2 Yes Either a crested blazer or a crested school jumper to be worn at all times Plain white shirt tucked in at the waist Uniform & Appearance At KHS we believe that wearing uniform plays a vital role in creating a sense of belonging to the school community, a view supported strongly by parents and governors. The following guidance provides clarification of not only the items that must be worn but also the spirit within which they should be worn, based on principles of sound health, safety and security. No A plain black or dark blue non-crested V-neck jumper or cardigan may be worn under the blazer Buttonable to the top; no blouses No shirt tails hanging out School tie, worn with shirt, tied to expose no more than the 1st button hole Black school tailored trousers Black school skirt between knee and ankle length A school crested polo shirt (short sleeve or long sleeve) may be worn as the item of clothing from 1st May each year Plain dark socks or tights Plain black footwear The school will not be held responsible for foot injuries if the shoe does not offer suitable protection Plain dark outdoor coat or jacket in a school colour ie black, grey or navy blue Plain hijab in a school colour ie black, grey, navy blue or white, ensuring that the face is clearly visible Year 11 may continue to wear the old school tie if they wish No fashion trousers/leggings/jeans/belts No wearing trousers low at the back or exposing underwear No skirt to trail on the floor No skirt significantly shorter than knee length No long sleeved item may be worn under the short sleeve polo shirt Ties should not be worn with the polo shirt No above the knee socks or leggings We recommend waterproof shoes that protect the sole and offer protection to the upper foot No footwear to be worn over trousers No hoodies No decorative or patterned hijabs No keffiyeh scarves/shawls No scarfs to be worn as headbands No clothing which hides the student s face No visible logos, adverts on any clothing In sunny weather, plain hat in a school colour ie black, grey, navy blue or white Studs or small sleepers in pierced ears No hat to be worn indoors, no other hats may be worn No jewellery or visible makeup Only plain natural nails, no gels

3 School Uniform A student must be wearing at least one item that displays the school crest. These can be: The crested jumper only The blazer with a plain black/dark blue jumper The crested jumper and the blazer

5 Shoes - Plain Black Footwear When you choose shoes, remember that they need to protect your child from rain and from risk of injury, especially in labs, technology rooms and food rooms as well the playground. The school cannot be held responsible if your child is injured because their shoes have not protected them. Patterns, logos, white soles and stripes are not acceptable, because they are not black.

6 Prohibited Items No other jackets or cardigans, only blue or black plain jackets Hoodies or visible logos No headphones No shawls No basketball caps In school means everywhere on the school site (once you have entered the gates) so these items cannot be worn during lessons, breaks and lunchtimes anywhere in school.

7 Sixth Form Uniform Plain black tailored jacket or blazer (optional) Plain white, grey, blue or black shirt/blouse tucked in at the waist Crested polo shirt (summer time only) Sixth Form tie, worn with shirt/blouse. Tie must be worn to expose no more than the 1st button hole.
