1 The College of New Rochelle Division of Graduate Professional & Fine Arts 29 Castle Place, New Rochelle, NY November 14, 2018 Dear Artists: You are invited to respond to this Call for Entries for a Juried Art Exhibit sponsored by The College of New Rochelle, Graduate School, Division of Professional & Fine Arts. The exhibit theme is Personal Best. Artists often have one or more artworks they consider to be their best works. These are not always the same as works that have been cited as the best by critics and the public. No matter. What you consider the best from your perspective is what we would like to see in this exhibit. This is a Call for Entries. Artists are invited to submit up to three (3) entries of original artwork that relate to the theme. All media are eligible for the exhibit with the exceptions of video, wearable clothing, or jewelry, due to gallery restrictions. Certificates of Recognition will be given for Best in Show (1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place). Certificates of Attendance will be prepared for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT). 2 Prospectus Personal Best A Juried Exhibit January 24 March 2, 2019 The College of New Rochelle ~ Graduate School Mooney Center Gallery 29 Castle Place, New Rochelle, NY Event/Activities Due Dates Directions Entry Deadline Monday, December 10, 2018 Complete the attached entry form. Submit up to three (3) works of art via /attachment. Include the completed Entry Form with your submissions. Save your images in JPEG format with as little compression as possible. Do not exceed 72 dpi. File size should be less than 1 MB and no more than 10 in any viewing dimension. Do not submit PowerPoint or DVDs. Notification of Jury Decisions Postcard Announcements Tuesday, December 18, 2018 Approximately Friday, December 21, 2018 (or early January 2019) By postal mail, send a check for $35, made out to The College of New Rochelle to Patricia St John, Graduate School, College of New Rochelle, 29 Castle Place, New Rochelle, NY All media are acceptable, excluding video/film and wearable clothing or jewelry. Tuesday, January 15 through Sunday, January 20, Mooney Center Gallery Contact Patricia St John Due: Thursday, January 17, 2019 Electronic announcements will also be ed to you. Please allow sufficient time for your artworks to be prepared for exhibition. All work must be delivered ready for installation or hanging (framed, wired, Plexiglas, glass). Remember to attach the completed Entry Label to the back or base of each work of art. The artist must be present to install work that is complicated or difficult to hang or install. The exhibit will be installed on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 22, Deliver accepted artworks to Mooney Center Gallery, the first building on your right on Castle Place (entrance to the campus). 2. Park in driveway in front of building and enter front doors. The Gallery is immediately to your left. If the gates are closed, call Security to open ( ). 3. Unpack artwork and take all packing materials with you. 4. Sign or initial the List of Artworks that will be located on the pedestal near the Gallery entrance. 5. Each piece must be labeled on the back with a completed Entry Label using blue tape or equivalent. If you cannot bring your artwork to the Gallery during the delivery period, please me to make other arrangements: pstjohn@cnr.edu However, because of limited storage space, large and/or heavy works of art must be delivered by you or your designee by Thursday, January 17, No exceptions. 4 Exhibition Dates Thursday, January 24 to Saturday, March 2, 2019 Enclose a prepaid label for return of your artwork. Please use bubble wrap or other secure wrapping. Do NOT use styrofoam noodles or peanuts. Mooney Center Gallery ~ first building on your right on Castle Place. Stop at the Security Kiosk and ask for Visitor Parking. Exhibit dates are inclusive. Gallery hours will be announced. Closing Reception Saturday, March 2, 2019 Time: 12-2 pm Artwork Removal Saturday, March 2, 2019 after the Reception and distribution of Awards (2:00 pm) OR Sunday, March 3, Artists families, friends, colleagues, purchasers of works of art, and the general public are invited to the Closing Reception. Awards will be given at the Closing Reception. Remember to bring your packing materials. If you are picking up your artwork on Sunday, March 3, 2019, ask Security to open the Gallery gates for you. ( ) Mooney Center Exhibit Hall Shipped Artwork Thursday, March 7, 2019 SALES Artwork that was shipped and included a Return Prepaid Label will be mailed back to the artist on Thursday, March 7, Sales of artworks are between the artist and the buyer. The College takes no percentage or commission for sales of artworks. Liability Questions? Every possible care will be taken of all artwork, but The College of New Rochelle does not assume responsibility for loss or damage to work in the exhibit or in transit to and from the Gallery.
