1 Fashion Revue Contest (Includes: Clothing, Knitting, Crocheting and Off the Rack) Fashion Revue is an opportunity for you to model your clothing, knitting, or crocheting project. There are different classes you can choose from. The great thing about this part of the Fashion Revue is that the youth don t have to sew anything. Everything can be purchased from a store, and it doesn t even have to be new! Participants need not be enrolled in the clothing project to participate. As you prepare for fashion revue, you w ill gain poise and self-confidence for presenting in front of a small, friendly audience. The 4-H Fashion Revue manual w ill help you develop your modeling skill and fashion commentary, available at the Extension Office. Please call the Extension O ffice to register for Fashion Revue Registration deadline is July 16 Off the Rack an addition to the traditional fashion revue classes 4-H Club House, Astoria Wednesday, July 23 Instruction and Practice Time All Classes 5:30 PM 6:00 PM Fashion Revue Judging 6:00 PM 8:00 PM Group Practice for County Fair Show (at conclusion of judging) Be ready to model at 6:00 PM; plan to stay until 8:30 PM Members may model one outfit in each project area. Be sure to check in w ith the Contest Clerk. Contestants should bring 4-H project w ith all accessories to w ear during modeling. There w ill be dressing areas available. Sat., Aug. 2, 12:00 12:30 PM Fashion Revue Public Show Clatsop County Fairgrounds Line-up 11:30 PM -- Show 12:00 PM Fashion revue items that are on exhibit w ill be available at 11:00 AM for the show and w ill need to be returned after the show. Ribbons w ill be aw arded and Champions announced at the Public Show.

2 FASHION REVUE CLASSES * County Only Classes Clothing, Knitting, & Crocheting Fashion Revue Classes Contestants must be enrolled in a clothing, knitting or crocheting project and model garment made in the project. At the State level, a 4-H member may not enter the same garment in an exhibit class and the Fashion Revue. Judging criteria are outlined on the Style Revue Score Card (40-435) in the 4-H Fashion Revue Publication (4-H-920), available at the county Extension office or on the State 4-H website at: A complete descriptive card with cost description, name, address, interesting comments about the garment and the contestant must be given to the fashion revue superintendent on judging day. A sample of the garment fabric or yarn should be attached. Note: Fill blank in class number with number to indicate exhibitor age division * Fashion Revue, K-3 (county only) * Fashion Revue, Junior (county only) Fashion Revue, Intermediate Fashion Revue, Senior Additional forms will be sent to you upon registration "OFF THE RACK" Fashion Revue Classes Participants need not be enrolled in the clothing project. Participants will be asked to model their outfit in front of the judge and answer a few questions about the choices made in putting their outfit together. The outfit style should be appropriate for the member's age and activity. All Off the Rack classes will be scored on: Presentation, Garment Selection, Garment Cost, and Garment Appearance. Member may enter once in each class for their age division. They will need to be able to answer the following questions: Why the garment was purchased How the garment fits into their wardrobe What kind of fabric the garment(s) made of How the cost of the garment fits into the member's budget (including care and maintenance) Cost Comparison (wise use of dollars, time, skills, etc.) Choose the one that applies Ready to Wear vs Home Sewn Artistic Efforts vs Store Bought Remodeled vs Store Bought and/or Home Sewn Recycled vs Store Bought and/or Home Sewn Ready to Wear Fashion Revue - Participants can combine newly purchased clothing with up to two items or accessories they already own to present a Total Look including shoes and accessories. Newly purchased items must make up at least half of the items in the outfit. Cost of newly purchased clothing and accessories is limited to a total of $25 or less *K-3 (County Only) *Junior (County Only) Intermediate Senior - Purchased coordinated outfit and accessories. Outfit need not be newly purchased. 0. K-3 1. Junior 2. Intermediate 3. Senior *Artistic Fashion Revue - Clothing created to show artistic efforts. (i.e. embroidery, tie-dye, etc.) This could be either garments made or embellished by the exhibitor. (County Only) *Remodeled Clothing Fashion Revue - Purchased garments that have been altered in fit or fashion. (County Only) *Recycled Clothing Fashion Revue - A coordinated outfit of garments obtained by hand-me-downs or thrift store purchases. (County Only) *Costume Clothing Fashion Revue Artistic/Creative Costume Class

4 Fashion Review Commentary You are responsible for writing the commentary that will be read while you are modeling your outfit on Judging Day and at the Public Show. Have fun writing this and be sure to include your name, garment type or fashion category, fashion details from the back of the pattern envelope, fabric description, and some personal information about you, the model! Keep the commentary between 100 and 175 words. (Use information from reverse side.) Contestants in Fashion Revue are judged on: The Model (30 points) Posture, Poise, Grooming, and Modeling Skills/Presentation The Outfit and the Model (50 points) Attractiveness, fit, coordination of accessories and suitability Garment Appearance (20 points) Quality in workmanship, clean and pressed. Why did you choose this outfit? Explain how the accessories complete the outfit. FASHION CATEGORY Identify your style sportswear, evening and special occasion, rugged, outdoors, school clothing, dress, pants, suit, etc. Future plans for wearing. FABRIC Describe your fabric or pattern stitch. Use identifying characteristics color, texture or weave satin, corduroy, napped, etc., pattern plaid, stripe, print, floral, geometric, paisley, etc., fiber content and care instructions. FASHION SKETCH You don t have to be an artist. Simply sketch or trace your outfit using your pattern envelop as a guide. FABRIC OR YARN SWATCHES Attach 1½ X 1½ swatch of your fabric here.
