4 Јелена Кривокапић БРАНКИЦА ЖИЛОВИЋ ШОВЕН Ма еријална сећања Сасвим посебна појава на француској и европској ликовној сцени, Бранкица Жиловић Шовен ће од године до данас, створити један од најаутентичнијих опуса у целости базираном на традицији експлоатације женских рукотворина и народног веза поднебља из којег долази, Србије и Балкана, и његовом ре-интегрисању у савремени сликарски и објектални језик. Након аналогних реконструкцијa рукописа традиционалног порекла и новог писма о судбини савременог човека, испричаних кроз радове Трејси Емин, Гаде Амер или Весне Перуновић и Бранкица Жиловић Шовен нас својим тестаментарним кончаним записима уводи у још једно поље биографске нарације и ред уметника престижне интернационалне репутације. На месту аутоматизма сликарског геста и рада несвесног универзалног мушког субјек а ex-nihilo наднесеног над површином платна, као у примерима историјског сликарства апстрактног експресионизма, енформела или ташизма, у раду ове уметнице противстављена је једна друга врста аутоматизма геста: она, која повезује изоловане акције бруталних убадања, прошивања, штеповања и нивелације кончаних записа реформисане традиције женског веза, на различитим подлогама попут папира, ригипса, текстила, књиге и одеће. Циклуси под називом Пангеа, Љуска планисфере, Приказања То ем, Поља црно-беле меморије и Варијације све ова, представљају зидне инсталације сачињене од различитих категорија бода и кончаних записа великог формата. Свака од ових инсталација је према гледаоцу креирала јединствени површински запис у ритму кончаних преплета, парања и нивелизације бода, који у коначној реализацији асоцирају на увеличане снимке неуролошких дијаграма или на врсту персонализоване мапе света. Екстензија новостворених еластичних тела у простору, креирала је читаве мреже дестабилизујуће просторнe (политичке) гравитације, крхке синапсе историјског сећања и позитивних друштвених ритуала, као и наличија њихових бруталних реалности, ишчашења, нелогичности, апсурда и врхунских фрагилности. (цит.умет.). О раду Бранкице Жиловић Шовен критика је забележила: План овог дела функционише као мембрана која раздваја реалност кроз коју пролазимо, од оне која пролази кроз нас, да би једна лична географија била претпостављена оној политичкој, и која једновремено сведочи о фрагилности њене екстензије изван познатих аспеката видљивог (J. Verhaeghe). Управо радови из ових репрезентативних циклуса њеног опуса Pangea (Пангеа), Revenants Totem (Приказања Тотем), Blackand-White Memory Fields (Поља црно-беле меморије), насталих последњих неколико година, и најновијег Variations de Mondes (Варијације светова), били би представљени у Галерији Београд под јединственим називом Ма еријална сећања. У концептуалном смислу, у раду ове уметнице отвара се читав један низ важних питања на теме: аутохтоних уметничких поступака и оних традиционално везаних за занатство, кохабитације политичког и бића интиме, родних хабитуса као места амбиваленције културолошких и повесних састава, суочавања друштвених ритуала свакодневице са записима атавистичке меморије.

