1 Johanna Kirsch born 1980, Salzburg, Austria Johanna Kirschs work deals with the quest for freedom and autonomy. How directly relevant - how substantial are present ties, codes, rules, borders, limits and categories? Is there something like individual or collective autonomy beyond of hierarchy, territories and the oppression of other beings and our natural resources? Kirschs interest is it to test concrete human needs as well as the rules coming with them. Her artistic experiment tries to open up a space of alternatives in shifting perspectives. The Method changes with the context and can have the form of performance, installation, drawing, video, photo, text, film and all possible intersections.
