3 Presentation of network 1991 ACTE was founded in Guimarães, Portugal, on the initiative of Mario Soares, former President of the Portuguese Republic and Pierre Mauroy, former French Prime Minister, by six local authorities including Lille Métropole Today ACTE is composed of 70 members in 10 European countries and in Tunisia Mouscron Lille Guimareas Biella Terrassa Berlin Łódź Varaždin Prato Tetovo Tunis 3

7 Working guidelines To reinforce actions of representation to the European institutions especially towards innovation, industrial and commercial European policies. To support textile innovation. To continue the development and integration of the network and participation of ACTE members in major European projects. To enlarge the network among European territories in advance regarding innovative textiles or creation (fashion and design). Management, governance and communication within ACTE network. 7
8 Actions 2012 Lobbying actions towards European institutions Contribution to the actions of the European Commission in the area of new European industrial policy: Meetings with DG Entreprises (especially with F4 «textile, clothing and sourcing»of the EC) ; Contribution to the informal working group on competitivity of Fashion industry created by the European Commission ; Participation in the European sectoral council on textile, leather and clothing (SKILLS); Participation in different textile meetings and forums (ex. «Euromed» in Milan etc). Development of links with European stakeholders and social partners : meetings with, EURATEX, first European trade union (participation in studies on future of textile training and education ) 8
9 Working Group : discussion paper related to the competitiveness of the fashion industries Framework Following the Communication on cultural and creative sectors late September,Commission services have published two Staff Working Documents on the fashion and high-end industries. They present possible initiatives in order to invest in creativity and innovation, boost exports and sustainable growth, foster e-commerce while protecting intellectual property rights. Furthermore, the documents consider possibilities to stimulate spill-over effects to other related industry sectors such as tourism, art and media. In october2012 : communication on key aspects of the competitiveness of the fashion industries.

11 Working Group : discussion paper related to the competitiveness of the fashion industries TWG and targets TWG between april and july 2012 Targets: to get suggestions in human capital and skills, access to third countries markets: export opportunities, internationalisation and trade policy, IPR and counterfeiting, R&D, innovation and creativity leading to higher added value, new technologies and ICT, entrepreneurship, new business models and higher value added industry, sustainable and responsible production and consumption, framework conditions for industry.
12 European sectoral council on textile, leather and clothing (SKILLS) In the framework of EU 2020 strategy and Agenda for New Skills and Jobs flagship, the European council pointed out different difficulties in Europe, among them the lack of training of employees and youngsters in different sectors such as textile, clothing and leather. The idea : to develop sectorial councils to support networking between stakeholders among Europe and to define needs and common actions. In this aim, the European commission suggested to put together existing observatories at national level. The sectorial councils focus mainly on SMEs. The council will develop a web platform in charge of gathering the information of national observatories, training centers, technical centers in a common network for education and training. This website should help for promotion of textile sector vis-à-vis young workers. It could even create a feeling for community-belonging.

14 Actions 2012 European projects ACTE, cradle of PLUSTEX (Interreg IVC project) This European project aims at enhancing efficiency of local and regional development policies in textile sector sharing good practicies and tools between European cities and textile stakeholders. The objectives of the project are: To promote policies to enhance knowledge and innovation to support SMEs in Textile and Clothing sector. To deliver good practicies to support the creation of new business models, the development of industrial technologies and marketing strategies. 14
15 PLUSTEX To implement PLCs 6 TWG will be created on the 6 policy priority areas of PLUSTEX. TWGs bring partners together under one of those areas. Each TWG is coordinated by a partner and will deliver 1 or 2 Policy Learning Cycles, according to the relevance and number of GPs. The TWG coordinators are :

20 Agenda 2012 Futurotextiles exhibitions Created by Lille 3000, Futurotextiles is an exhibition that combines science, technology and textiles. Futurotextiles exhibitions shows to people the developement and capacity of textile. Several textile high value added domains ans applications are exhibited in a pedagogic and tangible way. 20
21 Agenda 2012 Futurotextiles3 exhibition Futurotextiles3 is a new edition of the exhibiton. The connecting thread : the will to show the fantastic diversity and originality of textile which is undeniably the most suitable materials for creation and innovation. Futurotextiles3 in the framework of Fantastic, the cultural event organized by Lille 3000 through the «métropole lilloise», started the October 6, The exhibition takes place in Tourcoing, in the European Center for Innovative Textiles (CETI). The exhibition has several thematics spaces: PEDAGOGICAL SPACE HOMETEX: textile furnishing CLOTHTEX: clothing and interactive creations MOBILTEX: composite materials SPORTEX: textile for sportswear PROTEX: textiles used in the field of protection BUILDTEX: textile used in architectural projects GEOTEX: examples of textiles used in basement and agriculture. MEDTEX: use of textile in medicine 21

23 Agenda th general Assembly of ACTE in Łódź, Poland The 20 th General Assembly of ACTE was convened on April 20 in Łódź, the leading centre of Polish textile industry. Agenda : diverse operational issues were addressed during this meeting, including the accession of the new members, the budget for 2012 as well as thenational Vice-Presidencies activity reports. This General Assembly was part of the large program of meetings between ACTE members in Łódź and it was preceded by the Executive Committee on 19 April. In addition, the participants were invited to attend series of cultural and artistic events which took place during the meeting week. It included the opening of the "Fashion Week, Futurotextiles exhibition, and the visit of the local textile companies. 23
24 Agenda d edition of ACTE European contest in Riccione, Italy The second European contest of young designers The Fashion Contests Awards organized together with CNA Federmoda took place on July 20 th in Riccione (Italy).This contest was held as part of Italian national fashion event Riccione Moda Italia 2012 which promotes the talent, creativity and design, organized annually by CNA Federmoda. Targets : to enhance the creativity of its territories and to provide support to young creators and entrepreneurs of the T&C sector which is an important axis of network s activities. A very successful experience : eleven competitors representing France, Spain and Italy took part in that contest exposing their high quality works. The year s winners : Morgane Caux (from the Sévigné Secondary School in Tourcoing, France) in the Young Designer category and the LEITMOTIV brand (Fabio Sasso and Juan Carro, Italy) in the Young Entrepreneur category, respectively won a 3,000 and 8,000 money prize. 24
25 Agenda 2012 Participation to Euro-Mediterranean T&C Exhibition TEXMED in Tunis (Tunisia) ACTE participated to the Euro-Mediterarrean T&C exhibition TEXMED in Tunis from 3 rd to 5 th October. The winners from the ACTE European young designers contest of Riccione were invited to participate to the show organized during the exhibition. 25
26 Agenda 2012 Executive Committee in Mouscron (Belgium) ACTE organizes its next Executive Committee which will take place in Mouscron (Belgium) on October 11 th 2012 This event will be an excellent occasion to share network s projects, news and to discuss about ACTE Presidency and Executive Secretariat activities undertaken since April This meeting is part of a large program of events, which includes : the official opening of the CETI (European Center for Innovative Textiles) in Tourcoing (France), the visit of local textile companies in Belgiumand the fashion show 48 hours of Maisons de Mode in Lille (France). 26