6 БИОГРАФИЈА БРАНКИЦА ЖИЛОВИЋ ШОВЕН, рођена године у Србији, је француски и српски визуелни уметник и педагог који живи у Паризу. Десетогодишње искуство предавача, усмерило је њене истраживачке фокусе према креацији уметности текстила, модној индустрији и савременој уметности. Ова уметница своје радове реализује у домену уметности савременог веза, инсталације, мултимедија, сликарства и цртежа. Излагала је на бројним домаћим и иностраним изложбама. Последњих петнаест година радила је на развоју неколико пројеката са галеријама у Француској, Немачкој, Сједињеним Америчким Државама и Србији, са музејима, Француским центрима за савремену уметност, локалним и регионалним центрима у Француској (праћеним радионицама и предавањима), модним часописима, рекламним агенцијама. Добитник је друге награде за сликарство Painting Award Antoine Marin у Паризу. Тренутно је представља галерија Laure Roynette из Париза. Дипломирала је на две уметничке академије: Факултету ликовниh уметности (ФЛУ), Универзитета у Београду i École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux-Arts (DNSAP), Универзитета у Паризу. Тренутно ради као професор на три уметничке академије: ÉCOLE SUPERIEUR DES BEAUX ARTS (TALM) у Анжеу, New School PARSONS i L INSTITUT SUPÉRIEUR DES ARTS APPLIQUÉS у Паризу. 11 BIOGRAPHY BRANKICA ŽILOVIĆ CHAUVAIN, born 1972 in Serbia, is a French and Serbian visual artist and educator living in Paris. Her ten years lecturing experience has directed her educative focus to creative processes in textile art, fashion design and contemporary art. As an artist she creates through the fields of contemporary art embroidery, installations, multimedia, painting and drawing. Her work has been exhibited booth on national and international level. During last 15 years she has developed different projects with art galleries and institutions in France, Germany, Usa and Serbia, art museums, French contemporary art centers, local and regional cultural centers in France (followed by workshops and lectures), fashion magazines, advertising agencies etc. Currently she is represented by Gallery Laure Roynette in Paris. She obtained a second prize for painting from Painting Award Antoine Marin in Paris. She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux-Arts of Paris (DNSAP) and from Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. Currently she is professor at ÉCOLE SUPERIEUR DES BEAUX ARTS of Angers (TALM), University of New School PARSONS in Paris and in Institute Of Applied Art LISAA in Paris. 12 Jelena Krivokapić Brankica Žilović Chauvain Material Recollections Brankica Žilović Chauvain is quite a unique artist on the French and European visual art scene and since 2004 up to present-day she has created one of the most authentic oeuvres completely based on women s handicrafts tradition and folk embroidery from the region she comes from, Serbia and the Balkans, and its reintegration into the contemporary painterly and objectile language. After the analogous reconstructions of traditional handwritings and the new script on the fate of contemporary (wo)man, retold in the works of Tracy Emin, Ghada Amer, Vessna Perunovich - Brankica Žilović Chauvain with her testamentory thread inscriptions presents one more field of biographical narration and leads us to artists of prestigious international reputation. On the place of painterly automatism of gestures and the work of the unconscious male subject ex nihilo bent over the canvas as seen in examples of historical painting of abstract expressionism, art informel or tachisme, the work of this artist confronts us with another kind of automized gesture: the one that relates the isolated actions of brutal sticking, sewing, stitching and the leveling of the thread inscriptions of the reformed tradition of women s embroidery on different material like paper, Rigips plates, textile, books and clothes. Cycles entitled La Pangea, Peel Plainsphere, Revenants Totem, Black and White Memory Fields and Variations of the Worlds are all wall installations made of different categories of stitches and thread writings of large scale. Each of them has towards the observer created a unique surface inscription crafted in the rhythm of interlacing threads, tearing and leveling of stitches that in its final realization associate one with the blown up snapshots of neurological diagrams or with a sort of personalized map of the world. The extension of newly created elastic bodies in space, created whole nets of destabilizing spatial (political) gravitation, fragile synapses of historical memory and positive social rituals as well as facets of its brutal realities, sprains, illogicalities, absurdities and fragilities of the highest order (artist s quote). Writing about Brankica Žilović Chauvain s work the critique said: The plan of this work functions like a membrane that separates the reality we pass through from the one that passes through us so that a personal geography would be superior to the political one and which simultaneously testifies to the fragility of its extension beyond the known aspects of the visible (J. Verhaeghe). The works from the representative cycles of her oeuvre Pangea, Revenants Totem, Black and White Memory Fields made in the last few years and the latest Variations de Mondes are presented in the Gallery Beograd under the single title Material Recollections. Conceptual frame of this work raises a whole series of important questions on topics like: autochthonous artistic procedures and the traditional ones related to crafts, cohabitation of the political and the intimate being, gender habitus as places of ambivalence of its cultural and historical configurations, the confrontation of everyday social rituals with the inscriptions of atavistic memory.
