What patterns are we repeating? With collaborators Daragh Dukes and Mark Linnane the work has evolved in stating some of these biases in a series of new environments, each one acting as a sounding board where biases and inclinations are revealed. Each one of us is moved by inner forces of all kinds, invisible from the outside world. They root the singularity of our behaviours be they private or social. A piece by award-winning choreographer Liz Roche, working with Elaine Feeny, Mary Wycherley and Sinead Wallace. MORPHOSES 15 Oct Cie Utilité Publique (Switzerland) Playing with the theme of transformation, the choreographers dive freely into the fantastic world of Ovide to see how his Metamorphoses can echo our contemporary legends. A graphical piece, close to the plastic arts, where the moving body and paper, in their intrinsic fragility, become linked. A timeless dream space that satisfies a need for abstraction. LIMINAL Oct Liadain Herriott (Ireland) Everybody has a story. This one belongs to a classical girl living in a modern world. A girl, like any other, with feelings, trying to find her way in, out and through the darkness. Classical movement and music meet minimal electronic beat. Awarded Best Performer for Liminal at Tiger Dublin Fringe 2015, Liadain Herriott performs in libraries across the county for TDP 16. 6 TIPERARY DANCE PLATFORM, 7TH EDITION In this seventh edition, Tipperary Dance Platform opens its programme to various public spaces, also expanding to new towns in County Tipperary. We want to give everyone a chance to encounter dance, through shows, performances, exhibitions, classes, films and discussions. Dance is the one beautiful art that connects us directly from the flesh to the heart of the flesh: straight out to the guts, in countless, subtle different ways. Tipperary Dance Platform lives for this. To feel it, experience it, discuss it, and experiment with it. Bodies talk bodies always talk. If we repel our sensitive bodies into the darkness of ignorance, we make ourselves easy targets for those who appeal to the flesh to subjugate us. The presence of visual arts is eye-catching in the TDP 16 programme, including the exhibition Proclamation, a collection of lens-based works by Irish visual artists, dance artists and performers. Is it the choreographers growing need to collaborate and exchange? A quest for graphic visibility? A search for specific spaces to deploy new forms of dance? The shows are here to speak for themselves, and the TDP 16 forum is here to talk about it.
