2 Page 2 Uniform Philosophy GENERAL RATIONALE FOR A DRESS CODE 1. Being overly concerned with clothing and outward appearances is contrary to God's will for us as revealed in Scripture (1 Sam. 16:7; Matt. 6:19-21; James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17). 2. Pressures felt by students to compete in areas of dress are destructive to the unity of the school and the body of Christ. 3. Everything in our lives, including our clothing, should reflect the order of the Godhead and the order He has created in the world (1 Corinthians 14:40). 4. Clothing should be modest and not draw attention to the individual (1 Timothy 2:9) and should reflect differences in gender (Deuteronomy 22:5). 5. Our students are serving as witnesses and ambassadors both for the Lord Jesus Christ and the school. Student appearance is a reflection of both. SPECIFIC RATIONALE FOR UNIFORMS 1. Uniforms are a positive discipline in the school. emphasizes the value of a disciplined learning environment. Just as dressing up, even wearing uniforms, is a part of the workday for parents, a school uniform is a signal to the student that it s time for hard work and studious activity. 2. Uniforms prevent problems associated with the subjective interpretation of a dress code policy. Uniforms eliminate any confusion about what is acceptable, modest and appropriate by 's standards. 3. Uniforms tend to decrease the cost of student clothing. Our uniform vendors provide economical and durable items. Often parents need only purchase two or three sets of uniforms to last throughout the school year and often these same items can be handed down to other students. When founding fathers John Adams, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams attended Harvard, the university s credo began with the following: THE MAIN END OF LIFE AND STUDIES IS TO KNOW GOD AND JESUS, WHICH IS ETERNAL LIFE, AND THEREFORE TO LAY CHRIST AS THE ONLY FOUNDATION OF ALL SOUND KNOWLEDGE AND LEARNING.

3 Page 3 Dress Code for Students ENFORCEMENT 1. The school staff, faculty and administration will enforce the Uniform and Dress Code Policy. Interpretation and application of the Uniform and Dress Code standards will be the responsibility of the Grammar and Upper School Principals. 2. Students not complying with the Uniform and Dress Code Policy may be required to rectify their appearance immediately, at the discretion of an administrator. This may include removing the prohibited item (e.g., a jacket or a piece of jewelry), or waiting in the school office while a parent is called to campus with the appropriate clothing item. 3. Cheerful, consistent compliance is expected. Students who violate the Uniform and Dress Code Policy, either by action or by challenging and rebellious attitudes, will be subject to disciplinary actions. GENERAL DRESS CODE FOR ALL STUDENTS Students must only wear the uniform from their grade s approved list. All pants, shorts, skorts, jumpers, dresses, shirts, sweatshirts and blouses must be purchased through the Lands End Catalog (unless otherwise noted), PTF Resale Uniforms, or from one of Trinity s approved Spirit Wear vendors. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. "Blousing" of shirts is not permitted. Shoes designed for laces are to be worn with appropriate, matching, tied laces. Belts are required for both boys and girls on any item of clothing that has belt loops. Belts may be Black, Navy or Brown. No decorative belt buckles are allowed. Transitional-Kindergarten thru First Grade ONLY may choose to not wear a belt. Pants must be properly fitted: excessively baggy and sagging pants are not permitted, nor are pants that are too tight. Jewelry and make-up need to be conservative, not distracting to students, not extreme in appearance or excessive in amount. Rubber bracelets are not permitted. Dangling or hoop earrings are not permitted on girls in Transitional-Kindergarten thru 6th grade. Jewelry in pierced body parts, with the exception of earrings for girls, is not permitted. All students must keep their hair neatly groomed and conservatively styled. Strange cutting or coloring of the hair, yellow or bleached-out hair is not permitted. Barrettes, hair bows and all hair accessories are allowed in moderate sizes and must be in Black or Brown or in colors (Navy, White, Burgundy). Hair accessories may be plain or a muted pattern matching the uniform (plaid, plain with small polka dots or stripes). Small flowers (2 or less) are allowed in the approved colors only. Headbands, etc. are permitted up to 2 in width. Visible tattoos are not permitted.

