1 DRESS STANDARDS UNIFORM AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE POLICY Students are expected t cmply with the schl s dress standards. The schl unifrm was chsen by the Parents and Citizens Assciatin after wide cnsultatin. The Parents and Citizens Assciatin has als expressed the expectatin that all students attending Tullawng State High Schl shuld wear the crrect schl unifrm and that it is t be wrn withut additins r alteratins. Parental/Carer supprt in these areas is imprtant fr the students and fr the schl. All Tullawng State High Schl students are required t wear crrect schl unifrm. This is fr tw main reasns:- 1. Security - prmtes a safe envirnment fr learning by enabling ready identificatin f students and nn-students f the schl; 2. The reputatin f Tullawng State High Schl is influenced by hw students present themselves t the general public. All students need t be aware that future emplyers are affected, nt nly by the behaviur they see as students leave schl, but hw students at this schl wear the unifrm t and frm schl. One f ur bjectives at Tullawng High is t prepare students fr future emplyment, in additin t develping the best pssible cmmunity reputatin fr ur students and fr the schl. This Plicy is part f the Tullawng State High Schl s Respnsible Behaviur Plan fr Students. Persistent refusal t cmply with the schl s dress standards and explicitly stated instructins may result in the student being issued with cnsequences accrding t the schl s behaviur management plicy. SKIRT Black skirt, three knife pleats each side, frnt and back with embridered lg. Length f skirt frm under waistband: size 10A 48cm, size 12A 52cm, all ther sizes 56cm. May be wrn with plain black stckings/tights instead f ankle r crew Tullawng SHS branded scks. NB Straight skirts and pleated sprts skirts are nt acceptable as a unifrm skirt. 4 SUN PROTECTION POLICY The Tullawng High Schl plicy states that all students must wear a hat t participate in utdr activities. A schl hat has been included as a cmpnent f the unifrm and this will be the nly accepted headwear while at schl and when participating in schl sprting activities. PERSONAL APPEARANCE JEWELLERY The Parents and Citizens Assciatin feels strngly abut the quality f ur schl and impses the fllwing jewellery restrictins. Students are t wear n jewellery apart frm: a watch, a plain flat ring, ne matching pair f small, plain sleepers r studs, ne in each ear lbe; r a single plain sleeper r stud.

5 HAIR and MAKEUP Clured nail plish and makeup are nt permitted. Students will be asked t remve nail plish and makeup. Artificial hair cluring shuld nt be in excessively bright, unnatural clurs. Unusually dramatic hairstyles such as extreme cluring r hair f bviusly different lengths are nt acceptable. Hair accessries such as ribbns must be schl clurs and n negtiated days may be in Huse clurs. Other accessries such as flwers and clips are nt part f the unifrm. TATTOO S All students with visible tatts must have them cvered while at schl. ADDITIONAL PIERCING and PRESENTATION We d nt recmmend facial r additinal piercing. Fr Wrkplace, Health and Safety reasns, students will whilst at schl remve facial and additinal piercing when invlved in activities where piercings are deemed unsafe. Students wh cnsistently wear additinal jewellery t schl (including piercings) may have this cnfiscated and parents will be requested t cllect cnfiscated items frm the ffice. At the discretin f the principal, students may be instructed t cver markings r identifiers such as tatts if they have the ptential t cause ffence, t be intimidating t thers r t negatively influence the reputatin f Tullawng State High Schl. If a student has a facial r additinal piercings be a clear keeper r remved and left at hme prir t cming t schl. It is recmmended that if students are planning t get a facial r an additinal piercing, that they d this at the beginning f the Christmas vacatin s that the healing time causes least incnvenience t students. Students wh chse t get a facial r additinal piercing where the healing time (generally accepted as six weeks) ges int schl days, are required t: At all times have the piercing cvered by a flesh-clured band aid at their wn expense; Immediately apply a new flesh-clured band aid at their wn expense if the riginal band aid cmes ff during the day; Prvide the huse leaders with a medical nte frm parents/guardians stating the date f the piercing (r the date f an infectin). CONSEQUENCES Students wh wear facial r additinal piercings t schl are t remve them immediately. These items are t be cnfiscated and stred at the ffice. Students wh have prvided medical ntes t the Huse Leaders will be wearing band aids as per details abve and will nt be required t remve the piercings within the healing time. Huse Leaders will keep recrds and prvide students with a unifrm slip fr the healing time. Students must carry the slip with them at all times, prduce it upn request and at all times have their piercing cvered with a band aid. Detentins may be given fr breaches f the Unifrm and Persnal Appearance Plicy. Persistent nncmpliance will be dealt with by Administratin as the student is refusing t cmply with schl plicy.
