3 WELCOME MESSAGE Dear Colleagues, 10 years, and you are still participating! thank you! We started small, very small. I remember well these white nights, wondering during the first months of 2009 if I should call sponsors first to have some money to fly the speakers over or if I d better invite the speakers to have something to offer to potential sponsors... not that easy... One morning, I walk up and ed both speakers and sponsors the same day and it happened, they all agreed! and the story started. During the first two years, speakers were invited but many of them did not know where Montreux was. Today things have changed dramatically, you can hear them, in other congresses, whisper in the last row of conference rooms: - Have you been invited to speak in Montreux already? (whisper) - No unfortunately not...(sad face...) - Well, I have! (proud, chin up...) The Swiss Pain Congress became true thanks to Catherine Perrin who was always on my side since the first meeting and then continued to run the organization when Christophe Perruchoud joined us with the SNS in More than 100 speakers from Europe, USA, Asia and Australia shared their knowledge and experiences, bridged basic sciences and clinical practice to help participants improve the daily living of patients. This congress lives thanks to them, thanks to our sponsors and thanks to you. It could be much bigger, but we like it like this, friendly and open minded. Enjoy! 5 INFORMATION Congress date The meeting will start on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 09:00 AM, and will finish on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 15:00 PM. Congress venue and location The Swiss Pain Congress will be held at the Grand-Hotel Suisse Majestic, Montreux: Grand-Hotel Suisse Majestic 45, avenue des Alpes CH 1820 Montreux T F info@suisse-majestic.ch This hotel is located in front of the train station and 20 meters from the lake. How to get there: by car: highway, exit at Montreux (from north-ouest) and at Villeneuve (from south-east) by train: Geneva to Lausanne/Montreux; Zurich to Bern/Lausanne, change in Lausanne to Montreux. Congress organizer CP Consulting has been selected as the official Congress organizer to process registrations, exhibition and sponsorship. Name badges must be worn visibly at all times during the congress and in the exhibition area. Certificate of attendance A certificate of attendance will be distributed at the congress from Friday afternoon onwards. This certificate will also facilitate to claim CME credits in your country. Continuing medical education (CME) credits The Swiss Pain Congress has CME approval for the official scientific programme. The number of credits will be confirmed on the certificate of attendance.

6 About Montreux Montreux is located between lake and mountains, called the Swiss Riviera. Montreux enjoys a particularly mild an pleasant climate thanks to its privileged location on the shores of Lake Geneva and at the foot of the Alps. There are always something happening on the Swiss Riviera, whether it be the international events punctuating the year: the Jazz Festival in July, the Septembre Musical in September, the Festival du Rire and the Christmas Market in winter. The fascinating landscape of the Swiss Riviera makes your stay unforgettable. The beautiful terraced vineards of Lavaux, diving into the crystal blue waters of Lake Geneva, offering a breathtaking view which leaves nobody untouched, are part of the UNESCO world heritage. Montreux is an ideal place for meetings and starting point for excursions in Western Switzerland. How to get to Montreux Located in the centre of Europe, Montreux is easily accessible by air (Geneva/Zurich), car or train from all major European cities. Montreux is only 50 minutes away from the international airport of Geneva, 2 hours from the international airport of Zurich. These airports have its own trains station linked to (Berne), Lausanne, Montreux. Letter of invitation for visa purposes A letter of invitation can be requested once the applicable fees have been paid. Letters of invitation do not imply a commitment from the congress to provide financial support. 7 Visa The entry formalities for Switzerland vary according to the country of origin. All visitors entering Switzerland must possess a valid passport (for EU-citizens, a valid Identity card).
