1 GRADE 6-8 DRESS CODE Middle schl students are required t adhere t the dress cde as designated by SCA. If a student is ut f dress cde, the apprpriate infractin may be enfrced and the student may be sent hme r the parent may be asked t bring apprpriate attire t the schl fr them t change. SCA s dress cde requires mdesty, neatness, cleanliness, and prfessinalism. Students are expected t fllw dress cde bth in letter and in spirit. Repetitive r egregius vilatins f the dress cde becme grunds fr suspensin r further disciplinary actins. The fllwing general standards are required at all times, whether r nt explicitly described in the varius dress cdes that appear later. All garments must be mdest, in gd repair, and nt draw attentin t the student. Undergarments must never be visible. Tp and bttm garments must nt be t tight r verly frm fitting, regardless f the student s wn size and shape. Sleeveless shirts are never allwed. Midriffs and cleavage must never be visible. Nthing is allwed that is incnsistent with SCA s cmmunity standards r Cde f Cnduct as determined by SCA. This includes, but is nt limited t clthing, jewelry, backpacks, lunch bxes/bags, purses, and ther accessries as well that cntains any questinable text r images. Students must nt have visible permanent r temprary tatts r tatt-like drawings (i.e. pen, henna), nr shuld students draw r write n their skin. N individual, grup, department, r rganizatin assciated with SCA may design, create, distribute, r sell any clthing r items that directly r indirectly represent SCA withut receiving the prir written apprval f the Directr f Admissins & Marketing. A Special Nte t Parents Upn applicatin t SCA, each family agrees t cperate with the schl t ensure their child s daily attire meets the dress cde. Parents must assume the primary respnsibility f assuring that their sns and daughters are in dress cde. Please supprt the schl in this matter. Als, if the schl identifies vilatins in dress cde with yur sn r daughter, SCA expects the supprt f parents regarding any crrective r disciplinary actin. The dress cde plicies in this dcument will remain in effect fr the entire schl year. Suggestins fr future editins f the handbk may be cnsidered during the summer mnths fr the fllwing year. Academic Day Dress Cde (Upn arrival until end f schl day) Shirts Slid clr pl type shirts may be wrn in the fllwing clrs: red, white, navy blue, light blue, and pink. Students may wear a slid buttn dwn dress shirt, but it must be either: red, white, navy blue, light blue, r pink. Bys: buttn dwn dress shirts must be cmpletely tucked in. The nly visible marking n any shirt is a small (apprximately 2-inch square) apprpriate manufacturer lg/text r an SCA lg. Sweaters, hdies, sweatshirts, layered shirts, and the like may nly be wrn as uterwear if apprved (see belw).

2 Outerwear All uterwear (jackets, hdie, sweatshirt, sweater, layered shirts) must be slid red, white, r blue. The nly marking allwed n any uterwear is a small apprximately 2-inch square apprpriate manufacturer lg/text r the SCA lg. Any SCA uterwear purchased at the Eagle Shppe may be wrn during the academic day. Pants/Shrts/Shirts Shrts and lng pants must be navy r khaki and may be purchased frm any vendr as lng as they cnfrm t SCA dress cde regulatins. All bttms must be: Khaki r navy, r the apprpriate plaid skirt purchased frm Dennis Schl Unifrm stre(hs: Marymunt Plaid). Made f nice materials such as twill, plyester, r ther fabrics assciated with dress pants (n denim, jeggings, leggings, sweatpants, yga pants, r jeans f any clr). Shrts, skirts, skrts, must be n shrter than 4 inches abve the tp f the knee. Pants, shrts must be lse fitting. Pants and shrts may nt be excessively tight. At the discretin f SCA, students may be required t change. N jeans may be wrn, even if they are the crrect unifrm clr. When students are given a unifrm vilatin they may nt return t class until they have changed. Shes/Scks Shes must be tennis shes, clsed ted shes r back strapped sandals. She heels must nt exceed 2 inches in height. Scks may be any clr. Grming and Accessries Bys Hair Clean, neatly brushed r cmbed, natural in its clr, nt distracting in its style Cut abve the cllar in the back, abve the eyebrws, and n lnger n the side than the middle f the ear. Cut in a symmetrical manner (nt cut shrt n ne side and lng n the ther). N mhawk styles, r any partially-shaved head styles. Hair shuld be cut t allw rm fr grwth. Clean shaven. Sideburns n lnger than the bttm f the earlbe. Any hair style cnsidered inapprpriate by the principal r designated representative may nt be permitted. Girls Hair Clean, neatly brushed r cmbed, natural in its clr, nt distracting in its style, Any hairstyle cnsidered inapprpriate by the principal r designated representative may nt be permitted Jewelry Up t tw piercings per ear permitted fr girls nly, n ther facial r visible bdy piercings fr bys r girls. N visibly distracting r excessive jewelry permitted.

