3 1. KS3 and KS4 School Uniform. Compulsory dress for all students is non-negotiable, students not wearing the correct uniform will be required to change into available uniform for that day. Compulsory: Black school blazer with Bradfield logo Bradfield School tie Black school trousers or skirt with Bradfield logo Optional: Navy V neck jumper with Bradfield logo Navy cardigan with Bradfield logo These items above must be purchased through our supplier Logo Leisure Wear Compulsory: Black socks or, if wearing a skirt, black tights. White shirt (short or long-sleeved) with a white collar. Black leather (or leather-look) shoes. Not trainers. If required for religious purposes: black, dark green or navy blue headscarves (optional choice). 3
4 Shoes Black leather or black leather like shoes only. Trainers, sports shoes, logos, colours, white or coloured soles are not acceptable. Pictures for clarification only, these are types of shoes that are acceptable. Others may be available. Coats. Coats are not permitted to be worn inside the building during lesson change overs. Cultural Dress. Cultural dress (e.g. Shalvar Kameez) in the school colours (black or navy) is permitted but the lower part must be black. The school blazer must always be worn. Headscarves must be plain and in school colours (black or navy). Headscarves must not have loose or trailing material. Banned items. Body and face piercings Fashion jewellery such as large earrings, bracelets These items will be removed and confiscated from students on entry to the building, parents will be asked to collect them at their convenience. Tattoos - In accordance with UK law tattoos are not allowed under any circumstances. It is illegal to tattoo young people under the age of 18. You must be at least 18 years before you can have a tattoo; it is illegal for anyone to have a tattoo under 18 even with parental consent. Jewellery. For health and safety reasons there is a limit to the amount of jewellery that can be worn this includes: One watch One pair of stud earrings. Items of jewellery not permitted include: Necklaces hooped or fashion earrings Big fashion bracelets. rings For Health & Safety reasons students should not wear nail varnish and false nails including gels or any form of nail art. 4
5 2. KS3 and KS4 PE kit. Polo shirt with Bradfield logo Black jogging bottoms or shorts Sports trainers Optional Bradfield PE hoody, generally worn for sports team events not to be worn in the school building during the school day. No other jumper or hoodie should be brought to school. Occasionally special event clothing is organised by the school (e.g. Y11 Leavers Hoodies, departmental-based extra-curricular clothing). These items are not to be worn during the normal school day. 5
6 3. KS5 Sixth Form dress code. Dress Code Bradfield Sixth Form imposes no formal dress code on students. However, there are some requirements as listed below: Dress should conform to the current majority view in our society of what constitutes decency and must be suitable for a professional school environment. Revealing clothing e.g. shorts, crop tops, clothes made of transparent materials, would not be appropriate. Health and safety requirements may mean that for certain tasks, specific items of clothing such as overalls, protective clothing, etc. must be worn. Where wearing such items conflicts with a religion or belief, the issue will be sympathetically considered with the aim of finding a satisfactory and safe solution. Wearing clothing with pictures or slogans which are considered discriminatory or offensive is not permitted. These restrictions are in place as some articles of clothing may be regarded as offensive to some staff or students and be regarded as discriminatory in terms of sex or sexual orientation, religious beliefs, racial or ethnic origins, or any other discriminatory grounds. The school's Senior Leadership Team will be the arbiters in any case of dispute about what constitutes appropriate clothing. 6
