3 Title: Work Instruction Soldering with Solder Paste Cartridge Page: 3 / 7 1 Scope of Content The document shows the solder paste cartridge preparation for soldering with Performus III dispenser. The solder paste should only be used for difficult soldering processes where the solder joints are difficult to reach or for components which can easily get damaged during normal soldering. 2 Quality Control In Ensure that the solder paste cartridge is not expired. 3 Soldering with Solder Paste 3.1 Cartridge preparation Take the solder paste cartridge. Fig.03: Attached needle tip 3.2 Connect cartridge to Performus Attach the solder paste cartridge to the Performus cartridge adapter. Fig.04: Attached cartridge adapter 3.3 Performus setup Recommended setting: Air pressure: 3 bar (43.5 PSI) Vacuum: Off Operation mode: Steady (Time off) Fig.05: Performus III 3.4 Before soldering Open the safety clip (adapter tube). The solder paste is now ready for the soldering process. Solder paste Fig.07: Prepare solder paste 3.5 Soldering Apply solder paste under the microscope. Use needle tip red. Solder points shall not be higher than the litzwires itself. Solder temperature 280 C. Use soldering tip RT1-SC. Reference time for heating: 1 second Soldering Fig.09: Soldering Clean all solder joints with Isopropanol and cotton swaps to remove unmelted residuals(solder spatter).
