The Performing Arts Center (PAC) in partnership with the School of the Visual and Performing Arts, is pleased to announce its annual ARTstART Program benefiting students. This is an annual festival of the visual and performing arts that takes place at College of the Canyons throughout each school year. Being an ARTstART student patron is easy. You must be 5 to 18 years old and attend a K-12 school. Then, all you need do is go to the PAC box office with a parent, guardian or with your valid school ID on a date prior to the ARTstART event you want to attend and receive your FREE ticket. For Art Gallery exhibitions and openings you must be with your parent or guardian or present your valid school ID at the special event at the Gallery. 5 GOODNIGHT MOON & Saturday November 12 1 pm $25/$20/$15 Recommended for Ages 2 to 8 Adapted from Margaret Wise Brown s 60-year-old classic, GOODNIGHT MOON is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals, while THE RUNAWAY BUNNY s pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring responses from his loving mum. This hour-long stage adaptation features endearing animal puppets, stunning scenic effects and evocative music sure to please the young and young-at-heart.

6 A VERY CHRISTMAS Sunday December 4 1 pm $38/$30/$20 Brighten your holidays with "Lightwire Theater s A VERY ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS." Performed in complete darkness with dazzling, cuttingedge 'lightwire' technology, moving sculpture and dance, the show features an electric Christmas tree surrounded by presents, glow worms, dancing flowers and other creatures that light up the stage. RUDOLPH flies in and SANTA IS IN THE HOUSE, CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE and HANUKKAH SWINGS, come along with FROSTY and the band and usher in the holidays. 9 The Winter s Tale by William Shakespeare Friday & Saturday, Nov. 11, 12, 18 & 19, 8 pm Sunday, Nov. 13 & 20, 2 pm Black Box $10/$5 One of the last plays Shakespeare penned on his own, The Winter s Tale, best described as a tragi-comedy, is a transcendent work of death and rebirth, exploring irrational sexual jealousy, the redemptive world of nature, and the magical power of art. THE WINTER S TALE is possibly Shakespeare s most perfect play with its rhythm of lost and found a tarnished fairytale that redeems itself. - The London Observer Bring It On: The Musical Friday & Saturday, April 28 & 29 and May 5 & 6, 8 pm Sunday, April 30 & May 7, 2 pm Main Stage $12/$7 Campbell is cheer-royalty at Truman High School and her senior year should prove the most cheertastic - she s been named captain of the squad! But an unexpected redistricting has forced her to spend her final year of high school at the neighboring, hard knock Jackson High School. Despite having the deck stacked against her, Campbell befriends the dance crew girls and, along with their headstrong and hardworking leader Danielle, manages to form a powerhouse squad for the ultimate competition - the National Championships. 10 Ed Flynn / Avenues & Turnabouts August 30 - October 6, 2016 Artist's Reception: Saturday, August 27, 2016, 2 4 pm Edward Flynn has created his own unique painting style by combining found objects with oil paint, canvas & board. Mr. Flynn says, Metal objects are used as dictated by existing shape with no altering of the object, in the Dada method of using each piece as is. John Eden / Roundels October 25 - December 8, 2016 Artist's Reception: Saturday, October 22, 1 4 pm John Eden relies on his childhood experiences in the Newhall-Saugus area as well as his time in the military as the primal source of direction for his work. To observe, to live outside oneself, apart and separate, what I believe artists need to do, has been my calling for as long as I can remember. These diverse mediums will remain in parallel with one another by engaging in conditions of contingency as a driving force in their creative processes.

11 I am committed to the philosophy of the community college system and feel that the Art Gallery has a unique opportunity to engage the college community and the greater community at large in a healthy dialog of the arts in an educational setting. To that end, I strive to present a variety of exhibitions on all artistic levels that include the middle schools, high schools, college students, local arts and crafts groups as well as museum quality shows. Combining the real with the abstract she perfectly represents a life that is simultaneously tranquil and chaotic. There is a refreshingly clear message in her work that invites the viewer to reexamine their world. 21st Annual Student Exhibition April 18 May 18, 2017 Artist's Reception: Tuesday, April 18, 2 4 pm The Annual Student Art Exhibition takes place at the end of the spring semester and features examples from all the visual arts disciplines including; Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Graphic Design, Photography, Animation, 3D Design, Sculpture, Illustration and Film. Students submit work that is then juried by an independent arts professional who curates the exhibition to showcase the best work.