4 Page 4 Uniform Guidelines for ALL Grades TK thru 12th Grade OUTER COATS AND JACKETS One to two color non-trinity jackets are permitted to be worn to and from school, and during recess/brunch/lunch, but may not have any kind of lettering, characters, pattern, design or advertising, except in the case of a small manufacturers label or the Trinity logo. No outer coats or jackets of any kind may be worn in the classroom during the school day. Approved sweaters, sweatshirts and fleece-wear are permitted in the classroom. BACKPACKS Solids, patterns and multiple colors are permitted. A small manufacturer s label, the Trinity logo, or the student s name is allowed. No characters, pictures, lettering, etc. is permitted. HATS, SCARVES, GLOVES, ETC. Hats, scarves and gloves may not be worn in the classroom. During cold weather, hats, gloves and scarves may be worn outside but must be plain, solid Navy, Black, Burgundy or White. They may not have any kind of lettering, characters or advertising, except in the case of the Trinity logo. Baseball hats are not permitted at any time. SWEATERS AND SWEATSHIRTS: Only sweaters, fleece-wear and sweatshirts with the Trinity logo purchased from Lands End or one of Trinity s approved Spirit Wear vendors are permitted to be worn to, from and at school. Sweaters and sweatshirts from Lands End must be ordered in Navy or Burgundy. Note: Fleece-wear, sweatshirts and sweaters are not to be worn in place of a uniform shirt. An approved collared shirt must be worn underneath. SOCKS, TIGHTS, LEGGINGS Socks (or tights for girls) must be worn with every shoe choice. Girls: Solid White, Navy or Black: folded bobby, knee length, above the ankle crew or peds small manufacturer s logo is allowed though no words. White or Navy tights are also permitted as well as Navy, Black or White plain ankle or knee-length leggings under a skirt or dress in lieu of modesty shorts no lace, ruffles, patterns or design. Boys: Solid White, Navy or Black: above the ankle, crew or peds small manufacturer s logo is allowed though no words. Boys may wear sport (basketball) socks as long as they conform to these guidelines. SHOES Shoes must be clean and in good condition. No slip-on shoes for TK thru 6th Grade. Students may wear SOLID White, Navy, Gray, Brown, or Black shoes - a small accent amount of White, Navy, Black or Gray/Silver is allowed, but no other words, patterns, designs, pictures, colors, sparkles, sequins, or rhinestones may be present anywhere on the shoe including the soles, accents, etc. Logos such as the Nike swoosh, the Adidas stripes, and the Under Armour mark need to be in White, Navy, Black, Gray, Brown or Black. Laces must be in the same color choices. ONLY Upper School students have additional shoe options; please see those grades for details. Students are not permitted to wear moccasins or boots in any grade level. Leather high-top or mid-rise basketball shoes are permitted in the allowed colors. No canvas high-top Converse or similar style shoe is allowed for the Grammar School, though is permitted for the Logic and Rhetoric Schools. Girls may wear saddle shoes (Navy/White or Black/White) or Mary Janes with a strap (Black, Navy or Brown). Velcro is permitted for students in Transitional-Kindergarten thru First Grade. BELTS Solid Brown, Black or Navy belts must be worn with all pants and shorts that have belt loops. Only Transitional-Kindergarten through First Grade may choose to not wear a belt.

