23 Avoid knee injuries by wearing the correct kneepads Choosing the correct kneepads is very important. A kneepad, which goes flat after short use offers little knee protection and can cause knee injury. All Timber s knee pads, whether they are made of rubber foam or silica gel offer 100% memory. The gel insert is made of a squidgy super shock absorbent material whereas the foam pad has the benefit of being very light in weight. Timber offers two different types of kneepads, the inside the trouser knee pad (which sits in an inner pocket inside the trousers) and an outside the trouser knee pad where the knee protection is strapped comfortably and securely onto the knee with Velcro split straps. The inside the trouser kneepad The inside the trouser type provides excellent knee protection, particularly when the job involves frequent changing kneeling positions. It is made of rubber foam and is available with or without a fixed gel cushion for extra support. The outside the trouser kneepad The outside the trouser type provides the maximum knee protection due to a large attachable air gel insert which sits on the inside of an outer shell. This knee protection is well suited when the job requires prolonged kneeling and when kneeling on rough surfaces including concrete. The outer cap is available either in a hard PU cap for mainly outdoor use and in a soft cap made of Kevler and is very suitable for indoor use.
