With this program we would like to provide you with an opportunity to prepare your entry into the tourism network and familiarise yourselves with the diverse market of tourism.

Within the framework of special workshops you will have the chance to discuss current topics with tourism professionals from Lisbon and Germany.

However, also the communication between you the Young Talents from Germany and Lisbon is one of the highlights of the Annual Convention.

With this program we would like to provide you with an opportunity to prepare your entry into the tourism network and familiarise yourselves with the diverse market of tourism. For that reason we have invited Young Talents from Germany as well as participants from Lisbon to the Young Talent Program. Within the framework of special workshops you will have the chance to discuss current topics with tourism professionals from Lisbon and Germany. We invite you to seize this opportunity, to participate in the debate and ask questions. Getting as close to top tourism experts and having a conversation with them is no matter of course. However, also the communication between you the Young Talents from Germany and Lisbon is one of the highlights of the Annual Convention. Therefore, you will participate together in the Young Talents Program as well as all evening events. Opened in 1931, the casino has contributed greatly to develop Estoril into a portuguese riviera. The Casino Estorial is the oldest as well as the biggest casino in Europe. It attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world each year. Locaded only 18 km away from Lisbon the casino offers far more than gambling: Shows, exhibitions, bars, clubs and restauranrs guarantee an unforgettable experience which is however reserved to persons aged 18 and above. The Black and Silver Room Petro e Prata where up to 1,100 persons can enjoy large banquets and shows is the casino's trademark and will thanks to the kind support of Cascais and GDSprovider Travelport be the perfect location for the Gala Dinner of the DRV Annual Conference Dress code: Evening Attire Saturday, 21 November Networking night Sunday, 22 November During the day: Congress program Closing night: Networking in the Estufa Fria a tropic oasis In 1912, the idea was born to create a park to shelter plants from all over the world. A few years later, the greenhouse that is today giving the park its name was designed and ceremoniously inaugurated in In the 1940's, the whole park (Parque Eduardo VII) was subject to some new landscaping, taking on the aspect with which we know it today. In the 1940s a huge room was constructed, known as The Nave which for several years was used as a municipal theatre and at the present is serving as stage for events such as in this case the Networking Evening of the DRV Annual Conference Since 1975 this room also serves as permanent exhibition space for tropical and equatorial plants. The Tourism Association of the Azores which are known for their opulent nature will host this dinner with typical products of the islands and a performance, also leaving room for dancing music to close the conference with a cherry on top. 11 Networking and Dress Code General dress code for Lisbon: Late-summer or fall clothes during the day; in the evening it might be quite cold. During the destination workshops and leisure time it is recommended to show a certain respect for the culture and religion of the country. For women it is recommended to wear nontransparent clothes, cover the navel and not too low-cut clothes. Skirts should be as far as possible knee length. Due to air-conditioning you should have a scarf, jacket or pullover with you. Shoulders must be covered. Dress code for the Annual Convention: The occasion determines the clothes! Think of the occasion when choosing your clothes and the impression you want to make. Courtesy: Young Talents are expected to show respect for their experienced colleagues. During the convention you will always be surrounded by people and this requires high selfdiscipline to be always friendly and accommodating. Be it during the meals, in the corridors or in the elevator, always greet the people who come towards you. The first impression: Not only the outward appearance counts, but also your behaviour. Don t play act, make sure that your personality is authentically reflected by your behaviour and that you highlight your strengths in a natural way. During personal talks mention your first and last name clearly. Casual: Smart casual attire like jeans and a nice top as well as comfortable and clean casual shoes are allowed. Smart casual: Smart casual business outfit No jeans, no tie is the motto here. Classical cloth trousers with skirt or blouse as well as business shoes are fitting. From this level onwards leisure shoes are no longer appropriate. Business: A jacket for gentlemen and a blazer for ladies are appropriate on this level. Evening attire: Dark suit with tie for the gentlemen and an evening gown for the ladies. Here too, the ladies should not show too much femininity. Punctuality: Being on time is an important virtue in Germany. Please make sure that you always arrive in time for the different program items. Small Talk: The art of small talk must be learned. Try to start a conversation in a light and pleasant way. Always try to display your natural and positive charisma. Certain topics are absolutely taboo: death, money, politics and religion. Use of mobile phones: Switch off your mobile phone during the entire convention and evening events. Likewise, surfing on the Internet is only acceptable during the leisure time. Addressing people in German and English: In Germany, a formal addressing is appropriate in a professional enviroment such as the convention. Even if you are on first name terms with other participants, you should continue to choose formal addressing. Only if a personal addressing is directly offered to you you can accept it. In English, there is such no difference made. If speakers or participants in English-speaking discussion panels offer you to call them by their first name, you can do so. However, this does not mean, that the interlocutor has automatically offered you the informed addressing, also in German. 11

12 E C O T R O P H E A Presentation of the EcoTrophea 2015 During the evening of 20 November 2015 you will learn who will be presented with the International DRV Award for Environmental Protection and Social Responsibility in Tourism. DRV has been committed to sustainability for many years. Since 1987 we are annually presenting the EcoTrophea Award. With this award, we want to showcase the creative diversity of our industry in the field of protection for environment and nature or social commitment. During the past 28 years, excellent projects in tourism have been recognised with the EcoTrophea, taking into account ecological and community interests. You can look forward to the award winners of this year. All information on the Sustainability Award of DRV can be found online at ecotrophea.de Thomas Cook: EcoTrophea Award Winner 2014 The winner is the project "Valuable Water" Tour operator Thomas Cook The DRV is recognizing an exemplary commitment by awarding the DRV sustainability prize EcoTrophea 2014 to Thomas Cook's initiative "Wertvolles Wasser". The projects focuses on an issue that is essential for the sector: the responsible use of the valuable resource water. "The innovative approach of the initiative convinced the jury", explains Andreas Müseler, head of the DRV Sustainability Committee, the jury's vote. "When analyzing hotel water consumption, the project not only takes account of the direct consumption for hotel showers, pools and irrigation of gardens but also the indirect water consumption, for example in the production of food."