5 Page 5 Uniform Guidelines by Grade Please Note: There are three separate dress codes - one for each part of the Trivium: Grammar (TK 6th), Logic (7th 8th) and Rhetoric (9th 12th) Your student is only permitted to wear uniform choices from their grade, so please carefully observe the dress code guidelines and do not order uniforms that are not approved for their grade level. s uniform items are found in the Lands End School catalog and on their website. When ordering uniforms from Lands End, you may find discrepancies between the selections on the website versus the selections in the catalog and this document, as they frequently change item numbers, descriptions, availability of stock, color choice, color names, etc. on the website. While every attempt is made to keep this document up to date, we highly recommend consulting with a Lands End representative, or using the Find My School feature below for an accurate, up to date listing of what uniform items are acceptable for our school and your child s grade level. 6 Page 6 GIRLS: TK 6th Grade Grammar School Code: MODESTY SHORTS/LEGGINGS Mid-thigh length Modesty Shorts (bike shorts) OR Leggings (ankle or knee length) in solid Navy, White or Black must be worn under Dresses, Jumpers and Skirts that do not have them built-in. Leggings must be plain - no lace, ruffles, patterns or design. OPTION ONE: DRESSES & JUMPERS All Dresses and Jumpers must have the Trinity logo embroidered and be worn no more than 2 above the knee. A White Blouse (no Polo Shirts) must be worn under Jumpers. DRESSES Mesh Polo Dress (Short-Sleeve or Long Sleeve), Short-Sleeve Ruffle Hem Dress and Short-Sleeve Ponté Dress in Navy. JUMPERS (No Knit Jumpers) Solid Jumper (polyester/rayon blend) and the Solid Front A-line Jumper in Navy. The following Blouses and Oxfords are the ONLY shirts that may be worn under a Jumper. However, these shirts may also be worn with Pants, Skirts and Skorts: The Long-Sleeve No Iron Pinpoint, Stretch Perfect No Gape Shirt (Short-Sleeve, Long-Sleeve and ¾ Sleeve), Stretch Shirt (Short-Sleeve, Long-Sleeve, ¾ Sleeve), Short-Sleeve Peter Pan Collar Shirt, Broadcloth Shirt (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Short-Sleeve Piped Collar Shirt or the Oxford Blouse (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in White. OPTION TWO: BLOUSE/POLO WITH SKIRT OR SKORT Skirts and Skorts must be Top-of-Knee (no more than 2 ) or Below-the-Knee in length. All Blouses, Shirts and Polo Shirts must be tucked-in and have the Trinity logo embroidered. SKIRTS Solid A-Line Skirt Below the Knee, Solid Pleated Skirt Below the Knee, Solid Side Button Skirt Top of Knee, Solid Long Pleated Skirt and the Solid A-line Pocket Skirt in Navy. SKORTS (No Knit Skorts) Active Skort, Blend Chino Skort Top of Knee, and the Solid Pleated Skort Top of Knee in Navy. Along with the Blouses and Oxfords mentioned above, the following Polo Shirts may be worn with Pants, Skirts or Skorts: Interlock Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Performance Mesh Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Fem Fit Interlock Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Placket Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), and the Fem Fit Mesh Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in White or Burgundy. Peter Pan Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Short-Sleeve Ruffle Collar Polo and the Short-Sleeve Placket Polo in White. OPTION THREE: BLOUSE/SHIRT WITH PANTS All Blouses, Shirts and Polo Shirts must always be tucked-in and have the Trinity logo embroidered. PANTS Woven Stretch Pencil Leg Chino, Plain Front Blend Chino Pant, Plain Front Stretch Chino Pant, Elastic Waist Blend Chino Pant, and the Boot Cut Stretch Chino Pant in Navy only. BELTS Solid Brown, Black or Navy belts must be worn with all pants and shorts that have belt loops. No decorative belt buckles are allowed. Only Transitional-Kindergarten thru First Grade only may choose to not wear a belt. Shorts are not permitted for Grammar School girls.

7 Page 7 BOYS: TK 6th Grade Grammar School Code: SHIRTS AND OXFORDS All Oxfords and Polo Shirts must be tucked-in and have the Trinity logo embroidered. Grammar School boys may wear the following Oxford with Pants: Short-Sleeve Tailored Fit Interlock Polo and the Long-Sleeve Oxford in White. Grammar School boys may also wear the following Polo Shirts with Pants: Performance Mesh Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Tailored Fit Interlock Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Tailored Fit Mesh Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) or the Interlock Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in White or Burgundy. PANTS & SHORTS No cargo-style pants or shorts are permitted. Pants and shorts must be worn with a belt with the exception of Transitional-Kindergarten through First Grade. Students in these grades may choose not to wear a belt. PANTS: Stain Resist Plain Front Chino Pant, Tailored Fit Plain Front Pant, Iron Knee Blend Plain Front Chino, Tailored Fit Blend Plain Front Pant, Iron Knee Elastic Waist Blend Chino, Perfect Chino Pant, and the Iron Knee Blend Pleat Chino Pant in Navy. SHORTS: Cotton Plain Front Chino Shorts, Plain Front Blend Chino Shorts, Blend Pleat Front Chino Shorts, and the Elastic Waist Shorts in Navy. BELTS: Solid Brown, Black or Navy belts must be worn with all pants and shorts that have belt loops. No decorative belt buckles are allowed. Only Transitional-Kindergarten through First Grade may choose to not wear a belt. HAIR Grammar School boys hair must be natural, trimmed and neat. It must be cut short and off the collar in the back, above the ears, and above the brow line. SHOES FOR ALL GRAMMAR SCHOOL STUDENTS Shoes must be clean and in good condition. No slip-on shoes for the Grammar School. Shoes must be clean and in good condition. They may also wear ballet-style flats with or without a strap; Tom s or other slip-on shoes; as well as high-top or mid-rise basketball shoes or Converse style high tops. Shoes designed for laces are to be worn with appropriate, matching, tied laces. Trinity Students are not permitted to wear moccasins or boots in any grade level.

