1 November 2013 Omahaartistsinc.com President s Message: Katrina Methot-Swanson Hello Omaha Artists, We had a great evening meeting on October 24 th. We had over 40 people attend and many new members. Susan Stevens, our Vice-President and webmaster, did the program for the event. She did a presentation on photographing artwork with a focus on doing it yourself at home with some simple supplies. She also printed a packet detailing several techniques for preventing glare on glass and artwork. Our November 20th meeting will be at the Lutheran Church of the Master, 2617 South 114 th Street. We will be collecting donations for Art Reach and have our Pot Luck and work on greeting cards. Thank you, Katrina Methot-Swanson November Luncheon/Meeting and Fun Shop will be combined. Come join the fun making cards for use by Omaha Artists Inc. This will be a pot luck luncheon. Please bring a dish to share. The November Fun Shop will be on Wednesday November the 20th at 9:00 am Meeting at the Master s Lutheran Church on 114th and Center Road. This Fun Shop we will be making cards for use by the club, welcome, get well, thank you, etc. The cards will be provided, so bring your acrylics, watercolors, colored pencils, markers, brushes, etc. to design your cards. Donations will be received at the Fun Shop November 20th. These supplies will be given to the Lied Transplant Center s Life Care Center for patients awaiting transplants. Art Bridge also receives some of these supplies for classes. If you are unable to attend or shop, monetary donations help fill in areas that we need or are short on. Examples would be 8 X 10, or 4 x14, or 9 x 9, etc. can be framed as you like, but the created image must be the small image. Winter "Small Image" Art Show Registration: Monday, January 27, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Dates of show: January 28 - February 22, 2014 Reception: Sunday, February 2, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Take Down: Monday, February 24, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Spring Show - will be held at Lauritzen Gardens. Registration is on May 2 from 11a.m. - 1 p.m., reception on Sunday, May 4 from 2-4 p.m., take down on June 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. As you might guess, all art must have plant life in it -so landscapes, flowers, still life with flowers,- just have some plants play a major part in this piece of art. Art can be any size, and Lauritzen Gardens will charge a 25% fee for any art sold. Extra Opportunity Art Show - will be next July at Hospice House. This will be just for fun, no awards or judging, but your art can be for sale. The art must be framed to no larger than 11 x 14 as the outer size. And the art must be colorful. More on this later
