1 From: School of Fashion Design, Alumni Relations Subject: SFD Alumni News - March 2011 Reply: alumni@sfdboston.com March 2011 Alumni News Dear Jay, Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent alumni survey. Here's what we learned: More than half of alumni responding are currently working in the fashion industry or working in a related creative industry. 38% of you are self-employed entrepreneurs. We were delighted to learn than more than half of you were interested in judging a fashion show or volunteering for other activities with SFD. Please us so we can add you to our "call" list as these opportunities become available. 73% of you indicated that you were interested in hearing about fashion shows in and around Boston. We will do our best to continue to bring you details about exciting fashion events as we hear about them. Many of you indicated an interest in classes that were not offered while you were a student, and we will try to offer some events on the weekends to accommodate your working schedules. Let us know if you have ideas for particular speakers you'd like to hear. Thank you again for your helpful responses. Regards, March - in like a lion, out like a lamb we hope Jennifer Leclerc SFD Alumni Relations Alumni Spotlight Connect with other alumni! Upload photos and share news and announcements! Save the Date! SFD Graduation & Fashion Show Saturday, May 7th Save the date for the annual SFD Graduation & Fashion Eddi Phillips ('08) Currently on display at Copley Plaza are pieces from Eddi Phillips' earlier collections, which first debuted in 2009 at The Launch, during Boston Fashion Week. Eddi writes: "I was drawn to the richness of jewel tones and metallic fabrics. A constant theme in my clothes is that I want the wearer to feel the power of her femininity; to be gorgeous without guilt, but still be a lady. The Copley display is a huge accomplishment for me, and it really couldn't have happened without the School of Fashion Design and the brilliant instructors and administrators

Somerville. Part-time Apply by 3/28 From the original Producers of PROJECT RUNWAY comes an epic new fashion show on NBC! Looking for inspired designers of all levels - amateur, semi-professional, and the brilliant instructors and administrators who continue to support and encourage me, even after I graduated." Eddi launched Eddi Phillips Designs in 2010 with a focus on cocktail and evening wear and designing for private clients. He is currently working on a new collection for Fall 2011, finding inspiration in the botanicals of nature: "hard, textured surfaces, such as the structural branches of trees, design by Eddi Phillips photo by Jay Calderin juxtaposed with the soft, silky, gentle petals of flowers. Nature is a fervent and lavish display of color and texture and yet it's also calm, gentle, and flowing." He says the color palette is being kept secret and looks forward to everyone coming to check it out in the fall! Eddi also works in period costumes, intrigued by the intricate, fine handmade details and the complexity of construction. He has designed and constructed several pieces for his local community theater in Southbridge, MA. Eddi serves on the Board of Directors for the Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities, where his pieces have been shown at their Fashion Show Gala Fundraisers. Send a message back to her through alumni@sfdboston.com and we will be happy to put you in touch. Nancy (Wason) Perman ('69) I would love to get together with as many past alumni as possible. I have been in the fashion industry since graduation just have taken several turns in the road as far as what I accomplished. At this point I own and operate NJ"S Custom Embroidery and Screen Printing Business and do Alterations, design sewing on the side. I received the Isobel Sinesi Lifetime Achievement in Fashion Award in 2007 and was very happy to be back in fold. I would like to hear from anyone from my class. Carol Flynn-Rice ('84) In my new position as PLM Manager, I will be working with the TJX Product Development and TJX Information Technology groups to analyze and improve our business processes in order to increase speed to market, improve quality and help support anticipated growth in private label product development. We will be improving our systems with a PLM implementation. It's a big project and the company needed to have someone on the team who has a background in Product Development to represent their interests. I will miss having my hands on the product, but am happy to be able to leverage my knowledge to help support the growth of the department. I just hit my 10 year anniversary with the company and am happy for the new challenge!
