may not be used. Only water may be used for cleaning, all other cleansing or moisturizing products are not allowed. The nail enhancements must be finished to a high shine and completely free from any additional products.
