8 208 MATERIALS LAMINATE Functional laminates are two or three mate rials which are connected by means of an adhesive. One of the layers can be a membrane. The membrane makes the material windand waterproof. It nevertheless allows moisture to move from the inside to the outside, so it is breathable. Laminates can also be materials that are glued together without a membrane. These kind of laminate benefit from the varying characteristics of the two materials.
