Sometimes I shopped with friends. I found many formal and casual additions for my wardrobe. I choose this outfit because I wanted an outfit that can be both formal and casual. I learned that while it may be fun shopping with friends, we do not always have the same taste in clothing and sometimes it is easier to shop at my own pace.

Freshman is ready for a casual or formal event with her new versatile purchased outfit. Jane only spent $16.46 for her go anywhere outfit which is valued at almost $100. Jane had fun shopping at a variety of stores to choose the right mix of new and slightly used items for her perfect outfit. (Ex: French seams, zipper, etc.) Fitting, measuring, making straps, hemming, researching styles, designing Required: Total cost of supplies (including pattern, notions, etc.) $ (Purchased: use total cost of outfit, excluding tax) Required: Value of a comparable commercial made item(s) $ (Purchased: use value of complete outfit) List other garments and accessories that you will be wearing: Shoes, jewelry Describe the creation of your entry, its design and/or embellishments (if any), include any new skills you learned: First I measured my chest and decided how the elastic top would fit. I decided on the length of the dress. I cut the fabric to the correct width and length. I sewed the back and the bottom seams. I created straps with the extra fabric. I learned that it can be difficult to get the fit correct when dealing with elastic. It is important to make the first cut too big instead of too small! I also learned how to create straps for my dress.

Fourteen year old of ABC 4-H created this vintage floral sundress based on a picture of a 1970 s tube top sundress. Jane enjoys looking at vintage catalogs and magazines to find inspiring designs. She is looking forward to staying cool this summer wearing her new sundress.
