Lives and works in Paris (FR) In her most recent works Kapwani Kiwanga appears as a scientist, mobilizing her knowledge in social sciences to develop research projects. Following a singular methodology, she creates specific protocols that she uses as filters to observe culture s mutability ; the result can take the form of installations, videos or performances. Kapwani Kiwanga studied anthropology and comparative religions at McGill University (Montréal, CA). She participated in the program «La Seine» at the Ecole Nationale Supérieuwre des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and also works at Le Fresnoy (a french national center for contemporary art). She was artist in residence at the MU Foundation in Eindhoven (NL) and at the Box in Bourges (FR). In 2015, The Galerie Jérôme Poggi has dedicated three solo shows to her work, at London for 1:54 African art fair, at the gallery with the show "Continental shift", and the project "Flowers for AFrica" at FIAC - Grand Palais. Kapwani Kiwanga has been named as commissionned artist for the 2016 Armory Show ( New York City)
