During any activity we start to perspire. The body says it wants to cool down but the elements dictate otherwise. 3 COOL Base Layer Cool T maintains a supercool and dry micro climate next to the skin by the totally effective removal of perspiration in Cool to Very Hot temperatures. FACTOR Base Layer Factor 1 is designed to maintain a warm and dry micro- climate next to the skin by the totally effective removal of perspiration while retaining body heat in Cool to Cold conditions. FACTOR Mid/Base Layer Factor 2 is designed to provide superior warmth and insulation by the totally effective removal of perspiration in Cold to Extreme temperatures. With most of today s performance clothing manufactured from man made fabrics, despite claims to the contrary, not all garments perform as they claim. That is why unlike most, we have developed and created all our own fabrics for Factor 1, Factor 2 and Cool T ranges using technologically superior polyamide fibres. 4 SUB ZERO FACTOR 1 1 Yes the effect is the same! Designed to be worn as a base layer acting as a lightweight thermal in cooler condtions, Factor 1 is made from our soft, rib fabric knitted from polyamide fibres. Superior and lighter than like for like polyester based fabrics used in other so called performance clothing and as such, much more effective. Like a second skin the main objective of Factor 1 is keeping you warm and dry, free from the potential harmful effects of sweat-chill, by wicking (transporting) perspiration away from your body to the outer surface of the garment. There the perspiration flashes across the surface to either evaporate or to be picked-up by the mid layer. Such is the efficency of Factor 1 perspiration management it will also help keep you cool in warmer weather by draining off excess body heat Totally effective in action, plus UV protection, makes Sub Zero Factor 1 the ideal base layer for multi sporting activites and essential all year wear for outdoor pursuits and adventure. BASE LAYER Super Warm Superior Wicking Totally Effective For some considerable time, Sub Zero have been the official suppliers to both Cambridge and Oxford University Rowing Clubs. Each year our Factor 1 garments are put through their paces during the worlds most famous boating event - The University Boat Race. 5 Each fibre is impregnated with a durable hydrophilic moisture loving finish which quickly wicks (transports) perspiration away from the body. It also provides a UV protection of 35+ (BS 7914:1998). Perspiration is wicked away to the outer surface of the Factor 1 garment where it disperses to evaporate, or to be picked-up by a Factor 2 mid layer or outer shell, leaving the skin feeling dry. 6 SUB ZERO FACTOR 2 2 Factor 2 is a unique thermal mid-layer. Specially developed, we have manufactured our double sided Factor 2 fabric with a harder wearing outer surface and a super soft brushed fleece-like inner using superior polyamide fibres. Factor 2 garments can be worn on their own, or on top of a Factor 1 base layer in colder conditions. The two main functions of all Factor 2 garments is to transport perspiration away from your skin, or the surface of Factor 1, to its outer surface to disperse. At the same time the inner brushed fleece surface traps warm air to insulate the body keeping it at a dry, cosy, comfortable even temperature. So effective is the performance of Factor 2, along with its high wind resistance, that it has proven itself superior to mainstream polyester fleeces time and time again in the severest conditions. Manufactured from another of our specially developed bi-component (two layer) fabrics, we have designed Cool T for all high activity aerobic sporting pursuits. Because of the very low heat retention of Cool T fabric along with high factor UV protection, it brings maximum sensorial and physiological comfort so that you ll be able to keep your cool in the most heated encounters indoors or out. The inner layer of Cool T fabric transfers perspiration rapidly away from the body to the more absorbent fine filament outer layer. Here moisture will flash (spread) across the surface of the garment which speeds up evaporation. The whole effect leaves your skin feeling much dryer and much cooler. 10 Cool T fabric is designed to wick perspiration and body heat quickly away from the skin to a fine filament outer layer where perspiration flashes across the surface for rapid evaporation, or to be picked-up by a mid layer. In minimum heat retention comparison tests for TOG value (BS 4745/ISO ) all Cool T garments acheived a TOG rating of just 0.22, making them by far the coolest base layers available for high aerobic activity. In comparison tests for wicking away perspiration using the vertical wicking test (BS 3424) all our Cool T garments completely outperformed the opposition.
