4 The objective of this project was to create an object of adornment made of 100 of one object and one item to connect them all together. I chose bobby pins + netted fabric. I chose to use both brown and black bobby pins to add variety and dimension. I looped the bobby pins from the bottom up, I found the layering aspect to be interesting and evidently conducive to the fabrication of the garment. The layering also made the movement of the piece a compelling part of the photographs and the piece itself. I Introduced the cuff to create visual interest and asymmetry within the piece. process work

7 process work Creating this wordmark began with selecting a particular animal and an adjetive that defines the animal. I chose a hummingbird and the word Flutter. I moved forward in the design process, with iterations reflecting the sound and motion of the word. I designed a final wordmark for the class but over the summer I decided this was one of my weakest designs. I wanted to start again with the project to better reflect my growth as a designer. So I started from the beginning. I chose a new animal, anticipating the upcoming fall and halloween season, I chose on the owl. I wanted to capture the mysterious and almost scary attributes of the owl.

8 spook rewordmark I brainstormed a list of related words that I thought of when thinking of owls and the upcoming season. I landed on the word Spook I decided it imitated the owl s Hoot or hoo It also simultaneously related to the halloween aspect that I wanted. In addition to capturing the animal and its characteristic, the wordmark needed to represent a hypothetical company. I envzisioned a company for halloween costumes and accessories. When selecting a color scheme, I tried to reflect the fall and the continued halloween theme, choosing orange and yellow, in addition to the basic black, was successful in achieving the haunted attribute I wanted.

The goal of this project was to strengthen skills in typography, as well as develop compositions that reflect the event. We had A, B, and C studies. Study A was restricted to one type size and one typeface In study B we got to play with type size, exploring hierarchy within the copy. 14 1 iterations 2 The objective of this project was to compose compositions based on an artist. I based mine on Bob Dylan and specifically on his song Rolling Stone. We continued following an iterative process of exploration and experimentation, applying formal principles of spacial organization to develop dynamic visual compositions that integrate the basic elements of 2D design (point, line, plane/shape) with type and image. The format for this final study was based off the Fibonacci sequence and the continued inherent forces continued through the previous studies. 3

18 iterations How to Tie a Tie: To tie the Windsor Knot, select a necktie of your choice and stand in front of a mirror. Then simply f o l l o w t h e steps below: Start with the wide end of your necktie on the right, extending about 12 inches The Windsor Knot below the narrow end on the left. Bring the wide end up t h r o u g h t h e l o o p between the collar and your tie. Then bring the wide end back down. Pull the wide end underneath the narrow end and to the right, back t h r o u g h t h e l o o p and to the right again so that the wide end is inside Bring the wide end across the front from r i g h t t o l e f t. Then pull the wide end up through the loop again. Bring the wide end down through the k n o t i n f r o n t. And using both hands tighten the knot carefully and d r a w i t u p to the collar. Congratulations, you did it. You see, it is not rocket science after all. Simply keep practicing the Windsor knot a few more times until you can tie this necktie knot within less than two minutes. Brooks Brothers The Windsor knot is a thick, wide and triangular tie knot that projects confidence. It would therefore be your knot of choice for presentations, job interviews, courtroom appearances etc. It is best suited for spread collar shirts and it s actually quite easy to do. This tie knot was invented by King George V of England during the 1920s. He preferred a wide knot and had his ties specially made with thicker cloth in order to produce a wider knot. While just about everyone can use this tie knot to tie his tie, it looks especially well on men with longer necks as its wide form shortens the perceived height of the neck a little bit. The objective of this project was to organize the steps of how to tie a tie, specifically a windsor knot, in a way that creates efficient reading and is appropriate for the situation. The challenge of this selection was ensuring that the copy could be read quickly, calmly, and easy to understand in a tense situation. The final poster was an exploration of typography and design elements combined to create an unconventional way of the display of the information while exploring different techniques to do so.
