Theory 50% Examinations, 1 Practicum 50% For 6 day class training, six eight procedures 3 CERTIFICATION Certification on successful completion of course Blood Borne Pathogens & Communicable Diseases Although not yet a requirement by most municipalities, students are reimbursed for the cost of obtaining certification in Blood Borne Pathogens. The provider is a Department of Health approved educator. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Students are reimbursed for the cost of obtaining certification in the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. 2 Same as brow practicum 3 Models are arranged by the Centre for Permanent Makeup for students who reside more than 2 hours drive from Ottawa. For classes in cities other than Ottawa, model recruitment is the responsibility of the student.

The first & only school in North America to offer students: Certification in blood borne pathogens & communicable diseases from a Department of Health approved educator Theoretical review & practicum, face to face or via Skype The first & only school in Canada to offer an Apprenticeship Program A course of study focused on the analysis & enhancement of facial features Experience with 2 hand tools, microblade & Softap, and 2 4 machines (rotary & digital) with regular and nano needles The knowledge to create in 2 & 3D The knowledge to adjust lip size and correct imbalances The protection of a personal services contract Free procedures from other students if desired Total investment by the student is about 250 hours taking into consideration self-study, online certification, classroom and practise afterwards. Try Before You Buy Using hand tools for micropigmentation, also referred to as micro-blading, is one approach to inserting pigment into the skin. Other options are rotary or digital machines. At the Centre for Permanent Makeup, students have the opportunity to learn and practise these methods. The initial outlay for hand tools is minimal. Rotary and digital equipment costs range anywhere from $250 - $4300. With the variance in investment it's important to try before buying. No surprises Students do not find when they arrive for instruction that they are obligated to pay an additional $ $ HST for digital equipment. ABOUT THE OWNER In 2006, Maureen Williams, the owner of the Centre for Permanent Makeup, received certification for Beginner & Advanced (scar & areola) Micropigmentation, the use of hand tools for hair stroke eyebrows, Rejuvi Permanent Makeup & Tattoo Removal and dry needling (brown spot, capillary and wrinkle removal). In 2009, she received training in Ontario on the use of the Nouveau Contour Intelligent digital machine. Maureen is certified every two years in Blood Borne Pathogens & Communicable Diseases. She has also taken eye shadow & para-medical training in Florida. In May 2014, she was certified for tattoo removal using the Tattoo Vanish method in Las Vegas, Nevada. In December 2014, she trained with Alexis Lawson, Softap founder, on the use of hand tools. Alexis has a 25 year history in the industry. Maureen is of the opinion that practitioners need to continually evolve through education and training and that the goal of permanent makeup artists should be to create a natural look.

9 Rather than restricting practical work to supervising students, Maureen continues to hone her skills by offering an apprenticeship program in her studio and performing some paramedical services. This ensures that she is up to date on best practices, safety issues, risks and hazards, the performance of different pigment brands and equipment, legislation and evolving trends. Prior to choosing permanent makeup, Maureen worked as a contract Writer & Researcher, Fund Raiser, Insurance Broker and Financial Planner, Manager of Information & Technology, Manager of Administration, Finance Officer and clerk. RECOMMENDED FEE STRUCTURE To ensure that micropigmentation practitioners receive adequate compensation for their services, taking into consideration the risks involved and after a review of charges across Canada, we recommend the following fee structure: Brows $475 - $900 Eye Liner $475 - $800 -Upper Eye Liner $350 - $450 -Lower Eye Liner $350 Lip Liner $600 Lips $800 - $900 The quoted fees include 1 touch-up. A refresh, recommended every year or two, can be charged at half the price of the original procedure or $100 per hour depending on the market. In B.C. fees are $ for brows, $800 for eyeliner and $1000 for lips. In Ontario, the average is $425 - $600 for eyebrows, $400 - $500 for eye & lip liner and $600 - $750 for full lip shading. In Toronto, experienced technicians charge hour and para-medical varies widely from hour to $250 a half hour. Fredericton, New Brunswick charges are $450+ for eyebrows, $700 for eye liner, $600+ for lip liner and $800+ for full lip shading. ETHICAL BEHAVIOUR Micropigmentation artists need to present themselves in a positive light. By practicing integrity in their relationships, clients will learn to trust their opinion. Find a business name that is uniquely your own. Avoid making negative remarks about your competition. Avoid misrepresenting yourself.
