2 ROFIN DQ SERIES THE PRODUCT 3,000 Times More Powerful than a CW Laser Removal, Cleaning, Insulation the Q-switched lasers of ROFIN are the ideal tool for these and other surface treatment applications. The DQ Series, which is based on the reliable diodepumped Nd:YAG lasers, is available in various versions and suitable for diverse industrial requirements. The versions differ in power, pulse energy and equipment. The unique principle of the Q-switch makes peak pulse performances possible that are a 3,000 times higher than the cw laser power. To meet the high demands of the industry, there is not only the single version with one cavity, but also the double version with two cavities in one housing. 3 ROFIN DQ SERIES THE PRINCIPLE Power by Concentration CW lasers have a special operating mode, called Q-switching. The beam path is optically blocked by an active element (the Q-switch). The continuously supplied energy is stored by the laser-active crystal. Once released, the stored energy is delivered in a short pulse. Afterwards, the optical path is closed again. This process is repeated with frequencies of cw from 600 up to 60,000 Hz. The pulse lengths may vary between 36 and 300 ns. With these short pulses, peak performance levels are achieved of more than a 3,000 times higher than the cw laser power.
