Autumn Winter Burnt Botanical This story started from the concept that more beauty is often found in sketch books and journals than the final product.

5 Autumn Winter Burnt Botanical This story started from the concept that more beauty is often found in sketch books and journals than the final product. This was the inspiration for the Wear Masks Whenever Possible print that has been used in this collection. The investigation of concepts in art seems to bring about so much creativity and freedom, and I feel that this can be translated to fashion. Texture and color also informed this collection quite heavily. Autumnal colours inspired by the Australian bush gave me a strong color palette to work with, and from that the muted collection has formed. The garments are functional and elegant, and they can take you from day to night. The attention to detail elevates the garments and makes you feel like you are discovering even after buying. The color cues came from lots of black and ivory with pops of blush, burnt orange and teal. Look Four: Leather Trench with brushed silver trims with cut and sew button through bodice midi dress. 19 Spring Summer Denim Blues Quintessentially Sydney Summer. This collection is particularly inspired by the ease of dressing that is required in the heat of a Sydney summer. It is about a laid-back-luxe style with light wash denim, silks with a little sparks of metallic and a hint of gingham checks. There is a nod to a 70 s feel with loose flowing dresses and layers cut from rich fabrics.the colour palette has been inspired by the sky in the very early morning when everything is changing. Pale blues, ivory, denim with a hint of red and metallic to add depth. The collection is about rich fabrics that add texture and colour to your summer wardrobe. It is also about clothes that you not only want but need. I have designed these garments so that they can be worn as presented here but also fit seamlessly into your wardrobe. 33 Autumn Winter Arrow of Time This collection draws on immersive, technologicallydriven sculptures and installations for prints, colours and textures. Inspired by the Tatsuo Miyajima s Connect with Everything exhibition, this collection is about human life and energy. Metallic leather and printed neoprene paired with ultra-cozy cashmere knits that can be dressed up or down make this collection perfect for winter. Key pieces in this collection are the high neck dress, belted jackets with a utility feel paired with soft woven dresses with smocking details. 46 Kate Armstrong Fashion Design Curriculum Vitae Introduction I am currently working as a designer at Marcs, one of Australia s mid-tier fashion brands. My positon involves wovens, cut and sew, knits leatherwear and print design. With the confidence of my Creative Director, I have been challenged to develop my skills in all areas of the brand. I was allocated leather and cut and sew as a category at the start of the Autumn Winter 16 season and have relished owning an area of design from beginning to end. I have been working with knitwear for the past 3 years and it is a division I am passionate and excited about and in which I will endeavor to develop my skills. I have formed close relationships with our knitwear, cut and sew and leather suppliers, both in Australia and overseas, all of whom have given me further insight and understanding into the technical aspects of these categories. Interpret and translate overseas trends into styles that are consistent with the brand s vision. Create technical specification packs with construction details, trims and key measurements for sampling.