POLO SHIRTS Interlock Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) and the Performance Mesh Polo (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve in White, Burgundy or Navy. Tailored Fit Interlock Polo (Short-Sleeve), Tailored Fit Mesh Polo (Short-Sleeve) and the Basic Poly Polo (Short-Sleeve) in Navy or White. Active Short-Sleeve Poly Polo in Navy. Polo Shirts from Trinity s Spirit Wear vendors in Navy, White or Burgundy, OXFORDS & BUTTON-DOWN SHIRTS No-Iron Oxford Pinpoint (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) and the Oxford (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in Blue, French Blue or White. Broadcloth Perfect Shirt (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in Light Sea Blue or White. PANTS Logic School boys may wear pants and shorts that are not purchased through Lands End. BELTS Solid Brown, Black or Navy belts must be worn with all pants and shorts that have belt loops. No decorative belt buckles are allowed. They may also wear slip-on shoes, as well as high-top or mid-rise basketball shoes and Converse style high tops. Shoes must be clean and in good condition. 11 Page 11 Logic School Formal Uniform Logic School Code: Logic School Students are REQUIRED to wear a more formal uniform for special occasions. These days include the First Day of School, Picture Day, Grandparents Day, Corporate Time, Chapel, Field Trips, and Promotion, as well as other days throughout the year that may be announced. Logic School Girls Solid Pleated or Box-Pleat Skirt in Navy or Khaki. Woven Oxford Shirt (Short-Sleeve, ¾ Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) tucked-in and embroidered with the Trinity logo in White, Blue, French Blue or Light Sea Blue. Dress Shoes or ballet-style flats (with or without straps) in solid Black, Gray, Navy, Brown or Nude. Optional: Any style uniform sweater available to Logic School girls from Lands End embroidered with the Trinity logo in Navy or Burgundy. Logic School Boys Stain Resist Plain Front Chino, Iron Knee Blend Plain Front Chino, Iron Knee Elastic Waist Blend Chino, or Iron Knee Blend Pleat Chino pants in Gray, Navy or Khaki. No cargo-style pants. No-Iron Woven Oxford (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), Oxford (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve), or the Broadcloth Perfect Shirt (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) Tucked-in and embroidered with the Trinity logo in White, Blue, Light Sea Blue and French Blue. Dress shoes, boat shoes, loafers, oxfords, or bucks, etc. in Navy, Black, Brown or Gray. Shoes must be clean and in good condition. No athletic shoes. Optional: Any style uniform sweater available to Logic School boys from Lands in Navy or Burgundy. Sweaters must have the embroidered Trinity logo.

12 Page 12 LADIES: 9th 12th Grade Rhetoric School Code: BLOUSES, OXFORDS & POLO SHIRTS All Blouses, Oxfords and Polo Shirts must be tucked-in and have the Trinity logo embroidered. Blouses and Oxfords: Oxford (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in French Blue, Blue and White, No Iron Pinpoint (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in Blue or White, Short-Sleeve Stretch Perfect No Gape in Light Sea Blue or White, ¾ Sleeve or Long-Sleeve Stretch Perfect No Gape in White or Light Sea Blue, Short-Sleeve Peter Pan Collared Shirt in Light Sea Blue or White, or the Broadcloth Shirt (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve) in Light Sea Blue or White and the Short-Sleeve Piped Collared Shirt in White. If a Plaid Skirt or Skort is worn with a Polo Shirt, colors must complement/match i.e., no Burgundy Polo Shirts with Clear Blue Plaid Skirts. HAIR Rhetoric School gentlemen have the option to grow their hair longer than students in the Grammar and Logic Schools. However, hair must be well groomed and eyes must be visible. Hair must be a natural color and cannot be a distraction to other students, faculty, staff or administration. Hair cannot be unkempt, outlandish or excessively styled (e.g., no mohawks or shaved heads). Students will be asked to cut their hair if these guidelines are not observed.
