1 TEXTILE COMMITTEE MARKET REPORT Apr-Jan, Export Performance of India s T&C Products Textiles Committee Government of India
2 Export Performance of India s Textile and Clothing (T&C) Products 1.0 Introduction: As per the DGCI&S data, the export of Textile and Clothing products during the period April-January of declined by 2.50% to USD 30, million against USD 31, million during the same period for In rupee terms, there is a positive growth of 0.77% from Rs. 2,02, crore to Rs. 2,04, crore. It is important to note that about 54% of the export of India belongs to Textiles and 46% Clothing. Details may be seen at Annexure-I. The export of textile products during the period April-January of declined by 4.67% to USD 16, million as against USD 17, million during the same period for In rupee terms, there is a negative growth of 1.46% from Rs. 1,12, crore to Rs. 1,10, crore. Similarly the export of Clothing products during the period April-January of has grown by 0.18% to USD 13, million against USD 13, million during the same period for In rupee terms also, there is a growth of 3.55% from Rs. 90, crore to Rs. 93, crore. 2. Product-wise data is as under: 1.1 Export Performance of Textile Products 1. Cotton Fabrics, made-ups etc: Export value of cotton fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 28, crore) showing negative growth of 3.43% in dollar terms (-0.18% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 2. Manmade yarn, fabrics, made-ups: Export value of manmade yarn, fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 24, crore) showing negative growth of 5.05% in dollar terms (-1.85% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Cotton Yarn: Export value of cotton yarn was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 18, crore) showing negative growth of 9.55% in dollar terms (-6.51% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has also gone down from lakh MT to lakh MT (-8.00%). 4. Handcrafts (Excl. Handmade carpets): Export value of handcrafts (excl. handmade carpets) was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing positive growth of 17.28% in dollar terms (21.23% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 5. Carpet (Excl. Silk) Handmade: Export value of carpet (excl. silk) was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 8, crore) showing positive growth of 0.26% in dollar terms (3.63% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from lakh Sqm to lakh Sqm (4.58%). 6. Cotton Raw including Waste: Export value of cotton raw including waste was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing negative growth of 28.20% in dollar terms (-26.40% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has also declined from lakh MT to 7.19 lakh MT (-34.87%). The average unit value realization is marginally higher than the previous year. 7. Manmade staple fibre: Export value of manmade staple fibre was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 3, crore) showing positive growth of 9.05% in dollar terms (12.72% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity has also shown positive growth from lakh kg to lakh kg (9.55%). 8. Other textiles yarn, fabric made-ups article: Export value of other textiles yarn, fabric made-ups article was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 1, crore) showing positive growth of 4.46% in dollar terms (7.98% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 9. Handloom products: Export value of handloom products was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 1, crore) showing negative growth of 5.69% in dollar terms (-2.52% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Coir and Coir manufactures: Export value of coir and coir manufactures was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 1, crore) showing positive growth of 20.21% in dollar terms (24.25% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 11. Woolen yarn, fabrics, made-ups: Export value of woolen yarn, fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing negative growth of 13.15% in dollar terms (-10.23% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 12. Jute Hessian: Export value of jute hessian was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing positive growth of 16.03% in dollar terms (19.93% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 13. Other Jute Manufactures: Export value of other jute manufactures was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing positive growth of 11.55% in dollar terms (15.30% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 5 1.2 Export Performance of Clothing Products 1. RMG Cotton Incl. Accessories: Export value of cotton RMG incl. accessories was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 46, crore) showing negative growth of 7.59% in dollar terms (-4.48% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 2. RMG Manmade: Export value of manmade RMG was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 26, crore) showing positive growth of 16.64% in dollar terms (20.56% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 3. RMG of other textiles material: Export value of other textiles material RMG was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs. 18, crore) showing positive growth of 5.41% in dollar terms (8.95% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 4. RMG Wool: Export value of wool RMG was USD million during Apr- Jan, (Rs. 1, crore) showing negative growth of 21.34% in dollar terms (-18.69% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 5. RMG Silk: Export value of silk RMG was USD million during Apr- Jan, (Rs crore) showing negative growth of 31.44% in dollar terms (-29.14% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Natural Silk yarn, fabrics, made-ups: Export value of natural silk yarn, fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing negative growth of 27.53% in dollar terms (-25.09% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. 2. Floor Covering of Jute: Export value of floor covering of jute was USD million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing positive growth of 9.65% in dollar terms (13.34% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has shown negative growth from lakh Sqm to lakh Sqm (-13.00%). 3. Silk waste: Export value of silk waste was USD million during Apr- Jan, (Rs crore) showing positive growth of 8.12% in dollar terms (11.76% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from lakh kg to lakh kg (26.69%). 4. Jute Raw: Export value of jute raw was USD 8.36 million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing negative growth of 31.58% in dollar terms (-29.28% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has also declined from MT to MT (-33.14%). 5. Jute Yarn: Export value of jute yarn was USD 7.40 million during Apr-Jan, (Rs crore) showing negative growth of 54.23% in dollar terms (-52.69% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has also gone down from MT to 6185 MT (-59.70%). 6. Silk Carpet: Export value of silk carpet was USD 6.08 million during Apr- Jan, (Rs crore) showing positive growth of % in dollar terms (167.48% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year. Export in quantity terms has shown positive growth from Sqm to Sqm (10.69%). 7. Wool Raw: Export value of wool raw was USD 0.28 million during Apr-Jan, (Rs lakh) showing negative growth of 27.03% in dollar terms (-24.57% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last Page 7 of 8
8 year. Export in quantity terms has shown positive growth from kg to kg (61.55%). 8. Silk Raw: Export value of silk raw was USD 0.07 million during Apr-Jan, (Rs lakh) showing negative growth of 68.73% in dollar terms (-67.68% in rupee terms) as compared to corresponding period last year.