Dress Cde fr Extracurricular Activities The fllwing are guidelines fr the dress cde during schl-related, n-campus r ff-campus extracurricular activities (e.g. attending a hme r away SCA sprting event, after schl, casual field trips. The student must dress apprpriately as a student representative f SCA and wear clthes that are mdest, in gd repair, and are cnsistent with the standards f SCA. All clthing allwed during the schl week r n Fridays is allwed. Tps can be wrn tucked in r untucked. Midriffs and cleavage must never be visible. All bttm garments must adhere t the fit and length requirements f regular schl days. Jeans are allwed fr all grades, and must fit the descriptin written fr senirs n Fridays. Larger images and wrds n shirts and als uterwear are permitted, and must fit the descriptin written abve fr apprpriate images. Any kind f apprpriate and safe she may be wrn, but heels r wedges higher than tw inches are nt allwed.

4 Specific dress cdes may be published fr field trips and ther events as needed. If a student is wearing items ut f dress cde in the pinin f the schl appinted authrity he/she may be asked t immediately change int apprpriate clthing r t leave the premises/event. If that is nt pssible due t circumstances (e.g. n a field trip), apprpriate cnsequences may be administered during the schl day. Activity Unifrms Students are permitted t wear their apprved practice, game, r perfrmance unifrms nly in the lcatins and during the times used fr that purpse. They may nt wear them arund campus.. Here are tw examples: Bys may nly wear garments that they wear under their ftball gear in the lcker rm, the weight rm, n the ftball field, r while walking t the bus t leave fr a game. The same is true fr girls vlleyball shrts as with ther sprts. Students in a play r musical may wear wrkut r dance clthing nly in the theater r ther rm used fr blcking r dance rehearsals. Special Exceptins & Theme Days On ccasin, StuG r ther schl rganizatins may request special, ne-time permissin frm the principal t wear smething ther than the apprpriate required dress cde. Fr example, athletic teams may request t wear dress clthing (shirts and ties) during schl n a game day, StuG may request spirit wear in specific circumstances. Exceptins will rarely be granted if they deviate frm SCA s written standards f dress and mdesty. The prcedure fr anyne t receive permissin fr special exceptins is as fllws: 1. N less than ne week befre the requested day, the cach r faculty advisr f the activity (r designated student leader, if there is n faculty r cach) must submit a written request t the principal, describing exactly what clthing the students want t wear. The descriptin must specify exactly hw the clthing will differ frm the nrmal required dress cde. 2. The principal may review the written request, and may request additinal infrmatin r explanatin as needed. The principal may either allw r deny the request in writing, making any mdificatins t the request as he/she sees fit. Students may nt wear the requested variatin n dress cde unless they receive this prir written apprval. Students never shuld assume it is permissible t wear clthes ut f dress cde withut this special permissin. Frmal Extracurricular Activities Graduatin, Baccalaureate, etc. When attending Graduatin, Baccalaureate, required church services, Natinal Junir Hnrs Sciety inductin, etc. students shuld dress in church frmal clthing, unless specifically given ther instructins. Specifically,

5 Bys shuld wear a dress shirt, tie, dress pants, scks, and dress shes. Girls shuld wear a nice bluse with skirt (classrm length r lnger) r a dress (classrm length r lnger), and dress shes n higher than 2 inches. All schl mdesty expectatins are still required, including n slits in dresses/skirts higher than 4 inches abve knee, etc. Hair and all ther grming must meet classrm dress standards. Frmal Dances and Scials When attending schl dances and scials during the year, all written and implied standards f mdesty fund in SCA s dress cde still apply.
