The best shopping and restaurants are located on Atlantic Avenue, Smith Street, and Court Street. Interiors You'll find Atlantic Avenue's best antiques shops between Hoyt Street on the west side and Nevins Street on the east. Sterling Place, which has two locations on Atlantic, is an excellent location to browse through high quality antique and vintage copper and crystalware. You won't want to miss City Foundry at 365 Atlantic, for a wide selection of mid-century modern furniture and lighting. A block away is City Foundry Annex, which stocks antique industrial pieces like robot figures made from car parts. Darr Darr is a must-see for props and industrial oddities. Old paintings, glass jars of antlers, scientific equipment and other curios are among the stock, which also graces the walls of Hollander & Lexer across the street. A little further down you'll find Circa Antiques and Collectibles, a must for those interested in Victorian antiques, turn-of-the-century sterling silver flatware and quality Austrian and American glass and lamps. For new and modern interiors shopping, head down Smith Street to Home & Haven, which has a nicely edited collection of modern home decor and specialises in emerging local artists and Scandinavian designers. Up the block, Astro Turf specialises in 50s and 60s housewares, including vintage furniture from Eames and Knoll. Further south you'll find Hasker for a variety of new and vintage furniture and accessories from European and American manufacturers. Eating and drinking For wining and dining, you can't go wrong with the famed Smith Street eateries, but we also recommend checking out Court Street for the popular Thai eatery Joya and neighbourhood-favourite bakeries Sweet Melissa and Marquet.

5 Page 5 of 5 Stop in Boerum Hill Food Company at 134 Smith Street for a cozy brunch loaded with organic and local ingredients or just a delicious latte or smoothie. The tiny Victory Cafe on State street, behind Atlantic, has gourmet snacks and local company. For weekend brunch, the famed Bar Tabac has a live Dixieland jazz band near its streetside tables. Another excellent dinner option is Stan's Place, a New Orleans-style restaurant and cafe known for delicious Creole dishes like lump crab cakes and seafood gumbo. In the summer, The Gowanus Yacht Club is the preferred neighbourhood bar, where you can sit outside with pitchers of beer, enjoy a hotdog and take a peek at the neighbourhood's hipsters. For a similarly low-key outdoor experience with more cheap food options, try Trout or neighbouring Pacifico.
