The focus moved from the dramatic smokey eye of the 20 s and 30 s to a sleeker cat eye and the attention was then drawn to the lips with bold pinks and reds. Women wanted to simplify but keep the glamour. When it came to the men of the other hand there was no clear cut norm for masculinity during the 1950 s. Hegemony was highly prevalent in the 1950 s. People started becoming constructed into social norms through media. Some people rebelled against the norms, like James Dean, and had more of a bad boy look, and wanted people to know that he doesn t play by the rules.
